His scoring record for AZ Alkmaar suggests he may get four goals next season if he plays all the time. He looks like competition wide left, maybe wide right, I would be interested to know if he can provide a telling pass or cross.

There's the crux of the matter. However exciting this lad is or isn't, imho, until we have this part of the jigsaw in place there will be fundamental flaw in our attacking setup.
I've never seen this boy or Moussa play so maybe they are/can be that player, I don't know, but if they can't then we still need another player in midfield... and a target man, at least as an option.
Maybe in open play, we'll be playing ball to feet in a crisp and incisive passing game (I'm hoping ....!), but there will be times that we'll still need an able frontman capable of playing with his back to goal and physically strong enough to withstand an opponent climbing all over him.
Plus, he'll need to have sufficient height to challenge in the air from crosses and set pieces - and often overlooked, to mark their lumbering centreback when defending our own box.
Looks like a very good signing, although possibly more in competition with Callum wide left than the right-sider we need? Anyway, welcome Johann, I really hope you have a great and successful 2 years (and hopefully more) at CAFC.
Starting to get a tingling about the new season with this signing. Only got the clip to go on but Johann looks tidy so we'll have to wait and see but Bob seems to be assembling a team that could potentially surprise a few people. Time will tell but I know I wasn't feeling like I am this time last year.
I think the goals scored at the top of his Wikipedia page is wrong. At the bottom his goal scoring record is 34 goals from 198 games. That's a goal every 5.8 games so maybe 7 a season if he keeps it up. Also his record improves with each year with AZ so it could get better.
I'm slightly confused but over the moon about our latest acquisition. I am wondering how & why he has signed for us? If he is as good as everyone is saying, a valuable member of his country's team for christ's sake! Did no one else fancy him? Did no one else know he was out of contract? Why just why?? Sorry but I'm not used to us getting real quality players anymore! (Not for a while anyway!) COYR..........

Don't be so logical and level-headed. I am enjoying the ride !

I think credit where credit's due.
Whoever is speaking to these players, whether it's RD, KM or Big Bob, is doing a good job of selling their vision of the club.
It's very clear that with Buyens, Vetokele and now this guy, there is a vision...£5-6m of talent just landed... Looking forward to tomorrow and Brentford away. Perhaps those players who left us over the last 6 months are thinking wtf?!
When I heard there was to be a signing today I was extremely excited but then when it turned out to be TBH I was disappointed not saying he's not a good addition to the squad and another piece of the jigsaw in place, but because it's hard to get excited over a centre back and one who's gonna be a back up at best.. However this new cheered me up immensely!

Get the Charlton physios on him and he'll be out for months...
Well if your that upset Arron your more than welcome at the Valley too... 37 Appearances and 20 Goals (Sadly would never happen)

I hope it was.
Christ, they even have earthquakes and erupting volcanoes there, which is a bit more exciting than Rotherham.
