Training ground is a building site.

Who in their right mind would buy us in our current situation.

I can't help but feel The aussies are gonna pull out and we're gonna be proper fucked.

Or they'll seperate club and ground and we'll be on the road to AFC Charlton, what Roland has done to us is unforgivable.

We really need one of the previous groups to come back in, although I fear time has run out for next season and one why or another, RD will have some form of control over us next season.

For someone who's never wrong and doesn't do failure he'll be hurting though Stu and totally p*ssed off from 1.5% of his business interests giving him so much grief which I can take plenty of comfort from.

He wants out and has to bite the bullet at some point.
I bet he's not hurting as much as I am, or 95% of this forums membership.
Maybe it's my 60 years of support that has hardened me as part of the remaining 5% then. As I said the other day he can't take away all my treasured memories down those years and I won't let it get me down.
I was thinking more of The Palace and Millwank we let on here :expressionless:
  • RD is a thoroughly nasty piece of work who is driven by spite. This is nothing to do with money and all to do with his pathetic ego.

For a man of his considerable wealth and power to be so concerned about what is a drop in the ocean for him says it all.

I used to think something similar but really, it's all about money. There's a reason he only loaned Charlton the money. He's entitled to be repaid and he aims to be.

I'll grant you, he is not a pleasant character but I don't think he really cares about us poor peasants enough to be spiteful about it. He'll do whatever it takes to get maximum return on his exit from Charlton and what we think about it is irrelevant, he wants his money. We're just one of the aggravating aspects he's discovered that go with running a football club.
  • What Duchatelet wants with regards to the money hes “lent” CAFC and exactly what someone is prepared to give him to take the football club off his hands are two different things. At some point realisation that the club isnt worth the debt it owes him will dawn. Until that point the debt and his eventual losses will continue to grow. He’s certainly bonkers but hes no fool.

Not having a go at anyone here but Im not sure it’s fair to keep saying the Aussie bid may have failed, just hours after GM has said it hasn’t. What’s the source of that info? He’s said they’re still in it a few hours ago.

I’m also not sure we should be using the Saudi bid as a yardstick, because we don’t know it’s 100% correct, as again we don’t know the source of the info. The £40 may be totally wrong for all we know.

In fact I would treat any info with extreme caution unless we know the source. There’s lots of unverified stuff flying around from all over the shop, and it’s doing everyone’s heads in. My critics will say I’m being used, but GM isn’t putting out figures or any info at all, other than they haven’t pulled out. It’s the third or fourth time he’s told me that, and they do still appear to be in the game.

If they’ve walked they’ve walked, and pretending they haven’t would be silly.

Any info that other bidders are waiting in the wings holding huge bundles of cash I’d treat with caution. RD is desperate to sell on his own terms, so it’s probable that everything he does is designed to get the Aussies to meet those terms, and it would be in his interests to put as much pressure on them as he can. He can afford to take a hit, but he won’t want to, in order not to lose face. I genuinely think he sees Charlton fans as the enemy to be defeated.

If there is a Brit consortium waiting in the wings (fronted by Murray possibly) hoping to get a bargain if the Aussies deal collapses, then again it would be in their best interests to undermine the Aussies’ bid. So both the leader of the Brit consortium and Duchâtelet have motives for making the Aussies look bad i.e. no money, Aussie nursery, buying the club, leaving Roland with the property titles, Rolf Harris etc etc. So any rumours involving those things I’d say treat with extreme caution. Except for Harris.

By all accounts players are being recruited in the background, possibly financed by the sale of Konsa, the boys are off to Portugal possibly financed by a sold player, so perhaps it isn’t all doom and gloom.

The message from GM yesterday was ‘Don’t believevthe rumours.’ I’m sticking with that. If they pull out we’ll know soon enough.

Of course the delays could be engineered to get the Pediction Thread up to 25 glorious pages ;-)

    Any idea on timeframes?

The value of something is only what someone is prepared to pay for it at a given point in time; for a football club taking into account property values the playing squad etc. Whilst the Saudis may have offered £40.5m that doesn't mean to say that is what can be achieved now or going forward.

So I hope he doesn't get anywhere near that figure now and looks back finally realising he's screwed up big time whilst a crew cut looks back at him from the mirror. Fcuk him! Life goes on even if it means AFC Charlton.

    Agree totally with both points.

Just an off-topic question... Is a foreign trip nowadays a necessary part of preseason preparation? Regardless of the club's financial condition?

Did the two investors who were rejected by the EFL keep their other footballing interests secret from the rest of the consortium? Or did the consortium know about these other footballing interests but were not aware of the rules governing ownership of football clubs in this country before submitting their bid?

A week in the british summer can be a virtual write off if its cold and wet in terms if fitness and conditioning. You cant do it all in the gym. A week of guaranteed warmth and sunshine is far better preparation for those early weeks when players are put through their paces.

Well they weren’t going to pull out yesterday or twelve months ago, so with a bit of luck they’ll get there any day now.

And they won’t separate the club and the ground. That’s propaganda.
No it’s not propaganda as AB confirmed Monday

Who is pushing for it is open for debate

Yes in business sometimes you win sometimes you lose for RD to lose we need to be at zero value and in admin

We ain’t so he should get his money back

Don’t mistake should for deserve I never said he deserves his money back

I said I would be glad and Happy if he didn’t but that’s not reality

We were saved from admin by the directors and I don’t doubt that ultimately RD coming in done the same again

Don’t confuse the passion we have for the club and rightly so for what the man who has driven us downwards should have

He is all about the money he won’t put us in admin he wont relegate us further due to losing the money.

He is not good for us he only served a purpose not to put us into admin

But let’s be real the club has a value and whilst it does he should get that money back not a popular view but reality

To say nothing of the potential to get away from off-field influences and interruptions, and the team building element (though that's of more use when players are being added to the squad).

  • The source of the Saudi bid was as viable as the stuff from GM coming to you @JamesSeed it came from within those doing the deal

I do agree with you though nothing confirmed yet it’s been rumours since Sunday night and still nothing confirmed

But this week has been deadline week too many people been told that from too many differing sources including AB so something gives either way this week

And I hold no hopes the funding issue has been resolved by the Aussies
  • Posted by @Airman Brown on doorbell thread.

Neither Duchatelet nor the former directors are “entitled” to get their money back on any basis except the agreement they made when they loaned it.

The ex-directors at least have a legal arrangement with a third party - him; what does Duchatelet have? In effect, a promise he made to himself when he gave his money away to other clubs, inadequate players and even CACT and the neighbouring rugby club. Good luck expecting someone else to pay for that.

  • edited June 2018
The 7M owed to the ex-directors is RD debt. The Australians have offered around 40M - so the rumour goes - for FULL title of the club. That means that RD must pay the 7M to ex-directors out of the money paid by Australians - leaving him with 33M.

Is this the sticking point? Is RD trying to pass this 7M debt over to the Australians, so pushing the purchase price up to 47M?

Is this the reason RD is trying to get a deal with ex-directors?
  • I have read probably around 1,000 of the 1,009 pages on this thread and this is my first posting.

I really hope that I am wrong, but I honestly believe that the takeover is doomed to failure.

My big concern is that without a takeover Roland allows the club to slide into obvilon just like the owner of Orient did.

    These are extremely worrying times.
