I thought exactly the same :) the more cash he looses the better!!
Perhaps Katrien Meire will finally get the fucking sack after losing EUR 3,000,000 of skinflint Duchatelet's money. Awesome contract negotiations Kat, you drooling halfwit!
You do not think for one minute RD allowed KM to negotiate a contract worth 3m euros without consulting him do you?
Well, its supposed to be the the one job that she actually does. If not, she is even more pointless than I could have imagined.
  • Tbf I doubt anyone would have been prepared to stump up much for him but the fact KM rubber stamped this contract is just further proof she's not fit for purpose.
  • To be fair to the regime, its hard to imagine any club paying money for igors Services
  • LOL just when you think it can't get any more ridiculous....
  • Interesting to see where he ends up. I would be surprised if concerns weren't raised at a medical,
  • True or not Igor has been just like Roland and the Puppet a let down and all smoking mirrors---- probably break his finger signing a new contract for someone else
  • who's going to ask if it's true at next weeks fans forum ?
  • Would not surprise me to see the fans forum either cancelled or with no senior management available.

Would imagine a number of players have relegation clauses allowing them to talk to other clubs but allowing them to leave for free? That's crazy.

    So probably right.

  • So Roland would otherwise ask for £41 million but he knows about the Igor clause.

  • If he had a 3 year deal, then with 1 year left this summer his value would be far less than what we paid for him, especially with the way he's played since the injury
  • Some new competition for Meire's top 10 blunders

If it wasn't so tragic it would be funny
  • Not bothered if he goes. Doesnt offer enough as it is. Had some decent form when he first got here, but that's all it was - good form.
  • For Meire and Duchatelet it makes it easier to meet their impossible dream of breaking even financially. Wages off the books.
  • I'm still holding out hope that this is just incorrect.

However, if it is true, I'm imagining Igor's agent raised the idea of a relegation release clause and Katrien, being a thick lawyer with absolutely no knowledge of how football works got confused and put it in as zero. Alternatively she stuck it in there as a way of sweetening Igor on joining the club, because as we know, they don't plan for relegation. 'What's this clause here Katrien?' 'It doesn't matter, because teams literally never get relegated. It will never, ever come up.'

On the plus side I imagine Roly will shit a lung when he realises what's happened. Fingers crossed eh
  • Makes a bit more sense now trying to loan him out to Bolton eariler in the season. She probably thought cash in now, though the daft bint failed to remember that Bolton didn't have a pot to pee in.
  • All part of rebuilding for the future. A plan built on balderdash and flim flam.

It's just more debt for the club that we can't recoup. This 3 million euros is what Katrien would deem as "investment" in the club but in reality it's a further 3 million euros we owe him (plus interest).

At the very least this is the sort of thing that drives us the asking price for the club.
He can load up the debt as much as he wants no one in their right mind is going to pay anywhere near the £38m he purportedly wants, so the level of write off is getting bigger all the time.
But its still debt owed by 'us' to him - he could pull the plug and sell all assets to recoup his debt.
    Shocking.

  • I wonder if the contract was negotiated by text message

Business acumen as cute as their football acumen I see.

    Shocking!

Let's be fair, he's been shit and stealing a living since his first dozen games for us. He deserves more abuse than what Makienok actually endures. Just another who didn't give a shit about the shirt

He really can't, because they aren't worth half of that and he has to pay the old board £7m first.
  • Maybe he can move with his wife and new kid to Belgium and play for stvv or to Ujpest.

It's a shame though because I remember his first few games before his first injury and he was dynamite.

The same sort of expectation you got when Lookman got the ball in his first few starts.

But 18 months of non performance through repeatedly mismanaged injuries, and time for decently prepared teams to work him out have taken their toll.

Whether he can become the same or better player than he was then is very questionable as is whether he would be good against the cluggers and refs in league 1.

I may take him as a reserve striker into my virtual championship club but I'd pay around £200k I think.

Too broken and not sufficiently focussed to pay more.

I thought the £7m was only due on promotion to the premier league.

Fixed charge on the assets, like a mortgage on a house. They get the first £7m if sold.
  • That will be a couple of million off the asking price for the club then ? How much money have they wasted ?

Charlton paying 3% interest on the Vetekele transfer, for a player who is going to walk away for free. How about reducing that from the 58 million debt owed ?

In which case, should this not have been paid off when Roland bought the club?

How can he sell all assets if the former directors have a charge over the Land and buildings? Somone the another day drew a good analogy with a game of poker and that is exactly what we have here, Douchbag is fast approaching the point when he decides to fold rather than keep funding a lost cause.

Furthermore It has been said many times that the club is worth more as a going concern than it being run down and wound up.
