RS for practical and financial reasons perhaps, but Tex will be fully aware the club are trying to move him on post haste. Can't really blame the bloke for wanting out, in fact if anything I find it laudable that he'd rather be playing somewhere and taking a potential pay cut than sitting on his backside raking in cash for no effort.

Yep, I can. Sign a 4.5 year deal with a team in the relegation zone, you go into it knowing you might be playing football a league down the next year. If you don't want to play in the lower league that much, make sure there's a get out clause in the contract. If not then suck it up. Now, if Tex comes into the team and gives 100% effort then good on him, but if he's not bothered then sod him.

If we are challenging for promotion in January might RD and the player himself decide that he should stay to play Championship Football that might at that point be confirmed 4 / 5 months later on or perhaps sooner ? He could have a hand in seeking to achieve that . He is a footballer employed by us and hopfeully that is what they are all trying to achieve. After all he would still have 3 years left on his deal and he was signed for that purpose .

If he's playing well he'll attract interest from clubs willing to push the boat out being January. If he's playing well and we keep clean sheets and win games we may well be in the mix for promotion in which case he may well get the Championship football he signed up for and in which case he can put this year down to his own judgement of signing a 4.5 year contract with a team in the relegation zone.

Sure we also moved on Sarr et al but the core of our better players left as you would expect for a relegated club (although Bolton only sold one major player I believe).

That said, he is still an outstanding player at this level so would be silly to freeze him out.

Yeah, you're right, they have sold some of the best players - probably for the transfer fee as much as reducing the wages. It is my understanding, also, that the players that have left wanted to go, rather than us 'pushing them out'. What I meant, though, is that they might try to keep some of the better, younger, players and push Tex out rather than accepting that he is going to stay so we sell Bauer and/or Lennon and Konsa to equalise the wage bill.
