My Joe Gomez shirt arrived in the post today. Posted to me by @GlassHalfFull (thanks dad) when he was a Charlton player 12 days ago and received today (in Australia) now he is a Liverpool player.
Look what you've done Joe, our Jack is not happy at all about this!
Well, if he bought it on-line he's got 2 days left to cancel and get a refund under the Consumer Contracts Regs! Getting the shirt back to the shop in time could be a problem though...
Edited to add: although the shop site claims you can't get a refund if a player leaves the club; neither does it mention your legal rights - which is shocking.
So all the other clubs have rubbish scouts - yes that makes sense not! Maybe we got a better deal than we are letting on! Or maybe, all the say was with the player when the clause was activated!
A tramp sleeping on a bench in Greenwich Park would have heard how good Gomez was.
Cawley has tweeted after Mandela Egbo left Norwood for Borussia Moenchengladbach - "Interesting that two talents left South London. Egbo (18 in August) is only fraction of deal that Gomez (18 last month) will move for."
He did not sign a pro deal with Palace, seems they will only get a few hundred thousand in compensation, so makes sense it is a lot less then we got for Gomez.
Hugely frustrating to see 3.5m figure being bounded about as fact. Totally incorrect.... #cafc Olly Groom
So publish the actual amount. Rumours then quashed immediately.
But the argument is other clubs will know how much we received and we will have to pay inflated prices for any incomings.
So keep it secret and accept there will be gossip.
Which I believe is what they have done!!
Apart from Olly Groom. Whoever he is.
I'm not sure that runs contrary to 'keeping it quiet to avoid inflated prices'. Olly Groom has not indicated by how much the £3.5m figure is wrong but at the same time giving a sop to those who are upset in assuming it was the correct figure.
Reasonably smart move to me - and if the reason for non-disclosure is to avoid price inflation then we are likely to find out the truth by the end of August!!
Then they are definitely going to want that kept on the down-low given the amount of hand-wringing over a mere 3.5million. But the phrasing doesn't really suggest that to me. It sounds like a higher amount that for whatever reason is being kept held back.

You can keep the "like" for having a great user name,(mistake) but i disagree. It just means we pay 200K instead of 150K, big deal. Is it 3.5M now and 3.5M in a years time ? Tell us, is it another 2 mill when he plays 30 games ? so we can tick them off. Full England cap in 4 years ? what do we get for that ?
There's people on here who normally what to know the in's and outs of a duck's arse, suddenly are'nt bothered on how much we got for the best youth player to come of CAFC in Decades ?
Still see them regularly, but not involved in the music side of things. Was around the writing of some of the new material, but was long gone by the time they headed back to the studio.
BBC Sport claim Derby are the favourites to snap-up Gomez after he sealed his move to Liverpool, which initially cost the club just £3.5million. Financial add-ons are inevitable, but Liverpool will not want Gomez to return to London. Instead a move elsewhere to stand on his own two feet for a season is tipped and the Rams is a likely destination.

Maybe we didn't get such a bad deal after all?
