Perhaps the management are quite happy with fewer attending and having no protests. It may be that by staying away, the protesters are actually doing what the club wants.

I didn't attend yesterday.
That does concern me ...boycott seems to suit their needs

Absolute bollocks that they'll be happy.
I hope you're right. It is unlikely that she would admit that they're not happy with the attendance.

As someone who has exchanged views with Sue and often suggested she keeps her head a little more below the parapet, it is now clear she is happy, if not relishing, being the advocate for the regime regardless of the difficult position is probably puts her husband in. In her own way she is as bad as some of the more extreme people protesting in that she labels anyone who does not back Duchatalet as not really Charlton supporters and has an almost unnaturally fawning opinion of the capabilities of Meire.
I am sure the SMT are happy in that yesterday was probably the quietest day, in terms of dissent, since the last months of 2015. Given how little ticket sales seem to matter to Meire, she probably regards the absence of many hardened fans and their in-part replacement with those taking freebies as a worthwhile trade-off.

The fact is that 45% of season ticket holders - as I understand it - have not renewed, myself included. Regardless of what Mrs Big Gob Nobody thinks, I struggle to believe that the club can be genuinely happy with that. If they are, we are screwed.

CARD's cunning plan has obviously worked !
Lull them into a false sense of security then hit 'em HARD where it hurts!
I hated not being there on Saturday and I think I'm going to cave in and go tomorrow. I haven't got a printer so can't get a ticket online - does this mean I've got to get to the ticket office before 17.45 to avoid the extra charge?

You could book a ticket online & choose collection option for no extra charge.

The attendance wasn't bad on Saturday, even allowing for the freebies. I can imagine KM would indeed have enjoyed not having any protests during the game (there was one anti RD chant after the final whistle I think)
As posted elsewhere, afka's picture of the West stand, shows the boycotters are having an effect.
Let's not be tricked by meire's freebies tactic which inflated the crowd, (actual was 9600 in the ground according to ketman) and nullfified the protest atmosphere by bringing in tourists, most of whom won't be back.
Boycotting is an effective strategy among others. Well done those who continue to stay away.
If the actual crowd was around the 9,600 number that means if we deduct 1,000 for Northampton fans and approx 2,000 for comps and freebies the actual number of fans paying for tickets was less than 7,000.
Tomorrow night would have been a good opportunity to go for a near total boycott. There will always be some that attend but a crowd of about 3000 would surely get the attention of the press.
I didn't and im not going on Tuesday either. first game for me this season will not be till oxford away in September. followed quickly by millwall and Gillingham away. maybe as the season goes on i'll give in and pop to the valley but im happy to meet my mates after the game (they have renewed) call them scabs and get a detailed match report.
though as others have said protesting inside the ground has to be done as it can be effective. so that might be when i'll head down to the valley.
The club may well be happy with the crowd, but that's against low expectations as few people left in senior roles there can remember what the place was like full, and it was the first match of the season when plenty of folk are still on holiday.
It's too early for anybody - either in CARD or inside the club - to draw any conclusions about anything; the club knows August is always unpredictable, CARD (and any of us minded to protest or make a noise) has to be careful judging the mood. Tomorrow will be a bigger clue.
I got my freebie on Friday afternoon and there were a few other residents picking them up, but it's hard to say how successful they were at offering the SE7 freebies when they were only available to personal callers at a ticket office that shuts two days a week and is largely only open during office hours. Without wishing to be too disparaging of my neighbours, I'd suggest that many of the SE7 residents who are around during the week to take up such an offer won't have the cash to splash on further tickets in the future - it was probably a one-off for most of them. (Indeed, the club didn't even try to push the cheap lower-north season tickets, which you think they'd do if they had a working brain cell between them.)
As for getting folk with more disposable income, it's no good offering flyers to people at Charlton station on a Monday morning when the ticket office will be closed when they get home.
As someone who has exchanged views with Sue and often suggested she keeps her head a little more below the parapet, it is now clear she is happy, if not relishing, being the advocate for the regime regardless of the difficult position is probably puts her husband in.
I've noticed it's usually older people who tend to the ones who pick fights - I had my CARD t-shirt on and had an older woman who was a Valley Express coach volunteer comment loudly to me (without looking me in the eye) about people going on the pitch. I suggested she return to me when Meire scraps her coach.
I don't know when I'll be back - would be nice to see the AFC Wimbledon match, but I'm reluctant to give Duchâtelet my money. I suppose I'll find it a bigger dilemma at the time - we'll see.

I understand that the numbers of freebies boosted numbers, but surely there wouldn't have been 2000 people fewer inside than the published figure? That difference made sense last season when many ST holders couldn't be bothered to turn up, but surely the majority of ST holders will be attending this season (other than holiday/work commitments).
The East stand to me seemed reasonably full (obviously including comps) judging by the queues to get in, for food etc when compared to last season

You don't think meire and co would have published the highest figure available to them that didn't reflect the actual number of people in the ground, and regardless if how many of them were on freebies?

To paraphrase the late Mandy Rice-Davies she would say that wouldn't she?

You can have mine.
Not sure if you meant your ticket or your printer. After much faffing around in my own head I've decided not to go. It feels wrong to go. If you meant I could have your printer then yes please....
The song says 'they'll never take my Charlton away', this explains bodies in the ground. When I had a season ticket up to this year I was welded to going in a way, but now I don't have one I want to go, but don't feel the same kind of compulsion. I got an SE7 freebie on Saturday which helped, and my son didn't go at all. For tonight the cheapest option will be sought, of course if the club make it such a drag to even get a ticket then it is so much easier to say feck it and not bother with the faff. I see no particular crime for those going, each person has their individual story, and the same goes for those not attending. The energy in the attendance debate is coming from us the supporters, as the club are ambivalent about attendances if Sue Parkes attitude spreads to the SMT. It is one thing to be a present or absent supporter, quite another when it comes to being a passive or active one.
So after last weekend's excellent away win where I actually felt interested in the football side of things again (and enjoyed the 'just sell the club.....') I find myself in another confused state of mind. Bolton at home. IF I went I can't sit in my usual seat and suffer the 'siddarn!' from behind (a 'friend'). I will probably end up following the match thread at home. What a sad old git I've become.

Henry Irving?
Airman Brown?
Rikofold?
Prague? (unlikely anyway, I know)
Anymore?

Could be less than the 817.
