I hope Poyet isn't going to be the next Scott Parker rumour. Every time Parker came available after his move to Chelsea there was the "would we have him back?" Debate. The answer is a simple no. Parker was 10 times the player Poyet is when he left us and that would've been the only reason I could see for us getting him back when we were in the prem. Poyet will drudge around their reserves for a bit before moving on to a low end prem/high end championship side. By that time Gomez and cousins will be with us in the prem.. I hope.
Bring him back for the season and then stick him in the reserves and let him come on at half time and do some ball juggling entertainment or something.
We now have a Europa League player in the team doing the job Poyet would be doing as a relatively inexperienced youngster.
In some cases it can be good to keep the ball ticking over in the middle of the pitch but with both in the team, I'd wonder where the goal threat that someone like Jackson gives us would come from.
Am i the only person who thought that by going to one of the poorer prem teams he would be playing every week. Diego must of assumed this, or why not go to a higher rated prem team and bide your time.
Was it just internal politics why Poyet only got involved with the first team after Dale went to Brighton.?
Would it not effect the dynamics of the group if he came back now.
Good to hear that Katrien say they tried to sign him with the proviso that Cafc would not stand in his way if a good offer from a prem team came in. Meaning, we would get two million or so instead of a development fee.
Being MOM in your first two league matches, this is when they should have got him signed up. even if they had to put him on a par with the top earners at the club(still not that much)
If Poyet and those around him knew anything about Allardyce and WH then he would have known it would be extremely unlikely he would be playing regularly.
Allardyce is a dull, safe manager who hates taking any visible risks and that to him includes playing youngsters. He would much rather play someone out of position (and he regularly does) than play a youngster.
Maybe it's just me and I'm letting pride get in the way but I don't want Diego anywhere near the club. He made his choice to leave resulting in us getting very little compensation in the grand scheme of things after investing in him and his future the past 8 or so years he was here. It's not free to keep the academies going and clubs rely on a player or two to "make it" so that money made can be reinvested for the next couple of years.
Just thought he could've signed a contract just so we'd get a fair fee for his services after the faith the club put in his and to pay back the fans. Perhaps he would've gone to a club that actually wanted him and would've played him rather than one more taking a gamble on his potential. Now he'd want to come back for first team football and potentially push back a youngster of our own who's pledged his future to the club? Nah you're alright. I'm sure I read that BP doesn't like loaning others' youngsters as it limits the chance for ours to come through anyway.
Also Buyens is better than Poyet, and do not believe Buyens and Poyet would work together well, both too defensive and probably offers little support going forward. Would rather try Cousins in the middle.
Hope he continues to sit on the bench and feature for the U21s and in an ideal world we'd sneak up by playoffs and West Ham would be relegated. Oh how I'd love to see his face is that happened.
For me, it isn't that Poyet went, it's the WAY he went. I remain convinced that regardless of the actual sums involved he never had any intention of signing a new contract once richer clubs started sniffing around. His dad is not only an ex-player but a current manager and would have been quite clear that the power was entirely in Diego's hands - a hand which got stronger once he started actually living up to the hype.
It's the bollocks about his cryptic comments regarding 'the true story' (I am paraphrasing) which, shockingly enough, hasn't come to anything at all that really annoy me. It was about money, it was always about money, you know it, we know it, you know we know it so don't try and bullshit us Diego.
Not convinced it was exclusively about money for Poyet - it will have also been about ambition, ego and where he sees himself in the scheme of things. For him it's a "promotion" at work, and I am also pretty sure he will have convinced himself he would have had a part to play at WHU (not on the bench). Don't bear him a grudge; it was up to the previous regime to try and tie him down. Don't think it would be a good idea to take him back though, for the reasons others have highlighted above.
Whatever Diego says most Charlton fans will cry about, so he's prolly best off saying nothing but he said too much before he got to that point but he's arrived at it now so time to #moveon

Or maybe he saw that SA was hanging on by a thread last season and it's probably unlikely he'll still be their manager come the end of this season....................

Allardyce has a contract until the end of the season. I doubt West Ham will renew it.
Why does anyone for one second belive Diego is coming back on loan
Wishful thinking, personally whether we want it or not I can't see it happening, let's focus on what we've got and coming up with songs for the players we've got so that they feel wanted and special by the fans.
Why does anyone for one second belive Diego is coming back on loan
Because fans love what is familiar - we extend our support for the badge and the club above and beyond to make heros out of all the players on the stage...some take it too far but that's their problem!

Not all of us want to see him return......................

I think it was his 'tweet' about returning to pastures old, which 'I think' was referring to him coming back to see Gomez, but people took it as meaning he was coming back to play, probably as captain and becoming our top scorer in their tiny minds.
IMO I don't blame him, yes I would rather he stayed but look at players like Dean Ashton retired aged 26 due to injury you never know how long your career will last, so players need to look at their future for instance: say we offered £10K P/W on a 4 year that's just over £2 Million for the 4 years and West Hams offer was £20k P/W on a 4 year deal that's just over £4 Million
If the worst case happens and he does suffer a serious injury he will have more money in his pocket for taking the higher offer
and if he does have a injury free career he knows that at some stage he will probably be first team for West Ham
as I say I would of loved him to stay but don't blame him at all

heaven forbid anyone has to suffer the humiliation of only living off £2 million for the rest of their lives.

never said that my point was £2 Million or £4 Million which is better, obviously £4 Million so why have 2 when you can have 4
