how can we have all those old men in midfield and lookman on the bench does not make seance to me if people think ajose will score 25 goals this season they must be mad he will be lucky to get 7
A striker needs pace in wide midfield / creativity in midfield. Its a team game. Ajose will find it difficult to score with the current set up & lack of pace in the squad.
I cannot believe that a week on the training ground, the club captain has not said gaffer, I can't play left mid. The bloke could do a job centrally but out wide it's painful.

How can uefa qualified coaches not see this.
Think he is seeing how inadequate our squad is and attempting to be solid. Shame we weren't even that.
Spent day on a beach at 3000ft then avoided match thread sat eating the worlds largest burger. Cheese, egg, ham, turkey steak, bacon, beef burger, tuna (yes tuna) with fries and salad. All for 5 Euro's. The cocktail stick holding it together was like a garden cane. Gotta love Spain.
As for my beloved Addicks, now feel very deflated after reading entire match thread. Waffle eating twats out. I'd have been there today of at home so maybe there is a god. Feel depressed for those that travelled today. Shame about handbags afterwards. It's not the Charlton way to deal with a humiliation. Sort it out Slade!
I think I am right in saying that is Charlton's lowest League position in our entire 95 year League history. I have one thing to say to Roland and Katrien - FUUCCCCCKKKKKKKKOFFFFFFFFFFFFYYYOOOOOOUUUUUCUUUNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Game not a classic game, Bury direct, Charlton held own first half, better second half, Holmes forced a save, if you don't value the basics in any league you get punished. 2nd goal didn't clear the second phase. Pearce didn't need to challenge for first, poor moment. Defended well up to that point, - a minute of madness. Shame for Rudd. 7 debutants, need more time in this transitional period. More business to do, will get better. Value the basics or Charlton will be punished. 1 new player in the next 48 hours.
For next game will look at who plays and needs a rest (midweek cup game). Needs to show improvement.

No surprise whatsoever. Now all of those people that were predicting a win today and possible promotion at the end of the season can take off those rose-tinted glasses and see the reality of CAFC under RD. The only way is down. As much as I support CARD I cannot follow the theme of "Support the team, not the regime". As far as I am concerned they are one and the same and I, for one, will not spend a penny following this team until he has gone. The only money that I will spend in respect of CAFC will be to attend/participate in any protests.

Judging by the bench today there are no senior players available so he picks the same team on Tuesday or fields a lot more kids.

If we field any more kids we will be done under the child labour laws!
Kevin Foley starting in central midfield with Crofts , Jackson on the left and Lookman on the bench resulted in zero pace, energy or creativity in one of the dullest halves of football I've ever seen. I thought Slade may have changed it at half time as 1,000+ Addicks could see the problem.
We started the second half brilliantly. Ricky Holmes is a quality little player, and his teammates know it. Everything was going through him. He had no support or movement around him whatsoever, which is to be expected when you've got a journeyman of a full back in the midfield. Fox put an excellent cross over for Novak at 0-0 and he just couldn't stretch enough to stick it in. Think Gazza at Euro '96.
Novak looks a handful, and even though he couldn't quite connect with our two best chances, at least he found the space and created the opportunities for himself. Ajose was nonexistent but he has no midfield behind him. Those two could form a good partnership but this team has a long way to go.
Final word to our fans. We were excellent. Quite simply, one of the best away turnouts in years. Everyone was in good voice with some great songs flowing. Non-stop singing, and we even had some bagpipes to accompany Valley Floyd Road. Nothing but 100% support for the boys....and then Johnson, conning a living, tells a group to f*ck off. Our supporters are, and always will be the heartbeat of OUR club and tools like him are everything that's wrong with it at the moment. We deserve better, much, much better. Russel Slade couldn't even be bothered to come over and thank us. Pretty poor that.

Lucky its the summer holidays and they have to be up for school the next day.

To be honest, the team needs the practise & could do with playing the whole team again (excepting Roger Johnson).

Agree, if players are tired or being rested after one game then it says something about their training.

Sounds like he said all the right things, but again, pressers don't get you points. We conceded twice from corners today. If this had happened under Riga or Fraeye there would be hellfire on here.
Up to your psychological warfare games again I see..
Ha! No conscious got the better of me and kids probably reading. Appalling today. Heard that taxi driver ferdinand rumour again today though about a takeover being on the cards so hopefully not bollocks.
I know it's the first game of the season and tbf I'm in a grumpy mood as it is but come on...... my soul is fucking aching. This shit has to end soon, we just don't deserve what is happening to our club.

From the same story or from a different source ? I need cheering up after the Bury debacle @RodneyCharltonTrotta and the only thing is going to do that is the prospect of Duchatelet selling up.

Okay I won't say anything next time, as your explanation of that is easily one of my all time favorite CL posts.
We must be getting close. Is there a trophy for that?
Great idea, perhaps we could spend some donation money on a big shiny trophy, commission a well known celebrity and have a formal ceremony at the valley gates.
