In terms of cock-ups the club will have to go some to top this. I am therefore, fully expecting the live match feed to be replaced by pornhub against Reading.
That will never happen, pornhub is something people might pay to see, it'll be the Ideal World shopping channel....
I can assure you pornhub is free.......
I was very careful not to give the impression that I might know that... ;-)

They would end up playing Charlton vs Bristol City on a loop for 365 days of the year to customers, but they would badge the match as Real Madrid vs Barca !!!!
Shook my head in disbelief when the error occurred, but all through the minutes applause,my thoughts went back to the superb team that Graham,Campbell,Tracy,Tees etc.played in and what a joy it was to come to the valley to see them play, how times change.
If you want to understand the background to what happened today, read Matt Wright's article on the comms dept in the current Voice. I have total sympathy with the person involved - mistakes happen - but if you staff your comms dept with enthusiastic but inexperienced young people (and not enough of them) it will come back and bite you on the arse.
TBH I really am at breaking point with this so-called professional football club & today's gaff just epitomises all that is wrong with this amateur outfit. I'm totally p*ssed off with all the mistakes & I'm sick & tired of listening to their pathetic excuses week in, week out. I don't want to hear it anymore, it's embarrassing & I'm totally ashamed of what we have become - a total laughing stock !! #RantOver

Never get rid of all the grey hairs..........or bald heads..........they have the 'seen this before' factor - amazingly helpful no matter what industry you are in !!!
Wasn't there today but have seen what's happened and my overriding emotion is sympathy with Olly.
This kind of mistake is a result of the club consistently not replacing senior members of staff - that is the long and short of it.
Matt Wright's piece in the VOTV sums it up pretty well. The Communications team has lost about 25 years of experience in the last three years - that experience hasn't been replaced.
I've said before that when Matt Wright and Gary Haines left, myself and Iain Liddle were running the club's communications output when we didn't really want to be.
We wanted, and were promised, help. We needed an experienced person in a leadership role that could really lead our comms team while advising and really challenging the CEO when she was wrong.
When that help didn't come myself and Iain eventually departed leaving Olly, an incredibly talented and hardworking guy in charge. But it is his first job. Imagine that, your first real job trying to put a positive spin on what's happening.
It wasn't until I started at West Ham that I realised just how ridiculous our situation was.
So I agree with Matt that Olly deserves credit for keeping things going in what I know to be really difficult circumstances. Mistakes like this are embarrassing, but do you blame Olly, who has been doing the job of three people? Or the club for leaving a junior member of staff to do the job of three people?
I stood and clapped in disbelief, appalled. I don’t want a witch hunt. I don’t want Olly or anyone else to shoulder the blame I do expect our CEO to make a personal and public apology on behalf of the club to the family and supporters that remember this great man I’ve just checked the club’s website and nothing Absolutely disgraceful I don’t support the disgusting songs sung about our CEO But she needs to understand the role of a CEO and responsibility
Wasn't that Alan Campbell in the picture? Complete disgrace if so.
Indeed it was. I looked and looked again because I was sure I must be mistaken.
Disgraceful in my opinion that the Club managed to get such a sensitive matter wrong, particularly when we were playing another of Graham's former clubs, but not surprising sadly given the contempt that the powers that be appear to have for our history.
A poor error and in this instance not one that can be blamed directly on the regime or Katrien.
It should have been checked but clearly wasn't. I'm sure there are reasons for that and partly that is due to staffing issue but that isn't, as Olly said, an excuse. As has been said the image on the OS all week was correct.
But once the error was made is was admitted and an apology was issued.
No "I was misquoted" or "the image was taken out of context"
For that at least Olly and the comms team deserve some credit. They got it wrong, badly wrong, but held their hands up, issued an apology and did what they could do to rectify the mistake ASAP
Infuriating. Not buying this 'it's just a mistake' argument either.
A 'mistake' would be a typo or calling out the wrong number for a substitution.
Not sure what you mean. Do you think someone did it on purpose?
No. I was just trying to put across the point that it shouldn't be so easily dismissed as a mere 'mistake'.
It should be perceived for what it is - as an absolutely monumental fuck up which should not have happened but did happen because of a lack of attention and sheer shoddyness.
This thread demonstrates the gaping divide between CAFC and McCAFC. Stalwarts, Giants, on the one hand (and with the greatest respect to those striving to bridge the gap) McCrap / McGimmick on the other.
History...so much history.... Pride, Service, Passion, Endeavor....
And the present.... a mess. A horrible, alien, unfathomable mess.

* - You have absolutely no idea what this means, do you?
As a Lifer who travelled home from last Saturday's match with a couple of scouts from other Clubs said, we are now perceived as a joke of a Club.
You're absolutely spot on there. I had a business meeting a couple of weeks back with the chairman of another Championship club. Once the immediate business was out the way we talked about football and he was saying about how the league is such a difficult one to get out of.
"I dunno", I said, "my lot are having a good crack at it this year"
"Who do you support then?"
"Charlton"
Cue a smile, a shake of the head and "Just WHAT is going on down there? It's an absolute basket case. Such a shame"

The same message comes back to me. Meire is laughed at behind her back when she attends meetings with representatives of other clubs because of the nonsense she talks.

Pornhub vs Reading - that would be a dirty game - would sell out !!!
When we were kids and found some mags up the woods, looking at the pictures was always better than Reading.
I am sure olly was aa embarrassed as the rest of us
Yes it's a disgrace and yes it's a shambles and embarrassing example of what's gone wrong at the club
But it was just a mistake
Well said. And lets be honest, how many of those saying its a disgrace would have had any idea if it hadn't been pointed out? I'm 40 and would have no idea what he looked like so anyone younger than me can't say they immediately realised. Embarrassing for the club though.
I appreciate younger fans would not have noticed, I first saw Moore and Campbell play when I was a child, but I know the difference! Surely with something is important as this, the photo used should have been checked, and double checked, we had Theo Foley and Keith Peacock in attendance yesterday, so why not ask one of them if unsure? Not only does Graham Moore's family deserve an apology, but Alan Campbell too. Total embarrassment for our once great club.
You can google image Graham Moore and get lots of pictures. It was an error, but a heart-breaking one. I don't want to use it as part of the protest. The club should apologise publicaly to Graham's family and supporters. These are mistakes that shouldn't happen.
As all of you know there was a mistake with the image which I can only apologise for. I was as distraught as anyone when I realised what had happened.
I can assure everyone it was definitely not deliberate hence why I’m as upset as everyone that it happened. In fact I was trying to make sure everything was respectful hence spending Friday night programming the banner to turn off as I didn’t want adverts on the screen during the minutes applause.
There was over 100 different images, videos and graphics made for the big screen for today’s game which is a lot more than usual and although it would be easy to say in such a busy week mistakes happen, but if it was an error on a ticketing image then it doesn’t matter but something like this it does matter to the family and the fans which is why I can only pass on my deepest apologies.
When spotted what had happened we worked to try to rectify the situation with the half time apology and the correct image displayed.
With such a busy week, things did slip when they shouldn’t have, and we will be putting in procedures instantly to make sure work as important as this is checked over again and again so errors can’t happen again.
Once again apologies to any fans but more importantly apologies to the family, we will make sure mistakes like this don’t happen again.
Problem was someone choose the wrong photo regardless if you had one image or one hundred. The blame lays with the person who passed over the Alan Campbell photo.
I agree.
But I'll give credit to Sam and Olly for making the apology and very quickly. It was needed but it was done. You next Katrien.
I can just imagine how the photo was chosen:- opens up bag of popcorn, puts straw in can of coke, put's feet up on desk & says "Ip dip dog shit you are not it"
Us "old uns" looked at each other in amazement she Alan Campbell's picture appeared on the screen. It's true people under 45/50 would not know it was not Graham. KM would be happy no one in the ground knew it was wrong as us of the old brigade are not wanted there.

Bloody hell, it's just so poor.

Sadly, this perception is fuelled week on week by the ineptitude of a regime to see past their mantra of " breaking even".
Someone asked earlier whether Graham's family had received an apology in person from KM , or even RD if he was in fact present today....
With the answer likely to be in the negative, it reminded me of a pertinent nursery rhyme from the Stone Age when I was a nipper...
"The King was in his counting house, counting out his money.
The Queen was in her parlour, eating bread & honey.
The Chair was busy with his guests, in usual Chairman pose,
Along came Pinocchio & poked him with her nose "
I don’t want a witch hunt.

The person responsible was Katrien Meire.
(Addickted, it's an in-joke based on NLA's comments in the Adam Johnson thread)
But I'll give credit to Sam and Olly for making the apology and very quickly. It was needed but it was done. You next Katrien.
