That’s the emotional side of it mate and I don’t disagree but we are not talking emotion he hasn’t bought something that now has zero value
The value is 40.5mil or it was when the saudis offer was there also
If it’s true that the aussies have failed then that figure is no longer the value but in real terms he has an asset worth x amount and he should be able to recover that amount
I don’t like it personally on an emotional and football level if he lost that I wouldnt t care less
But it’s not going to happen so he should get his money back whilst we are a going concern because the only reason we are still a going concern is because he put his money in ( I may be wrong but that is how I see it with regards what would have happened if he hadn’t )
Yes he has run us like shit and he is like I said before at best profiting from youth sales and at worst asset stripping the shit out of us and that doesn’t sit well with me
So the sooner he is gone the better but for that to happen he has to be bought out
I'm struggling with the 'two individuals' having connections to other Clubs as being the issue here. Even #thebelgianbastard knew he could not be involved in both St Truiden and Standard.
The fact that the identity of both has been rumoured for sometime (neither British BTW), why would either want to 'downsize' to buy and run Charlton? Particularly considering the wealth of one of them.
And why would the EFL just say there were 'two qualifications' over the fit and proper person test. Financial involvement in other clubs is hardly a 'qualification' - it's a complete no no.
So if the Aussies miss the deadline, then what does Duchatelet do?
He still wants to sell and so far they are the only known buyers.
Is RD willing to cut the Aussies dead when there is no other party ready to put their money down.
Just can't see RD shutting the door on the Aussies 100%
This is the big question.
For less than half of the £7m owed to the former directors RD could pay off some of the ex-directors and arrange a lease of The Valley with The Aussies potentially until they do have the cash to buy The Valley.
That equates to 3-4 more months of funding £1m a month losses so really wouldn't surprise me if RD steps up his efforts to pay out some of the ex-directors and arrange a lease deal with The Aussies until they have the cash.
In the meantime the beginning of our sleepwalk to League Two gets closer while no deal happens.
How can only some of the directors get paid off who would agree to that
All the ex directors should be paid off in full or not at all ,
The amounts of money owed to each of them from the smallest to the biggest are life changing amounts to most everyday folk and it’s not like writing off a tener
Whoever buys our club should do the right thing by them all surely as without them the club would’ve gone into a admin years ago
We would have gone into admin without RD as well, should he also therefore be paid back in full?
Of course he should , the hatred for what he has done is correct and right and wishing he lost all his money is fine
But in reality he should get his money back because ultimately it did serve its purpose
Disagree entirely. He made his bed. He was only in this for one thing. To make money. Ignore the bullshit you may have heard about him seeing we were struggling and coming to our rescue. He should never have got involved in the first place. When I look at the long term damage this s**t stain has caused I don't think Admin would have been anywhere near as damaging.
When you treat something as a business, be prepared to get your fingers burned.

The point I was making is that the ex-directors don't need to be paid off as a group as they are listed individually and therefore can be approached for repayment individually. I agree they should all get every penny back but my point wasn't to do with how much they get paid back it was that RD might only need to approach the ones who would refuse to lease The Valley.
If the Aussies don't have the cash now how would they be able to raise the cash as well as subsidising the running of the club?
I think they always had the funding, but when two fairly major investors are biffed at the last minute, there are always going to be delays finding replacements with available funds, especially with such a risky investment opportunity. ‘Wealthy optimists apply here’.
It’s disappoinring nonetheless.
Also very confusing, if the deal was genuinely expected to go through as far back as February.
Not sure the Aussies said it was as far as I know.
The value of something is only what someone is prepared to pay for it at a given point in time; for a football club taking into account property values the playing squad etc. Whilst the Saudis may have offered £40.5m that doesn't mean to say that is what can be achieved now or going forward.
So I hope he doesn't get anywhere near that figure now and looks back finally realising he's screwed up big time whilst a crew cut looks back at him from the mirror. Fcuk him! Life goes on even if it means AFC Charlton.

No, that was Murray. Assuming that he wasn't telling an outright whopper, he must have had good reason to believe it.

Did the two 'fairly major investors' have connections with PL Clubs..? If so the likelihood of them getting on board was going to be slim from the off.
Hope we weren't being set-up as a Feeder Club for two PL Clubs...
One did, although I've heard the links were supposed to be severed.

Totally agree CB..Many Clubs have prospered big time after Admin, yet it still gets pulled up as the big no no.??

Poor decisions, poor spending, or plain stupidity should be paid by those responsible..?

When it’s not our own money it’s very easy to judge how it should be spent or redistributed back to the one who actually spent it
The value of something is what someone would pay for it and the value was £40.5 mil that’s the figure that the saudis were prepared to pay and was the figure the Aussies upped to ko them from the process
Who would walk away from that I don’t think we will get relegated I don’t think we will go up I think someone will pay that and ownership will change when that will happen only god knows and I honestly think only we care no one else in the wider world of football
Come on NLA you know better than that. Don't you run your own businesses?
Just because you put money in doesn't mean you will get money out whether through profit or a sell on price, nor does it mean you deserve to.
No real squad. No footballing management. No senior management. Training ground is a building site.
Who in their right mind would buy us in our current situation.
I can't help but feel The aussies are gonna pull out and we're gonna be proper fucked.
Or they'll seperate club and ground and we'll be on the road to AFC Charlton, what Roland has done to us is unforgivable.
We really need one of the previous groups to come back in, although I fear time has run out for next season and one why or another, RD will have some form of control over us next season.
Deserve to get his money back? Think I've heard it all now. He has trebled the debt whilst at the same time turning the Club into a complete shambles. He's very lucky he's getting 40m back. He should be selling for the 20m he paid and writing off the 40m he's lost through bad decision making and awful management. If he'd added 40m of debt but we were now in the PL then fair enough but he has done the complete opposite but still deserves his money back? Like fuck he does.

For someone who's never wrong and doesn't do failure he'll be hurting though Stu and totally p*ssed off from 1.5% of his business interests giving him so much grief which I can take plenty of comfort from.
He wants out and has to bite the bullet at some point.

That is correct he can do 7 negotiations if he wants and each deal can be different. Why did 4 agree to a deal, that is the question? maybe they were happy with the offer they were made or maybe they did a deal to stay involved with one or both of the potential buyers, only they know. As to Roland getting his money back, he has unsecured loans unlike the Ex Directors , that was his choice when he bought the Club. So by now he hopefully understands that they rank ahead of him in any repayment if buyers want those charges removed. Whats left after the charges have been repaid (House Sale comparison again) is all his, but for now he is a subordinated investor and always has been. NLA point too about club being in Admin without the Ex Directors Loans is true also and they did that without interest payments to allow Murray to find Investment rather than Administration. We are now 8 years later and two Owners later who have both failed in providing success, no wonder they want their money back.

Well they weren’t going to pull out yesterday or twelve months ago, so with a bit of luck they’ll get there any day now.
And they won’t separate the club and the ground. That’s propaganda.

For a man of his considerable wealth and power to be so concerned about what is a drop in the ocean for him says it all.
