I think it's more likely that Blatter banged her than Ronaldo.

    Question marks about the "resignation"

I don't think it's mentioned enough when this is described as UEFA v FIFA - Platini voted for Qatar. What possible reason could he have had for doing that? Maybe he was just convinced by the Zidane ad...

Given that story, we'd better all hope that the FBI get to him and make him an Honorary resident of The Big House!

The BBC publishing Jack Warner's distribution of his SA millions this morning seems to have him bang to rights too. Hopefully, he's enough on Sepp to bring him down properly, but I suspect he's a bluffer who's been caught out because he stupidly thought he was untouchable on T&T.

It's all becoming a bit like a CIA, FBI film where there are groups & sub groups within the organisation.

Not sure it applies to charitable organisations but i've heard some films are made to deliberately lose money as a means of tax avoidance.

They made £397 on the opening day!

I suspect you're right about their motive

Fair play. They are gonna have to lie low for a while before another "bidding" process gets going...

It's because of Fifa's rule that a new tournament cannot be on the same continent as the previous one. If Qatar is stripped of 2022 its replacement will have implications for 2026. The same could be said of Russia and 2022, of course ....

Btw, is it not a beautiful irony that in Fifa's cinematic masterpiece the Seppmeister is played by an Englishman - Tim (Lie To Me) Roth, a good old South London boy ?

Sepp Blatter could seek to stay on as Fifa’s president, according to an anonymous source quoted by the Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.

The report, quoting an unnamed source close to Blatter, comes less than two weeks after Blatter resigned as head of world football’s governing body.

The newspaper said it had information that Blatter had received messages of support from African and Asian football associations asking him to rethink his decision to step down. The source told the paper Blatter was honoured by the support and had not ruled out remaining in office. Fifa did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Blatter said on 2 June he would step down as president in the wake of an FBI-led corruption investigation, having headed the organisation since 1998. Fifa is due to pick his replacement at an emergency meeting in Zurich in December.

The newspaper also suggested that Blatter’s renewed interest in the job was another reason for the departure of Walter de Gregorio as Fifa’s director of communications, since he had argued for a new start and advised Blatter to go. De Gregorio declined to comment.

This would tear the game apart but I would think it is likely. Blatter always puts himself above the game and really lacks self awareness - he will find a justification, but it won't be accepted by Europe and South America.

I believe he has only ever worried about himself, and will get backing from all of the continents who voted for him in the recent vote

But we still wait to see why he stood down ...that is what may ...hopefully ... finish him off

Blatter can't stay, its gone way too far for that now.

Once they gave the World Cup to Qatar it was all over, the Yanks have serious concerns about Qatari funding of terrorism and there was no way they would let Blatter get away with that.

Everyone knows its pay-to-play but Qatar was taking the absolute piss.

From the BBC website today (and various other sources):

Sepp Blatter has appeared in public for the first time since his resignation, at a little party for those working on the new Fifa museum due to open next year.

The Fifa president fuelled speculation that he wants to continue in office by saying that, "I did not resign, I put myself and my office in the hands of the FIFA congress".

He also joked that he was not ready "to be in a museum" himself nor to be a waxwork.

And, for my part, just to be clear, I did not get drunk last night, I put myself on the outside of several pints of beer.
