  • Swear from some of the bollocks I've read on the internet about his return that some people would concede to losing on Saturday if they were guaranteed a selfie and a backslap from Chris Powell.

I think a back slap would be the least they'd hope for

Applauding Powell during the game ... hero worship gone too far, Pre match he deserves applause, but during the game he is the opposition manager. He won't get pelters during the match but he should not get applause.

He deserves exactly what Curbs got a - big defeat and I am hoping for.

If Curbs reads this mate he won't be happy you two timing him  .
Nor would he be happy with my poor original diction - well praps he won't.
Actually I misquoted there oops! Note to self 'don't be so trigger happy'. It was meant for @oohaahmortimer but if you felt the cap fitted

The first England /Charlton international in my lifetime a huge part of our Premiership success a true gent
no matter what your opinion of him as a manager the above makes him a true Charlton Legend as far as I am concerned
and i will be a bit emotional on Saturday for the return of a class act who i'd love to be in our dugout but times change and managers move on but my memories produced by him will be in my heart forever
    I love you SCP

Should I work on the principal that you are a grown adult with a life beyond your undoubtedly well worn seat at The Valley ?
I have no life except for stalking SCP threads and being a complete bell when i see his name
    I love you SCP

    seriously?
  • It is a bit weird though, feeling emotional cos our ex football manager is back. Something I'd expect from a teenage girl

But OOhaah, does that extend to applauding him DURING the game or even wanting him to win?

    Exactly

  • A brief show of acknowledgement of powells connection and achievements with the club before the game.

Nothing more nothing less. Don't kid yourselves here.

He's a charlton legend but this is football.

  • I love him as well. If I saw out the window him walking down my road I'd quickly run out and put a coat over a puddle for him.

Would you put your Stella down first?

Would it cover a large puddle though boss?

Yes but not if the only reason he was there that day was to rob your house/try it on with your missus surely not?! ;-)

Nothing wrong with a bit of emotion! Its what makes football so great!
  • What price Chris Powell swinging on crossbar at Jimmy Seed end ?
What price Guy Luzon doing Tunnel Jump ?
What price CAFC fans start slapping each other over this ?
  • I'm with oohaah. A couple of years ago, I saw Chrissy on Sidcup High Street.
I let out, a really loud, involuntary Chrissy Powell. He laughed, shook my hand and carried on, on his way.
    I too love Chrissy Powell.

Tbh I think if Arsenal fans sore Thiery Henry walking down the street they would do the same! Why shouldn't we do that to our heroes?
Football is football but sometimes we should not be blinded by competitiveness and learn to have a good time and show appreciation too. What was it we used to say? Charlton's more than just a club.
  • I'll give him a cheer. He was a great player for us. Not such a good manager.
If we win do you think he will do the tunnel jump for old times sake.

He is manager of Huddresfield end of story ......

When we've stopped cheering Chrissy, I know he's injured but will you join with me in starting up a 'Johhny Jackson runs down the wing for me' rendition Col?...................I'll take that as a NO as well then.
