Here the official protest kit as advertised in today unofficial match day program. Before anyone asks the obvious questions...no we couldnt use the sword, The Valley, Addicks etc as the club has them trademarked. The design is an acknowledgement of the clubs achievements in the 1940's with the Robin style badge and a nod to the recent beachball protests. We would have loved to have used The Addicks, but the next best Charlton association is of course the Covered End. The team who came up with the design hope you like it, and please give use some idea of how many we should order by emailing us....here is the article from today's excellent unofficial program.

REPLICA PROTEST SHIRT: This is the new official Charlton protest shirt, which we are announcing for the first time today in our latest unofficial matchday programme.

CARD is calling on all Addicks to boycott the club’s official replica kits for next season – and to show their support for the team, but not the regime, by wearing an alternative shirt instead.

The club is likely to announce up to three new shirt designs in the summer, each of which will last just one season. Replica shirts are the major element of Charlton’s merchandise sales.

The CARD-endorsed shirt is of a high quality and utilises the black and white colours worn in the team’s 1947 FA Cup final win over Burnley, which have already been widely adopted by protestors this season in the form of scarves.

Profits from sales will go to the protest fund and a local charity. The shirt will be keenly priced and the intention is to make it available by mail order during the summer.

Further announcements will be made via social media and on the Charlton Life forum. However, it would be really helpful in the meantime to have an idea of the likely demand. To register your interest please email

    Just one question.

Is this shirt only to be work by those that sit in the North Stand? Otherwise I don't get the relevance of Covered End Choir?
its a prototype...by all means come up with a Charlton relevant slogan, but read the exclusions above first.....Covered End is something we all have some afinity with.
    Valley Floyd Road

    Valley trademarked.
Great work! A fantastic shirt Tel & Nug!

Just curious, would 'VFR' be trademarked?

If not, you could have that, with 'My Only Desire' underneath. (If additional ideas are still being considered)

I'm not trying to sound clever as that is impossible for me but has this design been trademarked to prevent the shirt from being copied? This would prevent the club from redesigning a kit that is similar? Or am I talking bollocks again?

Given black and white are the protest colours it wouldn't be the most sensible thing to do and this lot have shown they are all about sense...

does anyone have any idea what sort of numbers of official shirts the club would normally expect to sell in a year?

Update, Thursday afternoon. 436 emails received which we are processing (slowly) into a spread sheet. Lots are for multiple shirts.....we should have the prototype late next week.

Images are being trademarked by us and will be owned by us, the fans.

I'm confidently predicting that we have enquiries now for between 600-700 shirts.

We will email everyone once we have recorded your details. Please bear with us as it's quite time consuming.

And lastly.....thank you for your overwhelming support.

Would it be worth consulting CARD and finding out how many items of protest merch they sold?
I'd anticipate that the same people would want a protest shirt aswell so might be a good way to evaluate demand once people that aren't on this forum are aware.
If you're planning to do another order following the initial one then I guess it's not a problem either way.

    Top work anyway!

I think the numbers are published In the fighting fund report. So far we have advertised here and on Facebook as well as the unofficial program.

love the design. What is the smallest size that could be ordered (once you're up and running)? Would love my 3 yr old to have one.

Edit. As well as myself of course. Email sent.
