  • Do not let Katrien define you, your club and it's future direction.<

As stated in my post, I am waiting to see how KM responds to fan's concerns. Based on her responses to issues like communications I will then make a judgement as to whether I feel see is up to the job.

Wow, how long do you want in order to make a judgement as to whether Katrien Meire is up to the job of CEO?

We have had over two years of gross incompetence and highly questionable comments from KM some bordering on contempt for the fans and indeed the club (e.g. "Le passé glorieux de ce club? Je m’en fous". Après un an et demi, le défi est toujours présent pour la Belge Katrien Meire (31 ans): donner une nouvelle vie au Charlton Athletic, club anglais de deuxième division - L'Echo, Sept. 2015). I am reliably informed that the second sentence of her quote translates literally as "I don't care".

For God's sake do some research man.
You can find online sites such as How Roland Duchatelet and Katrine Meire are ruining the Club.
Read Yann Kermorgant - "they have wasted the club" and read the reasons he gives.
Read statements by VOTV's Airman Brown relating to the regime and how it operates.
Read Charlie Connelly's cry from the heart -
On communications - she allowed a respected professional in Mel Baroni to walk away from the job in disgust after only 40 days or so. I could go on.............and I will... she deserted the club and went on holiday to Dubai at a critical time in the club's fortunes - oh yeah - give her the benefit of the doubt on that one did you?

If you are still giving Katrien Meire the benefit of the doubt then I guess yes....you are the only one (opps sorry forgot about Sue Parkes).

PS. Sheepishly.....some of the above hadn't happened at the time of the original posting. still what the hey?
    Alti Addick is an apologist.

I had a spat with him and his chum(exiled addick, or exiled in manchester)today.

They said they want to see the game in peace.

They said they want to watch footballl with no swearing.

They said that MANY of the 5000 who did not renew were actually West Ham fans.

They had NO answer when asked whether Meire was doing a good job.
We REALLY do have some 'unique' fans...

The thread on here regarding non renewals shows what garbage and quite frankly offensive statement to many of us who have not renewed if true about non renewals being Hammers. Any truth in this @altrinchamaddick

Charlton fans fighting each other. Give it a break. Peoples opinions are much like farts, everyone quite likes their own.

Fair play to Altrincham for travelling all the way from Manchester for a PSF if that is his choice.
Fair play to Elfsborg for his stand against the regime.

    All about personal choice.

Football is all about opinion, I agree.

But when it is so glaringly obvious what is happening at this club, and without any question whatsoever that squirrel face is totally inept, how people can criticise others for stating the obvious is quite worrying.

People like that probably do not give a flying f*** that we go down as long as they have enjoyed a Saturday afternoon out.

I certainly cannot see us being relegated to League1 in RD's plans.

Well I don't think I'll be asking you to predict future lottery numbers @Essex_Al
Just a small point here, previous posts need to be taken into context, with my comment. I didn't say that I didn't think we would get relegated, I was stating that IMHO relegation was not part of RD's plans and I stand by that.

I've actually stopped doing the lottery, couldn't buy a number let alone win anything!
  • The honest answer to this thread title is 'no'. From there on in, there seriously can't be too many who actively want him to stay. There are probably a lot of shoulder shrugging indifferents, who aren't too happy with the football they watch, but for who the idea of doing something about it is just a bit too much like hard work (and let's be honest, getting Roland to do one will not be easy as he owns the club and we don't) but happy? There can't honestly be too many Addicks who think the Roland era has been enjoyable. CL may not be a representative spread of fan opinion, but I imagine it's a lot more representative than Sue Parkes, a2c and Colin.

Wow, that is truly astounding. The signs were all there long before November, it's incredible to think that that many people were at least ambivalent, if not supportive, of this rotten regime back then. I wonder how many of that 40 stand by what they thought back then and how many have had a change of heart.

  • AA you need to read the thread about how many seasons those who have not renewed have between them
  • OK, People are asking me to respond to my original post, so here goes! I have renewed my season ticket and I am continuing to support Valley Gold. Last season, living in South Manchester, I missed 5 games all season, home and away.
I went to Austria to support the team, I was the only Charlton supporter, in Pinkafeld, to support the team against the Russians. In Birkfeild I was the only UK based supporter against the Israelis, although their were some enthusiastic Italian and Austrian Charlton fans, including Vienna addick and his son. I would recommend these European pre-season tours to any fan. I had a fantastic time in Vienna, visiting 3 art galleries, taking a selfie with Klimt's kiss in the Belvedere museum, and generally enjoying myself, especially hiring a car for the second game, and visiting Hundertwasser's spa village at Blumeau, a cross between Park Guell in Barcellona and Hobbiton, fantastic. The reason I'm going on about the tour is that I was amazed that I was the only one. Coventry played Sturm Graz in the same stadium in Pinkafeld, and they bought around 30 supporters. Has the poison got so deep, the anti- Duchatelier brigade so vociferous, that people couldn't be bothered to go and support the team?

My view is that many ( not all, I'm sure that there are fans who are so disillusioned with the Belgium ownership who passionately believe that not renewing their season tickets will force them out) supporters are using the Belgium takeover as an excuse for not renewing their season tickets. A drop in division, less attractive football are all good reasons. Family commitments, better things to do, are also fine. A concern about the people on Life who are very vociferous on removing the Belgiums hardly ever go and watch Charlton. I'm sure they have Charlton to their heart, and this is to be commended, but it's not the same as seeing game after game.

I have watched the development of Crofts and Foley through pre-season. I must admit that in the first two games Crofts was poor, giving the ball away, and generally looked off the pace and making poor decisions. Foley, on the other hand had decent games against the Russians in midfield, and against the Israelis at right back, and to me he looked more likely to get a contract. Having seen both players against Ipswich and the Dutch team at The Valley, Crofts has made excellent progress, and Foley did well. So what do I see on Charlton Life, several lifers referring to both players being called Twedledum and Twedeldee, people wanting to insult Charlton players. I found the whole series of comments pathetic. If Russell Slade feels they are good enough for Charlton I will give them my full support.

Arriving home in Altincham last night, I logged on and looked at the match thread, and read a comment that Russell Slade had chosen a team in protest at the transfer policy by the club. Within 10 comments it was a fact. A problem I have with CL is that a weird rumour becomes fact for many people, and they believe it. This then builds and builds until it becomes almost histerical. So what are the facts?

I've rambled on long enough, and I guess most people want to know if I am a Roland and Katrien appeaser, so they can give me dog's abuse, That will have to wait until the close of the transfer window.

    Wot, no Seb?
  • AA does the fact you were the only one in Austria not tell you something? Do you not think you are missing the point?
  • People don't protest by not going to Austria. in fact the obverse. If they felt that strongly about it, they would spend money to make the point. It's because our fan base is falling because of other off field reasons, whatever they may be, and again, I will state that I'm not criticising anyone for not going to a football game, there's lots of other stuff going on in people's lives.

Of course they wouldn't. Paying to go to Austria to protest would be nothing short of madness. How rich do you think the average fan is?
