the deal is dead in the water I reckon

I think it’s been dead in the water for a very long time . Even if by some miracle the Aussies do take over my confidence in them is very low because of the balls up of trying to get this deal over the line . They obviously don’t have the financial clout to buy a club and that’s really worrying .
I'm glad someone's in the know.
Please can you explain their balls up ?
Taking at least six months to get it over the line for starters . Their next balls up is not walking away .
Graham Hortop said these things normally take months after the Sunley rescue in 1984.

The odds on us to go down on Betfair have increased, from 17.0 to 19.0.

    Reasons to be cheerful

Another great song originally written for Steeleye Spans difficult second album.

IF it is Murray holding up the takeover then what on earth is wrong with that man?

I would NOT AT ALL be surprised is his holdup is he is demanding a formal role with the club under new ownership and he is pouting and holding it up as a strategy to get that.
Impossible, he's got as much leverage as me.

It’s a good point, we have bemoaned the prospect of a takeover ruining our chances to strengthen the squad - what happens when it further undermines what little we have?

That was one of the excuses made for Robinson last season. Bowyer showed Robinson was to blame rather than news of a takeover.

I have no inside info but my guess is that the Aussies are holding up the deal and who can blame them. RD must want rid, he’s losing money month by month and will struggle to get another offer anywhere near this one. The Aussies hold all the aces IMO
As for the delay causing the Aussies grief, I believe @JamesSeed previously mentioned that GM told him that they weren’t bothered as they are in for the long haul

If they hold all the aces then they are playing a very bad hand imo. Season starts in 5 days time & transfer window shuts in 10 days time. Roland is selling players for peanuts & as it stands our front line on Saturday will be a player loaned out last season & the other a youngster who hasn't scored a league goal in his career. If they are playing "the long game" then someone had better tell them that it has taken us 3 years (and counting) to get out of this league.......it will take a damn sight longer than 5 to even get into the Championship from league 2.

As I said last week, I don't who is worse.......Roland or the Aussies.
Well, let me help. One has fucked up the club for four years and the others bought a scarf in the shop.
@Airman Brown You’ve been pretty quiet over the last few weeks. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard things that are going on in the background. Any chance you can chuck us a bone to chew on until the next instalment if this saga?
I'm taking it as a sign the Mafia are buying us. Airman daren't say anything for fear of propping up a proverbial motorway flyover.

How about a new nonsense theory?

“It’ll go through once Roland receives the sell on fee for Lookman”

    Wouldn't surprise me

when takeover was rumoured close in March/April sudden a Gudmunsson rumour of him being sold to Everton appeared (which would also get a sell on fee)

This sounds like something Roland would do as well

That's not nonsense, but does he then wait to see if Pope is sold (if there is a sell on clause, which Katie may have forgotten to include?). At some point, the mad Belgian has to cut his losses and run...

So a new approach to our owner?

Please note, despite all this Aussie noise, my Avatar hasn't changed for several months.
  • Why on earth couldn’t Roland just build into the sale that he gets the sell on fee for Lookman whatever it is and whenever it is. Why would it necessarily need to hold up any sale of the club ?

Fatally flawed assumption that the malignant old liar included any add ons to the Lookman disposal contract. What gives you any hint the tombstone toothed twunt has ever had the first fucking clue how to get anything right about Charlton even when he stands to benefit personally?

Reported in south London Press that there is a sell on clause

Because he won't pay off directors until he has this unexpected money in the bank. There's always a risk Lookman's transfer could fall through until it is officially done.

Which could have been bought out at any time by a little cash up front - happens all the time

Would that be third party ownership? Although he did it with Batshuayi.

No - tight as a drum this time.

Seems quite a few people are interested in the Aussie paperwork, it would appear that both personal and electronic approaches have/are being made from several quarters and the EFL are getting twitchy, particularly after the Sunderland info was released before the official statement.

I'm confused is this just in regards to the CAFC takeover or other takeovers in general
Also the several quarters, is this just from the Aussie consortium?

    So it's still ongoing then?

Any chance @JamesSeed can pester GM, this is getting silly now.

I did get a message late last night which implied the next few days may well be critical for the Aussies’ bid.

Hopefully an end to it very soon either way.
