Isn't there a maximum wage pool you can pay as a % of turnover in League 1? If so it will be as much around salary level as anything else. Turnover is dropping massively and therefore wages will need to also. Therefore those on championship wages unless they are prepared to renegotiate may well be parted out for that reason alone regardless of what fee we may get.
Even players like JJ, I don't know what he earns but it will be at the upper end of the squad.
I actually fear that outside of the young one's just having come through, almost all of the remainder will be disposed of and replaced with lower paid players......... as the old saying goes, pay peanuts you get........
Another thing to consider would the players on high wages want to leave? They may be happy to sit about doing nothing collecting their thousands per week, You can't force them to move to another RD club & if they refuse I foresee a situation where we end up with likes of Watt, Igor, Tex, Bergshit, Johnson, Cellebos & Ba being payed to do cock all and club refusing to play them.
Even if you payed up just these contracts you looking at a few million. Personally I'd be surprised if we got more then 3/4 million for JBG & Lookman, I don't think JBG good enough for Premiership and IMO has looked disinterested this season, Lookman is still so raw I'd be amazed if a premier club went higher then 1 mill for him I mean Gomez had represented England at youth level and was on premier clubs radar for a while and we only got 3 million for him!

Completely agree. Roland's approach is to try to break even at the level you are at. It means that just as he would not invest to compete in the Championship he will not invest to compete for promotion in League One. when you add in the incompetence of the management team there is only way way, down.
We know enough about him not not to be under any illusions. He will kill the club if he stays.

Only hope is that the fear of bigger losses in league 1 or fall in value of the club force them to invest to get us out straight away. But I don't think they think like this.
Don't think the issue is over whether they invest. They have spent plenty of money in the championship. However they spent it badly, with no direction and no joined up thinking about the bigger picture. This is because managers are seen as disposable and scouts as added extras.
