If he goes he will push on at Wednesday. And is one of the few players I see give a shit on the pitch when things aren't going right. Yep, he has a stinker just like any other player does but he can put in a decent cross and works well with a pacy left winger ( He was at his best when Bulot was in front of him ). I guarantee we won't get any one better in on the cheap.
I would be amazed if right at this moment Archie Edwards is the answer, good lad though he is.
I'm not sure why Edwards hasn't got near the first team yet. Maybe they're waiting for him to fill out, but I think it's just that he's naturally skinny. Looks tough enough to me. In fact he's looked a better FB than Fox for a couple of years now.
Can't believe the stick Fox gets from his own supporters, granted it's not been his best season but then apart from Magenis, Rudd and Holmes who has been good to watch? Konsa has arguably been at fault for 3 or 4 of the last goals conceded yet don't see him getting sarcastic cheers when subbed. Maybe some encouragement from us fans even when players aren't having a good game will stop the heads going down as quick as they are. If I was Fox I'd be biting Wednesday's hands off to get away
I'm not exactly sure what his best position is supposed to be, but Chicksen is definitely not the answer at left back. I don't rate him at all and TBH I can see him quickly becoming even more of a scapegoat than fox.
I'm surprised by that. From what I've seen he's good on the ball, and quicker than Fox. He can also cross a ball, and is decent at set plays. Given a proper run at left back I think he'd do well.

Fast, and so decent at pressing and looking busy. However from what I've seen he is awful on the ball and gets a nose bleed almost every time he is in possession. That ridiculous shanked cross against Peterborough(?) springs to mind when thinking of his crossing ability.
Owlsonline - I'm in the camp that says he will be a very decent player in a better side with a proper covering winger in front of him and a steadier midfield. He has plenty of Championship experience, even as a 23 year old and other clubs were rumoured to have been interested and one or two decent fees mentioned in the past. He's had a poor season in a poor side with little protection. The boo-boys have latched onto him as best scape goat and the poor sod would probably relish a move away. Very similar to Simon Francis whom we drove into Bournemouth's promotion side and who won't be looking back on his time at Charlton with much significance beyond giving him a bigger chance he took with both hands. I suspect we would let him go for much less than £2m.
Positives Good attitude, asked if he'd get a pro deal when he was 17/18 and told no, worked hard and won a deal by the end of the season.
He's had more than one set back - before the above he was released by Ipswich.
Likes to get forward and put in crosses. Some will laugh but at times can also pick out a decent pass.
Rarely picks up injuries and suspensions.
Not yet been consistent for a full season but when we've had a good run (best players fit, a settled line up, formation etc) he's been part of that and looked solid.
Passes the height test.
He's 23 and has a few seasons of first team experience. Not a big deal for normal football clubs but we were signing players of a similar age in the summer of 2015 with little to no first team experience.
Negatives Not quick or agile.
Uncomfortable running with the ball, not the most technical player.
Yet to be consistent for a full season.
Defending can be solid but other times looks beaten too easily by a bit of pace and skill.
Overall he's not someone many fans would see signing for a Championship side aiming for promotion. He's not someone that'll stand out on his own, he can look as good/poor as the team he is in - he's looked decent when we've had a good run in the Championship yet poor when we're struggling in League One.
Some will say that shows he's not good enough. Most academy players that break through are stand outs in their age group. He's one of those that wasn't rated as highly and needed time to develop. He's come through at a time when we've had an owner that regularly sacks the poor managers he appoints. Add to that a club that has a new squad every season, it's not a surprise he's not been consistent.
As well as the above he's had to deal with more booing and abuse than most of our players. In a settled team at a well run club it also wouldn't be a surprise if he does well. He's got the right attitude to do that.
When you read of £1m+ offers it looks like a good deal for us. Yet I can't be confident he'll be properly replaced. That's more about our club though than whether Fox is good enough.

May be wrong though, I usually am.
His free kick to set up our equaliser against Sheffield United was perfect though, the best free kick into the box all season
"If I recall correctly, Tutt-tutt pointed out some significant deficiencies in his game on the other Morgan Fox thread. He didn't question his attitude but did say we should have sold him when we had the chance.
I think it might be best for Fox that he moves on and makes a new start. If (and its a BIG 'if') the money is spent on a replacement that improves the team at that position, its good business."
@Missed It. - SSsssssssssh. Don't tell the Dee-Dahs
Whole hearted , committed player & " one of our own" who always gives his all....regardless of whether it's enough for some of the faithful. Sadly, he hasn't flourished as much as expected under the numerous managers on the Charlton merry-go-round but I'm certain it's not for the want of trying. Who knows what's gone on behind the scenes since the regime cast a shadow over proceedings in SE7 with the ever present lads invariably being affected more than most....
Spoke with him at the Shirt Sponsors' dinner in May & he wanted the close season to be over so that he could get back into training in readiness for a push for promotion. He said he knew the players had let us down last season was eager to rectify that ASAP. His family are Charlton fans & I believe his Dad, at least often goes to away games.
If the rumours are true and young Morgan heads north, I wish him every success at a "normal" football club. Hillsborough has witnessed many battles between the Owls and the Addicks over the years & Morgan will need to show his mettle whilst he battles for his place in the team.
I have every confidence that he has the guts & wherewithal to do so.
Two games sit in my mind, both very different, away to Blackpool when we secured promotion looked the nuts no pressure away to Millwall last week loads of pressure, very good both games, but from a fan who is very critical, we will regret it, and a loads of my lot will disagree let's see who is right, as others have said a crackin centre half in the makin
Fox is a decent defender. Caught out of position is rubbish, he defends tight and doesn't go wide until the ball is out there. Correctly. We were spoilt by Wiggins who was quick enough to do same and prevent crosses in. Not the paciest but suffers from lack of cover. Best crosser of the ball in the club.
If he goes look forward to seeing Edwards as cover for Chicksen although unaware if he is on the radar as no 1st squad exposure to my knowledge. Better potential than Solly in 3/4 games I've seen. Slight but fearless. Hope Robbo has him bookmarked.
A full back's first task is to stop crosses coming in and MF has yet to master this task as he is a pace or two too slow or alternatively a pace or two too tight to his CB.

That's true . Chris Powell was a master of this ; not that I expect bingo to be Of that class

Not the best crosser but the lack of pace over 3 yards going forward will ever let him being a quality full back
Frustrating and quality in equal measures, I suspect that away from our madhouse and in the right conditions he will become a top-half Championship / lower Premier League star.
I think everyone slating him has short memories regarding other Charlton "failures".
Any else worried that we are already lining up those ready to be offloaded and yet our manager claims to be in Belgium discussing possible transfer targets? Bit bloody late to be getting round to thinking about this isn't it?
Simon Francis the Bournemouth full back used to get loads of stick in division one with us and now is a regular premier league starter so he may go on to be ok. It would be a good move for all , you and Roland.
Perhaps Francis's inability to produce for Charlton what he has now shown what he is capable of should be attributed to Simon Francis more than the fans who didn't like his what appeared to be half hearted performances.
He has a good engine and a sweet left foot and has assisted a few goals this year. He is brave and blocks well. Not bad in the air. He is a decent defender but room to improve. Our problem is that we have had a succession of excellent left backs over the last decade or two, so Morgan does not compare well with the likes of Wiggins. He is more a dour defender than an attacker. Every game he plays he does both good and bad, so he is a mixed bag. I quite like him because you know what you are going to get. Wears his heart on is sleeve. Bless.
His problem appears to be his brain speed - he appears to hesitate too often when he shouldn't but otherwise the rest of the game is there when he wants to perform.

He's got a good attitude, absolutely but that alone doesn't make a player.

Good luck Morgan, wish you the best mate.
Will be sorry to see him go but totally understandable after some of the treatment from so - called fans.
