At the end of the day, what we must not forget that it was not Delort who did not want to come to us, but the Tours owner/chairman, (whatever), said he would not be released until the last day of the transfer window (making sure he got the best bid in). RD set his price but Wigan was willing to pay more, so the Tours bloke agreed to sell him to them. Delort could have said no, but would still be with Tours. If he does come to us, I hope supporters give him a chance, and I hope he is worth all the fuss
I thought he used us to get the best deal, not unreasonable but still leaves a nasty taste
Isn't there a rule about loan signings that you can't play for more than two clubs in a season? Delort played two games for Tours before signing for Wigan
Delort can be loaned or transferred one more time.
Currently under the FIFA Transfer Regulations a football player is unable to play for more than three teams in one season. This applies whether the player has been transferred or simply is on loan with that club.
This also applies regardless of what country that player has plied his trade in, whether that is in Europe, Africa or South America. As long as a player has represented a club in a league under the adjudication of a FIFA Member Association they will only be able to play for three different clubs.
However, this does mean that a football player is free to represent a total of three different clubs in any league in the world over the course of one season.
I think that's right. But I'm waiting for someone to follow the lead of the most famous Belgium ever - Jean-Marc Bosman. Surely there can be no doubt that this particular piece of FIFA nonsense is in clear breach of EU legislation?
Don't want him within a mile of our club frankly. If he'd really wanted to join us he'd have done so before plus he's proved at Wigan he's nothing special.
9 appearances yes but he's only actually played 390 minutes and only had 2 full 90 minutes. Admittedly it does look like we dodged a bullet but i don't see what harm getting a striker in on loan that 5 months ago we were reportedly prepared to pay 2.5m for. It could just be that he's not settled in Wigan and let's be honest it's hardly the most glamorous place in the world. I'd be perfectly happy to get him in and see what he can do. He might prove to be total shit, but there's nothing to lose really, we just send him back.

I'm thinking this Delort story is fabrication anyway.
Cannot see us having Watt, Delort and Tucudean all on our books. They appear to be of the same ilk, big target men, so reckon we are only going to have Watt with us, as shown with the Twitter photo. Perhaps we can save another 1000 messages now, this is the last I am going to say on the subject anyway.

Signing Delort on loan for free just 4 months after trying to sign him for 2.5million, with him not being tied down to a 3/4 year deal just in case he is shite? Sounds like good business to me....

Stick a future fee clause in the loan incase he does turn out to be good and it'd be even better business. Let's wait and see.

Big lumps then..............that do not score many goals.

My Celtic mates tell me that Watt is neither of those descriptions as we Brits mean it because he is too thin. Or at least he was when he left Celtic. Tucudean isn't either, despite being relatively tall. It's clearly not his game. As for Delort I have no idea but French teams tend not to play that way, and he seems to have been the main goalscorer at Tours so I assume he's a Vetokele - Reza type fast front man who likes the ball in front of him.
The main reason why we should not have Delort on our books is the evidence that he cannot hack it anywhere other than at a French Ligue 2 club.

Watt is just over 6ft. Delort is just under. George is only 6'1. Pretty sure that doesn't qualify them as big lumps. Delort hasn't had a great time in Wigan but he scored a hell of a lot of goals for Tours. Would your life not be less stressful if you actually looked into the players mentioned rather than just writing them off?
And anyway, weren't you suggesting we sign Zigic recently? I'm pretty sure if you look up 'big lump who doesn't score many goals' there's a picture of him. It's right next to the one of Heskey.

Based on 380 minutes of football in a struggling team when he's attempting to acclimatise to a new country and league? He could be awful but I think it'd be worth a go if we have nothing better up our sleeves. I don't think he's been given enough of a chance and am not completely satisfied that he's a complete dud just yet.

We're crying out for Yann Kermorgant and we would be top ;-)
I have just found an interview with Delort that's just a couple of days old. My French is too rusty to translate directly, but this passage is relevant. He says he cannot go to France on loan, but I am not sure about the sentence at the beginning of the second paragraph. "Prete" (sorry no accents on this keyboard) Maybe somebody with better French and an understanding of the rules can take a look. But nowhere in this article does he discuss a loan anywhere, and certainly not to us. Nor does he mention any other club than Wigan in terms of the transfer. He says his personal choice was to stay in France another season, but with a Ligue 1 club, and to prove himself good enough for an FAPL club. Blatant stepping stone approach but probably not uncommon in truth. There is no evidence that he turned us down. There is no evidence that he even had that option. It was all about the Tours chairman, and what he wanted.
My only priority is to play . Many people do not seem to have understood yet, but I can not go back to France this winter , as I played with Tours in early season and Wigan . So I can not make more than three clubs with two movements abroad.
For simplicity, I can not be paid in England or French club can buy me for the end of season, but not now. The only possibility for me to come back in France is that I resign with Wigan .

It's combining my two most over subscribed threads. This one, and the Yann debate.
Why do we have to help him acclimatise here after he snubbed us. This would be good business for us if we get a nailed on option to buy at the original 2.5 million Price if we reform him. Otherwise, we'll be taking on another misfit like Watt, knowing we'll be paying his wages after he snubbed us for Wigan, will waste our time if he can't be bothered, and that Wigan will reap the benefits if we do get him sorted for life in the Championship. Why do we have to keep going back to our ex's (Delort, Reza, Astrid?). Even Polish Pete has had a mention recently. Are there no new players we could waste our time posting about?

I don't mean to pick on you, Ross, but this bollocks has been going on for months.
What evidence do you have that RD made an offer? Anything, other than what you may have read on here?
I don't believe we ever made an offer, for reasons we discussed ad nauseam back in the summer. And I don't believe he is coming here now. I hope not. Because if he does, it means that our so called European scouting network can only come up with two ideas for a striker. One an existing flop with another network club, and the other a player who appears to have been offered to at least 16 clubs before finally pulling a mug buyer, where he duly flopped.
I hope and believe that the network really is better than that.
Feel free to have your opinion, I do not feel you are picking on me, just your opinion. I personally have no evidence but reading here and elsewhere it was recorded we had put in a bid and details were agreed with the player until the owner stepped in. If this is a load of B******s then, like others, I can only read what is put before us.
