  • There's a few Teixeira's over this way, though in it's anglicised form (Teceira). Pronounced Te-seer-ah, if that's worth anything.
  • Liege fans seem to like him
  • taeyshe-raa she-raa
    whatever will be will be
    were off to division three
    teayshe-raa she-raa
  • 4.5 years ?

Spot on - why would any club commit to a deal this long with a player that is a known quantity.

Didn't we learn from Bergdich ?
4.5 years and available for transfer after 0.5 years because he is crap.
  • Heeeeyyyyy Jorge Taeyshe-raa ooh ah

    To the tune of Macarena?

Do any other Championship teams hand out 4.5 year contracts (apart from the ones who like to pretend they're still in the premier league despite being trillions in debt) ?

Outside the Prem you have to be something special to get more than 2 years.
  • For me, it shows how CAFC lacks football club experience at senior level (chief exec etc).

Why not sign him and build an extension clause into the contract ?
    For example:
Rob Green has a deal that triggers an extension if he plays X number of games this season.

To think that we let the French bloke go for peanuts because he wanted a 2 year deal, and we then hand out much longer deals to other players. Add to this, Lepointe/Bergdich/Pete Pole/Tucu etc and there is no logic.

It seems to me that the thinking behind it could be that the 4.5 year deal will be somebody else's problem when RD walks away.

Let's hope so - the RD regime will finish the club off if they keep doing crazy deals.
  • And these long deals will really hurt us on relegation.

Should we get the ones taking the corners and free kicks as well?????

    Could even help Makienok...
shows the quality of Belgium's league Piss Poor defending
I should imagine there would be a few Belgian fans who would think the same of The Championship if they saw some of the defending from our last two games.
Actually, 3 weeks ago, R. Antwerp had the best defense stats ... of European Pro clubs (1st & 2nd Div clubs). And that's a 2nd Div club ...
  • It shows we can't get players in. 4.5yrs is a joke and probably the only way he would join i.e. Guaranteeing a nice retirement.

That's easy when you're playing against Belgian 2nd division strikers though...

    ;-)

    (just kidding..)

I was thinking that and my hope is that RD has decided to sell but thought 'I'll show 'em' and sign a few players first on silly long deals just so we are stuck with them or in the future lose money on them.

  • keep reading here it's a 4.5 yr deal but reading the interview with him on the OS it says 3.5 yrs. Which is it?

Either is long enough for us to be struggling in Div 4.

    Sky Sports News reported 3.5
  • Somebody put up a link to his profile on Transfermarket and I think I saw that his contract with SL was until 2020 so looks like we have just 'honoured' that. No doubt with a pay increase.

O/S now updated. Both stories now consistent and both say 4.5 year contract. That's a long contract by any standards (except Pardew at Newcastle of course!).
  • The lad has champions league experience.
But then so does Naby Sarr.
  • 4.5 yrs is utter madness.
  • 4.5 yrs is utter madness.

Prem clubs buy players for 50m and don't hand out contracts that long. Madness indeed.

"Jorge Filipe Avelino Teixeira, you have pleaded guilty to the charges brought by this sport and it is now my duty to pass sentence. You are an habitual footballer who accepts defensive lapses as an occupational hazard and presumably accepts relegation in the same casual manner. We therefore feel constrained to commit you to the maximum term allowed for these offences — you will go to Charlton Athletic for four and a half years."

    This. Brilliant.
