At last some luck .. of the good variety .. we should have been carried out the ring after an hour or so .. yet again we concede from a corner just before 1/2 time, they miss a (very dubiously awarded) penalty and at least three not just good but golden chances .. the experienced men Diarra and Vaz Te limp off, Cousins does not appear for the second 1/2 , we are pretty clueless .. BUT .. VERY importantly, we did not chuck it in and got a goal at the last gasp . we nicked one here .. the Bristol players almost to a man sunk to their knees when we equalised, they knew they'd blown it ... the Addicks players were ecstatic ..
The team ?.. Sarr came on and did very well, Ba was man of the match bringing some pace, aggression and quick passing to the midfield .. Lookman found out what it's all about, he was bullied and bruised by the tough Bristol defenders and got no protection from a poor referee, booked for moaning about it .. Solly is still off the pace .. Fox ? .. well he never gave up .. Lennon .. solid and GOAL .. Jackson, calm composed but a little off the pace, stuck it out well.. Holmes-Dennis. neat and tidy out on the left .. Bigmak .. won a lot in the air and got stuck in .. best game for quite a while .. Reza.. skilful and did OK ..Henderson .. himself as always ..
However, we were second best to a not very good team .. Freeman (ex CAFC Junior) ran the midfield .. we need consistent selection, fewer injuries (yes I know, beyond control) .. you cant expect a new look team every game to gel right away .. I repeat we were poor but stuck it out and got a point for our bravery and persistence .. hoped we'd get a point, I am not TOOOOO disheartened ..
A point here won't save Fraye's bacon. They will have lined-up the next Alex Ferguson already and defeat on Monday in front of an angry but small Quid-for-a-Kid crowd will see Fraye become the fifth 'manager' sacked in less than two years. With relegation looking odds-on, the sixth manager of the Duchatelet debacle can look forward to his four or five months in the spotlight before we rebuild for next season. Feels like Groundhog Day doesn't it?
1. Checked BBC for half times, quickly saw 1-0 90 +6 2. Stuck a crap comment at the end of the match thread along the lines of "crappy New Year..." ho ho ho! 3. Didn't even realise we had equalised till half an hour ago!!!
Has my devotion to this magnificent football club come to this?
Sad sad times
Since moving to Canada 5 years ago I've listened to the full 90 mins of every game that I could. Today I saw the starting lineup and nearly didn't bother tuning in, it was so obvious the way the game would go from there but I tuned in in the usual blind hope. When even Tel was struggling to sugar coat the performance I decided to give up at about 35 mins and go watch the Liverpool vs Leicester game. When I found out we'd drawn I was surprised but pretty apathetic about it.
I remember being about 15 (in the days before the Internet) and dragging my mates into Comet at 17:45 on a Saturday (we were hanging out at the local shopping centre) because I had to know the result. When I saw the game was still going and we were losing 2-1 (to Leicester IIRC) I stood in front of the display TV and watched Ceefax roll round from page to page waiting for the little FT to appear next to our score. Then the page changed and it said 2-2 Mendonca 90 mins. I didn't go "Meh" I went mental, right in the middle of Comet.
Like you, I hate that it's come to this, but it's hard to care about the club when the club doesn't seem to care about itself.
Sarr came on and did very well, Ba was man of the match bringing some pace, aggression and quick passing to the midfield
Were we at the same game?!
thing is .. there are none so blind as those that will not see .. your 'remark' is a little sketchy .. that all you have to type ? .. Ba and Sarr did OK .. over to you Blind Tom

Kind of ironic reply seeing as you've described the penalty as very dubious. Only seen the lowlights but it's clearly a pen.

Did you have your eyes closed when Sarr was dallying with the ball on the edge of our box, in a seemingly unthreatening situation, and their striker nicked it off him and he fell on his arse?
Or the attempted clearance which he completely mishit and it just deflected off his shin. Inside the area.
I know everyone sees the game differently....but Naby Sarr played well!? Sorry Lincs, I can't have that!
That was a truly awful performance, keep that up and we're in league one next season. When I heard the lineup on the way into the ground I thought, flipping heck, that's a bit attacking, this games going to have goals aplenty.
Too say our attacking prowess and intent was pathetic was an overstatement. I didn't go to Burnley and witness what went on, but today we got out of jail against a very wasteful side, they could have been 4 or 5 up at half time with a bit more nous in front of goal, & with some inspired saves from Henderson.
Got to be one of the most inept uninspiring performances I've seen from a Charlton side for years, Karel is so off the pace with his bizarre decisions, we are going to get hammered by Wolves if we play like this at the Valley, or any half decent team who are useful in front of goal.
I simply can't identify with this club or team at the moment, they look beaten, the manager is too weak or clueless to get them playing to their max, we didn't deserve a point to be honest.
Apologies to anyone on here around me for shouting my usual missssss at the top of my voice when the penalty was taken.

This was a new low for me. I'll probably get flagged for this, but honestly, when we equalised, I had no happiness. The difference in the reaction since the last minute winner against Hull is night and day. But really, it's worse. There was a small part of me that was actually sad that Fraeye had served up another useless performance and would actually get some credit from some. Yep. I'm there. A defeat would have been okay. When a draw or defeat mean nothing, you wonder what has happened. I've loved Charlton since my dad first took me as a kid back in 1974, but this is beyond me. Seeing Katrien going live to explain how foolish our fans are was much more than I'm prepared to put up with. Sack Fraye. He's useless and it makes RD and KM look like idiots. He's doing as well as Parky did when he started and we all know how that ended.
I wasn't there so maybe should shut up, but reports seem to betray a familiar pattern...... Fox incredibly awful, markers not marking, zero creativity and far too easy to play against. We've suffered far more than most over a period going back to 2007. The present incumbents offer nothing and have proven to be incompetent beyond any imagination. Unfortunately, they also look likely to stick around unless subjected to a lot more pressure than is currently being applied......Why can't we (instead of so much talking) organise a mass boycott of impending home matches? This is not a betrayal but would represent a level of discontent they've not witnessed to date. The publicity value is also huge and I would anticipate much support among sports writers and other supporters. It needs a few thousand leaflets, a collective will and I promise I'll walk away from that turnstile against Wolves on Monday.
Just got back on the coach. Shit performance. Had Bristol City been any other side this post match views thread would be full of bitterness and anger. We're joke of a club with an incompetent prat as an owner!!!!
I've heard several posters suggest a mass boycot or some other form of protest to really hit the current regime hard. I know it's easy for me to say given my situation and relative distance from the Valley but I really think this is the only way these buffoons will listen.
Does anyone have any good contacts in the media we can utilize? I think it would really help to get them onside.
Just watched the highlights. Amazed we got anything at all. Currently trying to persuade my daughter to come on Monday, not succeeding :-(
You need to be a bit careful here. That is drifting into child abuse. My youngest threatened me with a restraining order after I let her see the highlights of the Burnley game before the 9 0'clock wáter shed.
Apologies if you already mentioned but Cousins fainted in the dressing room at half time. He had been ill all week.
Well done Jordan for showing the determination to play but doesn't it sum it all up that we are so desperate for players and so short of cover that we use players so unfit that they collapse because there is no one else.
Or at least no one other than Ba, a player considered so poor by Fraeye he dropped him for Burnley.
all you people keeping moaning about the manager and the owner, you lot that write on here have short memories because when Slater and Jimenez owned the club we would now be playing in the conference.
I don't particularly want to defend Slater and Jimenez, I'd like to think that as a club we can do better than them. But when it comes to comparisons, we got one more promotion under them than we'll ever get under the Belgian experiment.

I wasn't there today although we had tickets and it's now 2 away games on the trot without the Fanackapans.
As I posted on the Match Thread, I haven't been feeling great for over a week now and after a low key Christmas Day yesterday with the family, made the decision to have a pj one here on our own and forego the trip West.
Maybe I've been deluding myself in saying I'll be ever present at matches but I truly felt that was the case.
But if I'm really honest, there was a part of me today that felt relieved at missing out - and it hurts to admit that.
When I read MIA's comments just now, I could identify with the way he feels....To watch the team going through the motions - to witness players like JJ giving their all to no avail - saddens me more than I can say.
And to know , clearly now, that little, if anything will change in the owner's deranged vision for our Club, the bleakest of pictures is conjured up. And hope is just a meaningless word.
My 2015 has been one of ups & downs ...in fact Henry's bumpy ride in a nutshell. And of course, it's been worse for many Addicks. But in the past, the difficult times have been pushed aside every Saturday between August & May , at least for a couple of hours or more. However, of late, those Saturdays have been the DIFFICULT times & the lure of The Valley or a distant away ground has started to lose its attraction and become more of a chore than a pleasure.
When I lost my Mum back in September, I knew it was her time & mourning her loss was countered by the thoughts of " a better place". But feeling "down" & emotional last night, I shed a few belated tears as the first Christmas Day without her ended.
This afternoon, in a similar manner, I shed more tears but this time for the loss of our Football Club as we knew & loved it and the emptiness I experienced yesterday widened.
IF boycotting home games is one of the most significant ways we can demonstrate to the current regime that we won't stand by to watch our Club die without a fight, then I've now made the decision to join the thousands who are already voting with their feet. But there would have to be a significant number of absentees at a specific game - enough as others have stated to make the media sit up and take notice. This is a huge step for me but one I am determined to take if it will make a difference.
Apologies for repeating myself ( and that's one of my current health issues !) but we HAVE to fight for our Club before it's too late and if that means making sacrifices, so be it.
But we need a Leader...someone with the time, energy, determination & ability to bring such course of actions together, away from the prying eyes of those who report back to KM. Alas, it's not enough for individuals to make their own protest - it needs to be orchestrated on a larger scale as Lifers have suggested before ....Today was the breaking point for me for various reasons and I believe the performance this afternoon under the ineptitude of KF was the last straw for others too. The time is ripe for action.

Fraeye has now achieved the same tally in the same timeframe.....so surely he should go.

Hope you're all right by the way Jordan, I did the same when we lost 5-0 away to West Ham on Boxing Day.

We're calling out for a hero.....
Is there anybody there ?
Complete farce.
Seriously, it's Sunday league stuff. 'Dave's turned up pissed but we've only got 10 so stick him up top and just let him win a few flick ons'.
Two bob outfit.
