My neighbour is a Northampton season ticket holder. He travels up to most of their home games. He is going to The Valley today and wanted me to go but I have declined. I'm feeling really ill anyway and probably better that I stay at home.
I'm going courtesy of a freebie from clem_snide. Fair play to all of those who have stuck to their guns and are not attending. I also understand how hard it is for people to give up going, so anybody who has renewed / brought a ticket should be branded as an apologist or whatever.
But please, don't spend any money inside the ground, at the club shop etc, etc.
It's killing me but won't be going. As soon as this lot go, I'm back on it. Been part of my life for over 50 years but today I'll sit in the garden and follow the Twitter feed
On my way. Feel very odd. Walking to dartford station in a ten year old charlton shirt (the all sports one that looks a bit like this year's kit) and I feel almost embarrassed in public. Getting a few sympathetic looks and one not so sympathetic have should from a passing car.
Disappointed with those who appear to have changed their minds, but it's their choice I guess.
Whether to go or not was always down to the individual, as far as I recall CARD never asked for a complete boycott of home games
Strange use of quotes there. Who said anything about CARD? I don't need CARD telling me what to do and I don't need to look to CARD for any sort of justification as to what I do.
I, that's me personally stating my own view, am disappointed that when it comes to the crunch some people have changed their minds and have caved in on what they said they were going to do before, for whatever reasons. Not judging anyone or saying they're wrong - as I said its their choice - but personally I am disappointed.
Stuck with my no season ticket decision - and bought ticket for today and Tuesday (reduced price as its my birthday month) so giving as little to Roland as possible. Using these two matches to help me decide whether to walk away for good or just do a few (reduced price) visits over the season.
It's a cracking day so took the kayak down the beach for a couple of hours and had a splash about. Perhaps we should start compiling a list of alternative activities for Katriens "customers"?
Used a residents' freebie - wouldn't have gone otherwise. Weird atmosphere, particularly early in the match, although that may have just been the east stand... not sure when I'll be back. Probably the next freebie.

Why are you saying that people changed their minds?
How many people said that they definitely wouldn't go, but are going? Some people are clearly not renewing to ANY home games, which is perfectly reasonable, but the majority of last season's season ticket holders aren't in that boat. Some renewed, some may just buy individual match tickets, some have delayed renewing

Sorry, I think we're having two different conversations here.
People have changed their minds about going/not going. There's plenty of comments on this thread and elsewhere saying just that. I'm jut saying that it's disappointing to me as a general concept that people have done that, but as I clearly don't know everyone and their own circumstances then I'm not going to judge.
Not sure why that is difficult to understand or why you keep coming back at me when I don't think I'm saying anything particularly contentious, merely stating my view. But as I say, maybe we're at crossed wires here somehow.

All I was saying, is that I don't think that many people have changed their minds.
I doubt many of the people on this thread who are now going were 100% definite boycotters, most were either always going to go, or were people who never really wanted to completely boycott in the first place, but agreed to delay renewing to increased the pressure on RD and KM.
I was surprised by how many people around my regular East Stand seat had renewed actually.

My seat is in the East stand and of 7 of us that sat together I'm the only one who hasn't renewed.
I stuck by my guns and didn't go today, did some gardening instead, didn't really miss going to the valley and saved myself a few pounds in the process.
I really don't want to go back until this lot have left town.
I went. I can't envisage a season when i don't go to at least SOME games.
Strangely enough, when I'm there watching the shit being played (like the first half today) I can easily envisage never setting foot in the place again.
I can't dictate to fellow fans. My belief is that we did need to make more of an effort not to attend - at least for the first few games, but I may be wrong. Needing to appraise my sacrifice now, if others are not willing to do the same, so may start going again. Not criticising those that went - I do understand it.

Three generations lost until they get out of our club.
Should be heartbreaking but I feel depressingly ambivalent about it all this morning.
But please, don't spend any money inside the ground, at the club shop etc, etc.

Didn't look too different to normal match days- disappointing. People punching themselves in the face in my opinion.
It's heartbreaking - so worried we're fighting a losing battle and those boycotting will never get to see a game again at The Valley.

Said this would how we'd follow the team and no reason to change our minds.
Nice to see all the replies to off its question.
