Scunthorpe is an unfortutunate name for a place. As I'm reminded when looking at the photo above.

    Graham Alexander gone at Scunny.

    That's mad. They’re 5th!
We were 5th when we sacked Parky.

Not with 9 games to go though oggster. Strange decision.
Yep, that's true Ricky. Though Scunthorpe have been misfiring for quite a while.
Nobody was talking about sacking the manager when they won 7 games on the spin just before Xmas, though.

Of course, there might have been something rotten in the State of Denmark, though.

And it was a ridiculous decision. Supported of course by the morons on here.

Probably waiting fro Robbo to join Oxford just so they could rule him out..........

weird decision if you ask me. Still in the play offs - perhaps they saw what happens when you get a new manager in.

Not won in 7 games. Bit harsh. If Roly did that after every bad run we’d be going through about 2 managers a season...oh wait...

Bonkers decision, for a team in 5th. Their attendance today was 3,789 which shows the size of the club
  • Blimey... absolutely shocked by that!!

    Would have Graham Alexander here

Especially brutal as he's a former Scunthorpe player and indeed came through their youth system

83 of the 92 League managers have served for less than 4 years. Once Paul Tisdale leaves Exeter in the summer, only Wenger will have been in charge for more than 5 years.

How many other jobs is someone given such a short time to make their mark?

Whats frustrating is the line from people... "Well if I wasn't producing the results in my line of work, I'd be sacked"

Actually unless you work for a rubbish company with no HR, by right you'd go through a disciplinary procedure and get various warnings before being sacked - The only way you'd get sacked instantly is for a serious breach

Whereas these Managers do just get sacked for a handful or bad (or good results in regards to Frank de Boer)

Yes, in reality it's just about impossible to be sacked from a permanent job unless it's gross misconduct.

The flip side for managers, is that if they are sacked when under contract, then they will still be continue to be paid for the rest of their contract even though they're not working!
  • Their fans should really be careful what they wish for

On the budget he's had; McCarthy has done a good job @ Ipswich

6 years is a decent time. Him leaving at the end of his contract seems like a fair way to end too

  • The most ridiculous sacking since Rowett left Birmingham.

They average crowds of just over 4k and they're above the likes of us, Pompey and bradford

Especially as they've only been in the Championship for three seasons since the 60s

They are a club meant for the third / fourth tier of English Football I'm afraid to say

Especially as each year, there's always a contestant who has an affair with one of the professional dancers...
