  • I'm not anywhere near being 'in the know' but I have been reliably informed that there will be no takeover announced until after 10.30am today

I have no inside info but my guess is that the Aussies are holding up the deal and who can blame them. RD must want rid, he’s losing money month by month and will struggle to get another offer anywhere near this one. The Aussies hold all the aces IMO
As for the delay causing the Aussies grief, I believe @JamesSeed previously mentioned that GM told him that they weren’t bothered as they are in for the long haul

If they hold all the aces then they are playing a very bad hand imo. Season starts in 5 days time & transfer window shuts in 10 days time. Roland is selling players for peanuts & as it stands our front line on Saturday will be a player loaned out last season & the other a youngster who hasn't scored a league goal in his career. If they are playing "the long game" then someone had better tell them that it has taken us 3 years (and counting) to get out of this league.......it will take a damn sight longer than 5 to even get into the Championship from league 2.

As I said last week, I don't who is worse.......Roland or the Aussies.
Well, let me help. One has fucked up the club for four years and the others bought a scarf in the shop.
Oh that's unfortunate @Airman Brown coming from you...no need for poor grammar *other's
    It’s a plural - Aussies = others.
I'm not sure AB would lose many grammar shoot outs.
  • I have said it before, if I was looking at a long term project, with an investment of say £200 over 5 years, I would value the current playing squad at zero. That was before we sold konsa.

If the assuies were happy to wait, as they were in it for the long hall, I assume they feel the same. I would also like to think they have an ex manager, scout or agent on a retainer who has a number of transfers lined up to go on completion?

But saying all that I wouldn't buy a destressed football club less than 2 months before the start of the season. This should have been done in May or not until December.

@Airman Brown You’ve been pretty quiet over the last few weeks. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard things that are going on in the background. Any chance you can chuck us a bone to chew on until the next instalment if this saga?
Nothing to add on the Aussies but there is new interest from elsewhere.
Yes, and you wonder if the Aussies haven't accidentally done a lot of the legal work for them?
And one thing about the Aussies is that theirs is a plan based on sporting interest, it remains to be seen what the new bidders are after.

  • Well they don't exist,it's just a "group" of people ---numbers unknown--- wealth unknown--- --- all I know is one who may or may not be an investor phones up a guy on here with various "chill out it's all cool" or some such bollox and some Aussie guy wears a Charlton scarf to a game ------- that's it

Great post, sums it up for me.

No idea who this new interest is from but I've decided they are worse than Duchatelet.

They must have known the club is for sale for ages but have only just shown interest so not really committed.

They have not proved they have got any money either so most likely haven't got any.

    New unknown owners out.
Leaving sarcasm aside - why do you think it's so strange that people are asking questions or doubting the Aussies, considering how bad the last 2 sets of owners have been?

so unless the Aussies complete in the next week, even if RD now allows them to, this could drag on for a long while yet

    If Roland allows them to.

If Duchatelet thinks either group will pay him more than the Aussies he'll hang around longer in the hope of a few million extra. Two birds in the bush worth more than the bird in hand with him and has been for over a year.
  • This group has probably been around for some time, but might have been freshened up with a new backer. I agree that that could well be why the Aussies haven't completed- because Duchatelet is hoping for a higher bid. Absolute disgrace if true, and whoever is behind it should hang their head in shame.

So are you saying it definitely is Duchatelet that’s the delay ?

You've made me Red with anger at this Bull.

This is based on this quite strong rumour about other serious bidders being around. Why would he complete when he might have been promised more, by someone he knows and trusts?

    (Not Red Bull lol)

My point being, other than RD nicking a few 100k in transfers and a weakened squad and irritation of the fanbase, the Aussies suffer no further pain whilst at the same time saving £1m per month running costs. Add to that the 7m director loans if they are digging their heels in). That really is a massive financial saving, money that can be spent on rebuilding everything RD has ruined
  • Maybe that 2+2=5 but:

The directors loans have been discussed as an issue for the last few weeks and its agreed they wouldn't suddenly become an issue for the aussies after dd, as they are public knowledge.

It was rumoured that a lease deal for the stadium/training ground was on the table.

It was stated clearly, by the club and them selves, that the aussies want to buy lock stock and barrel.

So....... The "other bid" want to buy the club and lease the ground? Therefore need clear title?

If any of that is true it stinks of Murray!

Roland Out Forever!
