I have a theory about the "difficult two weeks"...
It's all been agreed. (The terms are irrelevant.) Roland has told the Aussies to give him until the beginning of the season, to make as much cash as he can, and then the Aussies take over with a clean slate.
It explains the "diificult", as Roland sells as much of the assets as he can get his mitts on, and explains the "two weeks", as that would take us to the beginning of the season.
It also gives the Aussies a week before the transfer window closes to try to pull a rabbit out of the hat...
Think I might agree with this, but add there’s an agreement not to sell X numbers of named players, or of course it could mean everyone up for sale and we are totally and utterly screwed.
In we have entered a new ‘theory’ stage on the thread then my theory is at least one of the parties involved in the takeover talks to an Astrologer and they are waiting for the stars to align favourably. This week ? Just saying....

That doesn't make financial sense though
If you buy a football club for say £35m, and you give the owner the chance to sell £5m of players before you take control, effectively you've now paid £35m for £30m of assets
You might as well pay £40m and sell the £5m of players yourself for all the good that does, at least that way you'd be in control of the process

Hasn’t it been reported by those in touch with the Aussies that player sales come off the asking price?
Not sure that someone paying £35m for assets - including players - would allow someone to remove those assets after completion.
I have no inside info but my guess is that the Aussies are holding up the deal and who can blame them. RD must want rid, he’s losing money month by month and will struggle to get another offer anywhere near this one. The Aussies hold all the aces IMO As for the delay causing the Aussies grief, I believe @JamesSeed previously mentioned that GM told him that they weren’t bothered as they are in for the long haul
If they hold all the aces then they are playing a very bad hand imo. Season starts in 5 days time & transfer window shuts in 10 days time. Roland is selling players for peanuts & as it stands our front line on Saturday will be a player loaned out last season & the other a youngster who hasn't scored a league goal in his career. If they are playing "the long game" then someone had better tell them that it has taken us 3 years (and counting) to get out of this league.......it will take a damn sight longer than 5 to even get into the Championship from league 2.
As I said last week, I don't who is worse.......Roland or the Aussies.
Well, let me help. One has fucked up the club for four years and the others bought a scarf in the shop.
@Airman Brown You’ve been pretty quiet over the last few weeks. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard things that are going on in the background. Any chance you can chuck us a bone to chew on until the next instalment if this saga?

Losing him off the wage bill may be more beneficial than having him as an ‘asset’

True, but I doubt you'd enamour yourself to the fans by taking over and selling off all the assets. Better to leave it to the bloke they hate already and take the club on once it's done.
That said, I'm not sure I believe that's what is actually happening. I think Roland is being difficult and the Aussies are dragging their heels a bit in the hope of forcing his hand.

If that really was the case, which I really really doubt, then the Aussies are the most f**ked up people I know. You don't agree to buy something & then sit by whilst its dismantled & run into the ground.
Roland will leave us in a poor state, that will take a long time to recover from, and then he can stand back and say "I told you so" when the instant result is not winning every game. That way, he will look (to himself) as a decent owner...(not!).

Think he's been quiet because there's f*** all to tell. And anything he has been told has turned out to be bollox.
Roland bought the club in about 2 weeks.... Maybe a long drawn out purchase will see us with owners that have the full picture and understanding of what Charlton is...
Firmly believe the deal is dead, why takeover this close to the season with no chance to shape the squad? Save £4m in running costs and do a deal nearer Christmas

Quite.
I’m surprised than people would think it takes anything other than a long time to negotiate a deal for a failing business which is bleeding money.

Oh that's unfortunate @Airman Brown coming from you...no need for poor grammar *other's
watching James Seeds swagger on this thread disappear has been all the signal I need to know it's not going to end well
What ‘swagger’ !?
This one?
(Loving the way he's got his name tattooed on him in case he forgets who he is. Couldn't his Mum just have sown a name tag in his shorts or something?)

Why takeover at Christmas takeover late next summer and save another £8m and maybe a price reduction or wait till Christmas 2019 and save more ad finitum and before long you will have saved gazillions and that ladies and gentlemen is straight from Napa Addicks book of how to make money from football

*Exits, head bowed, looking depressed*
He'll sell up when he doesn't want to lose anymore.
