Towards the end of last season they were a boxer forced onto the ropes covering up. Trying to weather the storm
Now they are a boxer screaming 'don't hit me, don't hit me'
Abusive, horrible adults start out by putting small animals in microwaves and washing machines. They end up torturing people for days before killing them and going more and more extreme each time because nobody keeps them in check. They don't get caught and held accountable.
This is one of the senior idiots putting a bowl of goldfish in the microwave.
The FA aren't helping us, they are using the metropolitan police as private security, a senior player is trapping off to the support.
They are killing us. I could see it as soon as they came in, someone. Anyone tell me why they should remain and not be forcibly removed
I thought the club come across pathetically as most of us would have expected. Assad, the BBC presenter, looked bemused. Probably the reaction of someone who can't quite believe a football club can do this to its life blood.
Something else to consider. A hell of a lot of professional footballers care not one jot for the supporters. They are seen as a necessary evil by a lot. When you consider each player as an individual this isn't shocking news as we would all look after ourselves and our families while getting the least amount of aggro at work possible.
Football is unique though. There is no 'football industry' without us (typing football industry males me feel sick) but so many genuinely believe the game, their livelihoods come from a magic pot of money. Not for essentially being paid to represent a community football team successful enough to charge people to come and watch them play. We all appreciate players who appreciate fans but don't be suprised if not all of our squad give one shit about us
If the guy had to admit to the use of foul and abusive language in the ground and on social media and apologise it seems that the truth shouldn't get in the way of a story.

No definitely not, just make him agree to comply and all is well
I know you are trying to be subjective but is that letter not the epitome of sanitising not just football but humans.
It's not recent news that football fans are emotional and prone to bouts of vulgarity both in person and social media
I swear worse than a sailors parrot at football and my father is the same. It's not ideal but I was always told that language was not for me and it was not to be repeated especially in the family home. And if it was i wouldn't be coming to football anymore with my dad.
Swearing on social media is a slightly different animal because there is a bit of a mask but as we all know it is pretty easy to track people and their behaviours via social media. That's why businesses pay such close attention to it and are very aware of it. Do you think Wickes who I recently launched an utter tirade at on social media in frustration at their levels of idiocy told me to watch my potty mouth or I could shop elsewhere?
No, they just ignored me and preferred to treat with the more sycophantic amongst us (you know who you are)
This is not even a new low. They have done worse however this is the best, most easy to share via social media fuck up they have managed, which given the track record is pretty impressive.
It's almost as if they want an empty ground on a huge slab of prime south London real estate
“I expected to walk in there, they’d have the contract laid out and that would be it,” he said. “I said I didn’t want the meeting to be mentioned, but they’ve [made it public] now regardless. I was going to take the contract away and take legal advice, but instead they gave me a telling off.
“I apologised for whatever was said, but at the end of the day they shouldn’t be sending these sort of letters. I am sorry, but I haven’t signed any conditions. I said I wanted to record the conversation so it was clear what had been said, but they said no.
“I don’t care what they do now. I’ve had enough of the club and how they’ve tried to treat me, and every other supporters. Let them do what they’ve got to do. I can still travel to away games. They can’t ban me from away games – I haven’t committed a criminal offence.”
Popped round to see my daughter tonight and her fella, a Newcastle fan, asked me about what was going on with the letter today, he'd seen something about it on Sky. When I explained it all he said 'kin ell, we hate Mike Ashley, but it sounds what's going on at Charlton is a whole other level'. This is big. Hopefully it's the first of the final straws that break the camels back and Roly and his cretinous little sidekick just get the f**k out of our club.

I have a couple good mates who support Newcastle and up until them hiring Benitez I always felt they were drastically underrated in the "worst run club" sweepstakes. Remember what Joe Kinnear did? Then what Joe Kinnear did that other time? and when they had John Carver as manager?
....very disappointed with the tone of the ST comments, the club have behaved appallingly (yet again) but the ST tone seems to suggest that this is now water under the bridge and we can all live happily ever after.
The club deserve to be absolutely publicly excoriated for this, not slapped with a wet lettuce leaf on the wrist.
I am actually infuriated by that letter. The club cannot take away a Charlton fan's right to freedom of speech, much less one that has shown loyalty by purchasing another ST even after 2 and a half years of mismanagement that has led to another relegation.
Agreed, but also should be noted that those of us who haven't purchased a season ticket are showing loyalty too. Not to the regime but to the club we love. Not being there on Saturday is going to hurt many!

I disagree, I think he answers honestly, which he has to do. The quotes in the second half make it clear they think this is stupid, but given a meeting did take place and that this was all resolved before it went viral, I think that trying to stoke the flames somehow could backfire on them.
The damage to the regime has already been done. The best thing that organizations like CAST and CARD can do is point it out (which they've done), and then sit back, take the high road, and let the people decide. There's no need to pile things on, the idiocy of the regime in this incident is self-apparent.
It's also worth noting that News Shopper will have chosen which quotes to run with, and those might not have been representative of the statement as a whole.
I can understand the regime's need to be heavy-handed with us Charlton yobs. After dealing with those nice, mealy-mouthed Liege fans for years, they must really be wondering what has hit them.
I wonder how many of these gagging orders they issued in Belgium?

Eh? What?
Bloody socialists, jumping on the bandwagon.
Anyway, glad word is getting around.

So now we know what Katrien learnt in Dublin.
I'm a bit confused as to what I read in the club statement.
Can someone fill the blanks. I also heard the fan in question rang talksport. Other then that, don't know much.
What did the fan actually say or do? How was he a threat? What's this video thing all about and how's it relevant?
Is there any new info that makes this stupid letter in the slightest bit, reasonable? I hope not.
