But Riga hasn't changed our style dramatically IMO
We still hooked long balls forward to no one at Millwall today, we still didn't create much.
Yes we retain the ball and pass it around the back, largely due to Poyet not Riga or CP, but we don't penetrate or create much.
Not slagging off JR as far too early but some people are convincing themselves there has been a huge change because they want believe that rather then because it actually has IMO

He's right though. Theres so many on here who really need to move rather than crying like a kid who didnt get the christmas present they wanted. Powells gone, after doing a decent job in fairness. But we werent doing well and we already look better. Move on, support Riga, support the team, support the club, not Powell just because he was a genuine character who liked the club.

You're right in some respects but, for me, the ball is moving faster. The confidence in receiving the ball looks better as well, but a long way to go. See how he does against Eddie Howe.
By the way Seth do you ever leave your PC - you've been oh so prolific since you know who got the tin tack.
Not a lot, the wife hogs the telly. Mind you I went to the Globe Theatre on Thursday and saw Merchant of Venice since you're kind enough to ask. Wednesday afternoon a lecture on Ancient Greek Theatre, the evening at the Valley. Last Monday I was working, oh and Friday I had to schlepp to Heathrow and back. The rest of the time I have to use to maintain all my multiple identities on Charlton Life.
Actually the production emphasised the idea that it is money that makes the world go round which had a sense of irony for me at the time of watching it, played the religion down a little, although it is inevitably there in the play. First time I've seen a Jacuzzi used in a play BTW.
Give the bloke a chance As we know he didnt pick team or take the training before the the udders game So realy today was his 1st And a point away at stadium toolbox is not bad in my book?
Think Henry is right. No significant changes in the play but I get an air of positivity which I think had gone under Chrissy. We're good enough to stay up and I think those loan signings are close now that JR has had a look at what the current players can do.

and utilised his significant knowledge of the english game to bring in the players we need? I hope to god someone is advising our 'head coach'

Seems to me that we are gaining far more corners. That's an indication that we are spending more time in the final third. We also seem to be pressing forward at the end of games rather than trying to defend what we already have. We also have a previously important player who hadn't had a look in for most of the season (Pritchard) back in the fold. That will be like having a new signing. Same could be said of Sordell who appears to have upped his game considerably. IMO Riga or any manager coming in, just needed to play the players in their best positions and put some faith in players we know are capable of performing at this level. You shouldn't need to tell a footballer to push forward with the ball and attack the opposition, it should be firmly in their DNA. It's more a case of releasing the shackles and giving them the confidence to do what should come naturally to them.
We know that Dyer took training and picked the game for Wednesday and JR has made one change to the starting line up since then. Dyer brought Pritchard back into the squad and Sordell into the team. In the next couple of weeks we should start to see Riga' s Influence take effect, then we can have reasonable "Riga is the Messiah" and "Riga's football is terrible" threads
Pritchard was excellent last season and if he gets that form back it will be like signing a new player. I was upset Chrissy was sacked, but relieved it is looking like the new man knows what he is doing. He isn't going to be a liability and maybe the lack of tension between owner and manager can help us.

Saw Merchant on Wednesday.

Powell is a reactive manager Riga appears to be proactive As the old saying goes let the opposition worry about us. Rigas not afraid to change it around subs and formation wise whereas Powell mainly made subs when we went behind, We all used to moan about Powells nous when it came to subs. Riga gets my full support as did Powell until he gives me reason to question his ability but so far so good! I think Riga can keep us up I don't think Powell would have.
I think Powell would have and am relieved as I think Riga can too. Where I was frustrated with Powell as a manager was his subs and occasional negativity. I think Powell could see a sub needed to be made, but tended to hold off and I believe that the minute you feel a sub needs to be made, is the time to make it! Then we had far too many draws from winning positions which was due to sitting back too much. But Chrissy was a great squad builder and Riga benefits from the fact that he has some decent players that Powell has left him, despite us losing a couple of our best. Hopefully Riga is better placed to persuade RD that it is worth pushing the boat out on a couple of quality loans that will get us over the line.
I also think CP could have kept us up but I think the off field tensions that Chris was experiencing had started to manifest on the pitch over the final few weeks. Same group of players and coach not under as much pressure might just give us the lift we need. As Muttley says the addition of a couple of quality loans will also help.
I thought riga's decision for whatever reason to take ajderavic off at half time was a good move. Cousins energy really lifted charlton. Millwall were never allowed to play through their midfield after that. Just lumping up to the big Austrian. Morrison and dervite absolutely awesome.
