At the end of the day we to make sure we comply with FFP break-even requirements, Bob is probaly fairly cheap there are some good reports coming out from Belgium regarding his coaching skills so until i actually see the team perform he has my 100% support.

Yann take no notice this is Charlton, 25% of our support are muppets anyway :-/

To be fair to Yann897, it may have been a joke but the poor blokes been getting it from every angle, so no wonder he's on the defensive.

Although in this case, like most posters, I disagree with him and am finding it hard to find positives in this decision. Doesn't mean I won't back him 100% come the first day of the season.

I'm not overly positive mate I'm just gonna give the bloke a chance see what players we bring in, how he gets on in pre season and who knows , it's a massive gamble that could go either way.
Which is the same as I see it.
Me too. But it's fine to be a little sceptical and post why you are sceptical without being called a doom monger.

Mick, i think you just have to accept that every coach in Belgium is intelligent, up and coming and good with young players.

    Those are the rules.

Trust me they are not :p

But Peeters is. That is probably the reason RD wanted him.
i really think Bob Peeters can do very well for you. i sure hope he will. But i could be wrong ofcourse, it's way too unpredictable.

I think some of you overvalue "experience" way too much. Experience would mean every team would be looking for a coach who has been a coach for 15-20 years with preferably 10 years experience in the league your in.

Not saying experience counts for nothing, but I've seen plenty of "experienced" coaches have really bad seasons in various lagues all over europe.

Quick question , is it the same posters moaning about Peeters as the ones that we're moaning about Riga ???

    No

33% moaned about BP and JR

10% moaned about BP, JR and CP

    27% moaned about just JR

3% moaned about BP but no one else.

16% moaned about CP and no one else

110% moaned about Yann897 always looking for someone to moan about
    Oh the irony coming from
    All people !
It was a question that's all don't know why people have to get up tight about it, I just thought people may have learned not to judge a manager until we see what happens .
    IT.WAS.A.JOKE. Lighten up
Very funny seems to be quite a few jokes at my expense .
Just let it go over your head pal. Sometimes people like a wind-up, myself included, so as long as you don't take it personal or its doesn't get too personal, then just laugh it off.

I agree with what you are saying, and its seems like we have the same outlook on the situation, but its a Charlton forum and its a place where people can go to express their emotions with other Charlton fans.

Sometimes it goes over the top, and its negative as well as positive. I find Micks obsession with our belgian posters and Viewfinders view on the academy really strange, but you just gotta let people get on with it.
Cheers mate and I know I won't change people's mind about Peeters or any other matters I was just wondering if it was the same people writing him off as they wrote off Riga and if so why not learn to just see what happens.
And @O-Randy-Hunt‌ I'm sceptical aswell and I'm not calling anyone anything. I just think a lot of people have wrote him off and our season before the last one has finished .

@NewsShopperSprt: If you are expecting a new #cafc manager to be appointed today then you will have to wait a bit longer. It will be next week at the earliest

@NewsShopperSprt: @OwenG1 All the signs are it will be Peeters but then as someone else pointed out to me earlier 'nothing would surprise me anymore .....'

Indeed. 25% is probably the correct figure for CAFC fans who have just voted for a party whose policies would render RD's entire project impractical.

I suspect that at the moment a lot of supporters are feeling as ambivalent as I am right now.

Identifying with the Charlton of the recent past, spirited, together, cemented into the English football culture, led by a club hero Chris Powell, youngsters coming through...all of that was very easy to buy into. However we are compelled to move on from that. I think I have been able to move on a fair bit, after all nostalgia's not what it was.

I have come to terms with the loss of the 'old style' stuff because...well because there is no choice actually. However I have not come to terms with it because as yet there is something lovely to buy into now. That still remains to be seen big time.

Personally I don't believe that permanently appointing the very estimable Jose Riga was anything like the obvious thing to do, and his departure feels like the end of a nice but limited holiday romance before returning back to reality.

I view the (likely? impending?) arrival of Bob Peeters as an:
'oh, oh well, oh OK, lets see what happens' then shrug vacantly kind of appointment. He is as much a stranger to me as Jose Riga was. I think it matters very little if he is or isn't a cheap option, or if he is or isn't a yes man. If it turns out to be somebody else I would feel the same about them (unless it was Pardew of course!). The next man will very simply have to deliver goals and results.

I have a sense of ambivalence as I have said, actually not quite that, what is grabbing my attention is the phenomena of events I can grasp and understand. Things like seeing the work on the pitch, seeing how Gomez and Cousins are doing, looking at actual confirmed ins and outs, waiting to watch Reza bestride the World stage, anticipating the fixture list, waiting for the lorries to trundle down Sparrows Lane; I am very interested, but somehow feel a sense of detachment and estrangement at the same time.

Maybe it is close season blues, but at the moment although I want to feel a sense of excitement and anticipation my feeling is more of an observer of events, whereas before the events at the club felt very personal. The money has left my account for the season tickets for next season so of course I will be there, but I want the football club to court me, grab me, hold me close and give me reasons, because at the moment all I feel is, well, ambivalent.
