Basically, it says that he is rumoured to be joining us on loan, so nothing new or concrete and doesn't appear to qualify the rumours by citing a source. Looks like hearsay.
Rumour-hearsay-possibly.
I tend to switch off when I see those words, particularly on fans forums!
not saying it is in this case, but could easily be someone who saw it on CL.
Best case scenario - he is good (and so increases in value (for Wigan))
Well surely there's also a benefit to us if he is good ?
Either way, from the articles that have been posted here and what I can infer from the Three Amigo's article (which to be fair is basically what is posted here regurgitated) Delort wants to go back to France unless he can get a move to the Premier League (lol) so not only would you have to question his ability if he came here but also his commitment.

Best case - he scores lots of goals for Charlton. Worst case - he continues to be useless... which would be a vast improvement on some of the finishing recently.
I'm just not sure if loaning in a player, improving his confidence and match fitness and sending him back to his parent club in the same division is very Roland from what we've seen so far. If he bangs in the goals for us I doubt Wigan will let us have him for a reasonable amount.

Which is why you add a future fee in now before this happens

You mean players loaned to other teams in the same division, with time left on their contract and who are playing well at their loan club aren't just alowed to leave for free ?

Unless they're called Michael Morrison that is ............

I think you mean in case this happens! Looking at his record 4 starts 5 subs not a single goal he ain't going to bang in many!

Jesus Christ. How many times do you have to be told that it isn't football manager.. Future fee hahaha

Funny you should say that...I was just listening to a podcast which mentioned this transfer -
Felipe Caicedo went on loan from City to Levante and they had one of these "future fee" options - if Levante wanted Caicedo at the end of the deal he would cost £800k. Caicedo was a massive success so Levante took up the option at the end of the deal, bought him for £800k and sold him a few days later for £10m to a Russian side !
he didn't want to come here in the summer .. went for the 'big time' move to Wigan where he has been a total flop .. why do we now want him ? .. my opinion ? .. f*** him .. or more politely, don't touch him with a 20ft bargepole

To be fair I don't think it was a case of him not wanting to come here, Tours simply wanted a completely ridiculous transfer fee which we wouldn't/couldn't meet - and that has been proven to be the right call.
If he came here on loan, with no fee and our salary contributions weren't so great that it prohibited us from getting someone else in too (i.e. we don't put all our eggs in the Delort basket) then I'd be happy - I doubt those conditions can be satisfied though.
Shit. I'm getting confused. What do we go with now.
Before Wigan signed him we were wetting our pants with his beautiful masterpiece of a you tube video. A few months at Wigan and he becomes the bullet we managed to dodge.
Personally I think we should go with 'he hasn't settled up north and he will feel more at home in London'
Said it at the time & said it since, in the youtube video the goalies were so poor they made Thuram look world class. A decent goalie would have saved most of them. He is definately the bullet that we dodged.

Would guess that is the same situation as Milan buying Torres and loaning him straight to Atletico.
So the only names that have come up so far are strikers who have totally failed at their current clubs, very encouraging. We may as well keep the money and carry on playing our own failed strikers.

Its not unreasonable to think that Watt and De Lort have not settled into their new environment and they could still prove their worth somewhere else.

So worst case scenario means we haven't lost out on anything.
Best case - he scores goals, loves it here, wants to live in London and tells Wigan he doesn't want to return to them
That is money that could go elsewhere so there is likely to cost us something.
So it will most likely cost us wages as well as the opportunity cost of not being able to bring in A N Otheriski instead.
I actually think he'll do well for us given time but I also think it won't happen.
