  • Well played to him though, did it in the right way
  • Fair play to him. Not all about money and family happiness should feature large in any decision making.

Nice sentiment shooters but you have been completely deceived, just as COG intended.

More money and he would be here IMO

Glad we played hardball and found him out.

Its not what they do, its the way they do it. I always question the type of character that tries to cover up his true intentions by telling ..yeah Kermit, thats for you baby.
I don't see anything wrong in saying "for X amount of money I won't uproot my family, but for more than that I will." I'm not aware of your family situation, but would the same possibly be true for you?
  • He stays at Barnsley for another year and goes on a bosman. Nice signing on fee. Stays in the area. Cash in the bank. Happy days. Rather than slugging it out with church for starting berth at Charlton.
Better off getting someone like amoebi.
  • I don't think he has shown loyalty, but don't wish him anything but the best with Barnsley next season - I hope they get back up. I don't think he was what we needed and by the look of it, nor does anybody else. He will be a good player in League One.
  • Or heskey
  • Sorry I was wetting myself as I was writing that.

I didnt say there was anything wrong with it...was more commenting on how it was perceived by SHG.

yes indeedy, I would have done the same.

bu you never know what amount of money will make you happy all you know is that is MORE

scoring goals (or whatever most of us actually have to do in real life to earn a living) and making a positive impact is always going to put a smile on your face

  • Can't say I am a little bit surprised. Be surprised if and when we sign one experienced Championship player, we'll look elsewhere for cheaper and easier options.

Cheap and easy? Like the highly rated, £2million+ Vetokele cheap?

    We'll = we will = future tense.

Touche. Nonetheless from what Prague's source has said the fact that we got Buyens 'cheaply and easily' is something to thank the network effect for, he wouldn't come cheap otherwise. Vetokele clearly cost a fair wedge even if the exact sum is up for debate too, and O'Grady was clearly looking for some pretty high wages by his own (implicit) admission. I really can't see any reason we shouldn't assume this is the calibre of player we will be looking at further down the line too. The only real gamble is Ansah but when CP did his big squad revamp in League One he was taking chances as well- Pritchard and Cook for example.

We probably will be looking at cheaper options now we've reportedly spent £2m on Igor. No Championship team can throw much more around and break even. Yet to see a shred of reputable evidence outside of Twitter that we spent that though so we'll have to see

I seem to recall that people on the Belgian end were reporting fees of around that much, I could be wrong though. Even so, I still think there we may well end up spending maybe even 4-5million over this window and January if our position is strong. Prague's source seems to suggest the view in Belgium is RD is now focusing on Charlton.

Cook was signed in 2012, after we'd been promoted.
  • That's right, Airman.

Jordan Cook impressed playing for Carlisle in the game in which we clinched promotion.

He was signed in the early summer from his parent club, Sunderland.

  • Although, there was Lee Cook - signed on loan and played many of the last few games in the promotion winning side.

That's an odd one. Whilst I won't doubt that his presence definitely added something, he was absolutely useless. I think because we were crying out for something to drag us out of the sh:te we were in. His arrival coincided with a (slight) upturn in fortunes, so we immediately attributed that to him. In hindsight, I'm not so sure.

IH spoke to him at the end of the season about a 1 year deal, and SM said (...and I quote) "I'm going to hold out for an offer from the Premier League"....

    Oh how we laughed!

You're more likely to find Maierhofer working in TBR Manzes than you are in the Premier League.

Thats a completely different story to what people were saying whilst he was playing for you.
  • although disappointed I'd rather he made this decision than come for the money, be homesick, regret it and not perform. Fair play to him.

exactly, another Andy Gray/Dale Stephens scenerio (although look where Stephens ended up)
  • I reckon he's coming to SE7

    Correct.

Wasn't very correct was it ? And you seem to question my source a fair bit

I refer the honourable gentleman back to my first paragraph.

No doubt there were quite a few that were singing his praises. You couldn't deny that he gave defenders something to think about at 9ft tall. But when the dust settled and we were safe, we can look back and safely say that he was, at best, mediocre. If there's a Millwall fan that still wants IH to offer him a deal, I'll be surprised.
  • What's happened to Dale Stephens there?
  • What's happened to Dale Stephens there?

Been injured since the end of last season.
  • This is a 'if only' .. we had got Glenn Murray on loan .. tailor made for a partnership with the V man
