  • This is a 'if only' .. we had got Glenn Murray on loan .. tailor made for a partnership with the V man

Salvaged a point for Reading today with an 89th minute equaliser.

indeed he did FF .. and always looked a threat to what is (usually) a decent wolves defence ..anyway, with us he aint ((:<) ... ((:>)
  • In the Sun today that O Grady doesn't figure in Hyypias plans at Brighton and they will sell him for £250,000

Will we try and get him on loan with a view to a Jan signing?

That was going wide until it hit the Wolves defender's head

    Hope not.

  • He'll probably want to stay up north with Brighton.
  • Better than 1 in 4 goals since 2011 in the Chamionship. In fact close to 1 in 3.

    Looks like he is available.

    Not expensive.

    Why not?
  • A player BP said he wanted. Yes

The type of player we need. Yes

The type of player we can afford?

  • Perhaps we could fund this purchase plus maybe another two or three on top by selling Polish Pete for what we paid for him ;-(

  • I could see us loaning him with an option to buy in January. We need a target man to help the ball stick up front. It happened once on Saturday and we created our best chance from it
  • I'd be surprised if we took him now. I don't get the impression that RD is the sort of bloke that would take him after he 'turned us down' the first time.

I think O'Grady has got himself in a tough spot. I doubt that there will be many clubs keen to pay him what he's earning and I suspect he will not want want to spend the rest of his career in the reserves at Brighton - especially if he is not very happy down South.

The situation reminds me of Andy Gray.
  • He got what he deserved, a stay in the North with Brighton and a fat pay cheque. I hope we don't touch him with a barge pole.
  • We are crying out for a big target man. But I'll be gutted if we do sign this guy and no one else. Why would we want to sign him when he supposedly wants too much money and has rejected us previously? No thanks RD look elsewhere please
  • I would still have him in our squad if possible, always impressed me as a player, as every time i watched him he seemed to hold the ball up well and be a right nuisance to the opposition.
  • There are other forums that are willing to take your logic Braziliance.

We prefer to deal in the fickle down here............... ;-)
  • When we were trying to sign him we hardly looked a good prospect to a guy who had just been relegated with his current team, did we?

I do not hold his decision against him, and if Bob was happy, I would be happy to welcome him.

  • I think we've moved on as a club since the summer. Bringing him in on loan is going to push Tucudean down the pecking order. As for permanent signings, I'd hope we'd be aiming a lot lot higher. We were just one goal away from bouncing back into the top six so I would suggest we need top six quality players to get there this season or next.
Katrien Meire recently stated they looked at 25 players over the summer. Ten joined and we know about this fella and Delort. I wonder who they are still looking at and who will be added to that list ready for a January deal?

I think the result and performance against Birmingham might influence their thinking? I remember the horror show from last February and an improvement on that will be most welcome. If we don't secure three points then perhaps they should look at someone else to bolster our attacking options... But if this fella isn't good enough for Brighton then is he good enough for us?

  • One + ... Delort isn't pulling up too many trees at Wigan ((:>) .. so be careful what you/we wish for
  • 1. I doubt COG is that bothered. He is on a last pay day. Worst case he does a deal with Brighton to go out on loan whilst they pay part of his wages. Brighton will not just leave him in the reserves as they are trying to meet FFP so will have to come to some kind of agreement with him to reduce their outlay.

    2. Of course RD would go back in for him if he is still wanted. He is a businessman and will think like one rather than getting emotionally involved. If COG is now available for one third of his previous fee and half his previous wages and BP still wants him RD is unlikely to pass up.

    3. I think we can and will do better.
  • Agree with 1 and 2.

So far we haven't done better but we'll see. Delort was meant to be better and more expensive but a lot saying he's been poor at Wigan.

Sometimes a "lesser" player is better for a team than a "star".

  • Chris O'Grady wanted back by Barnsley after not scoring in 7 games for Brighton and rumoured to be unsettled. Looks like we missed another good one there.
  • Maybe our luck has changed

It appears RD got I'll advised on Polish Pete, dodged bullets on Delort and O'Grady but hit the jackpot with Igor (thanks to Bob) and the jury is still out on George. Hmmm, only a one in five success rate thus far. It is crucial that the next forward signing reverses this trend.

    He's been scoring

Yes but what's he been doing on the pitch?

So the one case where he actually listened to his 'Head Coach' then.

On the face of it but of course we don't know what input Bob had with the O'Grady or Delort bids, he must have had some I would have thought. George appears to be a shuffle around the Network job to see if he fits the bill and Bob has gone along with it but apart from his decent game deciding spell against Derby, 60 minute appearances tell their own story.
