We keep saying how good we were in the first half and so poor in the second, could it be that Rotherham were poor in the first half and stepped up their game in the second, we are not world beaters YET

You couldn't be more wrong about the first half.

In what respect, as I did not see the game just following texts
Other than the first 6-7 mins we were in control. Dominated after the goal. Totally outplayed Rotherham for a 15 min spell and had we scored again would have won at a canter.

I said we were good in the first half, is that not what you are saying as well

No you didn't. You suggested that the only reason we were on top was because Rotherham were crap. I'm telling you you are wrong.

Sorry Clem, misunderstanding, for a team to be very good the other team must be inferior, all I was saying is perhaps they were playing below their standard, and we were making the most of it by playing well, and in the second half they played better, which meant we did not do as well. No need for disagreeing, we are both agreeing in different ways

Agree with most of what has been said.

BP and his staff have clearly worked on defensive organisation and retaining possession as a team, as his first priority. Its a different way of playing to what we are used to and it will need some patience. I'm not a lover of tippy tippy football, but I'm happy to see the team re-constructed from the back, allied to a continental style of play and progress from here,on the back of an eight game unbeaten run.

The problem today was no hold-up play up front. we had to work our way up the pitch along the flanks to get into the last third which meant playing a lot of passes to get across the halfway line and risking losing the ball in our half, as happened on the Rotherham goal. BP will need to find a balance and get the front two running into the channels to stretch the opposition defence a bit more, to give us an outlet ball. Moussa and Vetokele played within the width of the box and were second to the ball too often.

Great start to the season. Long live Rope-a-dope football.

Don't think we were negative you won't see many away teams attack like we did on the first half .. We were so on top and it was only a matter of time before we got a 2 or even a 3rd

Half time changed the game ... Gave Rotherham a chance to make changes and gave Steve Evans a chance to get into his players ...second half was like a diff game the good thing from our point of view was even through we conceded with 20 mins to go we got the point .

We are and it's clear 3 players short of becoming a very good side but how far we have cone in a short time as been fantastic and we are still unbeaten .....

Sure what Peeters says to the press and what he says to Kat and RD are very diff but who can we get if we are not going to pay silly wages that will make a diff and better then we have ??

Keep going guys we have a free week now to get all our minor knocks cleared up

Sitting back when we have a lead is a mistake which many teams make but we need 2 more players. One who will keep possession better and push up and one that will provide more back up to igor. Also sound like we need to get our fitness up. But to be unbeaten almost to October is no mean feet.

All positive for me. Poyet will come back on loan and winning positions will be nailed down. Unbeaten , could be better, could be a lot worse.

Just had a look at the table because for one min reading some posts I throught we were all supporting Blackpool or Huddresfield we are 7 th unbeaten and we have only just started the first stage of our rebuilding ......
Remember this time last year .. When we were playing Gower and Hughes in central mid .....look how far we have cone in a short time !!

Very good point that. Thanks Colin.

Interesting comments from those at the game. It seems like we are now establishing ourselves in the Championship and expectations are high ,but it is still early days and positive feelings are there to be nurtured and not to be over critical .
The three home games I have seen have been grand to watch and I look forward to The Valley becoming a fortress once again in the future.

Only trouble is, that if the FA bring in the new rules about non-EU players not coming to other than premier clubs, RD idea about African's joining us via his other clubs (if the rumours are true), will be a non-starter

So what happens when a Premier League team with say half a dozen African players get relegated ? Do they get a certain amount of time to get rid ? Not really feasible in my opinion. There are also plenty of Africans with French and Belgian passports. No way of excluding them.

Have players like Vetokele and Bulot got Belgium passports or African? It only says you will not be able to bring in players, so assuming if you have already signed them in the premier, they will be OK

Have just seen their goal, they had 2 players unmarked on post, who should have been marking them? You don't get a complete picture on highlights, anyone there explain how it happened

They made a fast start and spent time in and around our box without really troubling us. We then began to impose ourselves, sticking to our passing principles, and the excellent JBG got the fine goal his skillful running with the ball deserved. We then saw out the half comfortably without looking particularly dangerous ourselves.

After ht, another blazing start by Rotherham but this time we just never got to grips with it. Without being too disparaging their game was built almost entirely on energy and tempo, but they were never overly aggressive / dirty. We just collectively failed to come to terms with their hunger, and once they smelt blood they went for the kill, and could well have beaten us with a bit more quality. That they didn't speaks volumes for how hard we clearly are to beat, but without a more physical No.9 figure (broken record time) or a rethink to tactics up front, the ball is going to just keep coming back, and we all know we won't always be able to ride it out.

Aided in part by the introduction of Bulot we at least regained a modicum of attacking impetus towards the end, but Igor was knackered again by then and poor Callum's contributions just didn't threaten. Again, without someone to share the physical burden up there, we're in danger of nullifying the genuine threat that Igor at last gives us.

So, still unbeaten despite more heavy pressure - we know how to protect our goal. Really enjoyed Rotherham; new stadium not quite as dull as eg Doncaster, and Millmoor is still just about intact (I managed to wander around the entire remains with just a flock of pigeons for company - very eerie).

Ben Haim gave the ball away and caused chaos.

We are discussing about today's game not what as occurred this season so far.

Their goal appeared to be created by negative forward play and constantly playing the ball deeper when in forward positions. When we got at them we created excellent opportunities and good pressure, but we gave possession away far too easily and allowed them to hold the ball without really showing any urgency to get it back. This created wave after wave of attacks which did not seem warranted from an average side at best. Definitely feels like another 2 points dropped. We have a soft underbelly and teams don't have to be that good to expose it. I think Bob will be getting a bit pissed off with drawing games we could / should win. It won't be long before we are losing games we could have drawn. Maybe the team aren't really as good as our position. Another 8 games should be a better indicator of where the season i going.

Yeah we have played last seasons play off teams but we have also played the three promoted teams and not beaten any of them.

Draw specialists but would rather win one lose one than draw two.

Hopefully bob is seeing what is going wrong and can address it.

    Just got back.

Pretty even up to our goal, then once we had scored, up until half time I thought we were excellent and should have increased our lead. I thought at half time we would win easily.

Totally different story after the break, they closed us down high up the pitch and dominated, we could have easily lost. Draw just about a fair result!

Every point is a good point and we're still unbeaten

BUT it's deflating to have lost the lead in over half of the games in which we've taken the lead. Eight points dropped against Brentford, Brighton, Wolves and now Rotherham is not good enough if we have aspirations of staying with the pace setters.

Possibly an unusually harsh reaction from me here but it is incredibly frustrating to see the same patterns repeating themselves. This is where Peeters and his squad will earn their stripes and prove that they can hold on to leads with regularity.
