  • seth plum, you're obsessed with the idea that we're gonna be a feeder club for Standard Liege and you base that idea on.......one comment, yes one comment made by a man with English as a second language.
How do you know his real plans?

Let's wait and see before getting all hysterical.

Anyone with even the slightest intelligence knows that a lot more money can be made by taking Charlton to The Premiership than for getting Standard Liege into The Champions League, it will be a much harder task and will cost more but the rewards are considerably greater.

With his "collection" of football clubs, RD could make both Charlton and Standard Liege his priorities and feed both of them.

You have no hard evidence to back up your lunatic rantings, you're accusing our new manager of all manner of things that you "perceive". FFS calm down seth plum, just reel your neck in slightly, cut the new regime a little bit of slack and take a look at how we're doing in say a months time when we'll have more of an idea where we're going.

Your paranoia and tantrums won't change anything, Powell aint coming back, RD aint gonna sell the club back to Jiminez and Slater and any protest or boycott etc won't help the players on the pitch or the club we all love.

The vast majority of Charlton fans don't post on the internet they discuss things down the pub or at work and trust me seth, most Charlton fans I know (and I know a lot) are quite relieved that Powell has at last been relieved of his duties (with respect for the man intact) and are quite looking forward to the beginning of a new era at The Valley.

Calm and rational, have a like from me.

I am glad you're happy, and I apologise that you have endured my lunatic rantings, paranoia and tantrums.

Just to be accurate there is more than one comment, yes one comment, out there to inform the debate. I wrote a transcript of part of the interview, but there is more there for all to read. There is other evidence too, and the phenomenology of events seem to point to the fact that we are to lose autonomy and become subservient to Standard Liege.
That's my opinion call it paranoia if you like. if reporting what is out there is the lunatic ramblings of the paranoid, then I suppose you must be right...errrm...well because you must be right I suppose. In that regard DFT I urge you never to reel your own neck in, because your right to free speech ought to be available to you.

If I write about my perception of things it is because I thought this was a forum where people are allowed some kind of freedom of speech and to express themselves. I have not insulted fellow fans in my lunacy and paranoia and tantrums, but the apparantly cool sensible and measured fans on here like you have felt free to chuck personal insults my way.

You are right I won't change anything, but I don't see why you feel that I shouldn't enjoy the freedom of speech afforded to you.

  • I don't think that it's just because CP has been sacked that a lot of people are unhappy, I suspect that a fair few feel that something rotten is happening down in SE7.

So, fine if you wish to support the club at all costs but equally fine to voice your opinion or take some form of action if you feel otherwise.

When we buggered off to Selhurst there were plenty of people who didn't make the journey and I understood why and in my eyes it didn't make them any less a supporter, because I fully understood their reasons for not going. Equally I'd like people to understand why some won't be going to The Valley for the foreseeable future or renewing their season tickets.

We all have choices and opinions and we're able to make our choices as to where we spend our hard earned.

something rotten was happening well before RD took over and some of the things were very rotten yet fans pointing this out were scaremongering when in truth most were burying their heads in the sand and ignoring it. now their heads are above the sand and they are up in arms although things are no worse under RD and may, in time, actually be much better. I'm not greatly enthused at the moment but am willing to see if his plan works. At least their is a plan.

  • We all support our football club in different ways,
The club can equally hold in importance to individuals in different ways
People's enjoyment factors / moral compasses are completely different.

No one has the right to tell anyone else what should be acceptable for them.

For some it might be the club signing a convicted rapist for a striker
or appointing an odious individual for a manger
or increasing their season ticket by 200 pounds
or becoming a 'linked club' with one / many others where it is effectively controlled by an overseas network ultimately for the individual benefit of the owner, or the betterment of another club

At the moment the main fears for some at Charlton are being realised already, for others they are no where near that.

But there is no straight line for one is seen is right / wrong for everyone across the board.
  • We don't know any of this for sure, why worry about what might not even be happening?

If RD was happy for us to go down so he saves £4m (as some have suggested) why not just leave Powell in charge then? Instead he has had to pay Powell the remainder of his contract and also pay the new management team.

That sounds more like RD is trying to keep us up.

Too many myths and too much speculation going on!

This is the main thing for me.

I know people passions are high but there seems to be to much assumption and speculation, and it seems to be like scaremongering at times.

Some people may not like what Roland has done to powelly but Roland saved CAFC from going out of business!
  • Managers come and go but the club goes on.

Except, it seems, Charlton as we know it - an autonomous competitive club in the top two tiers of the English professional game - no longer exists. Instead, our owner wishes to use us to further the fortunes of another club. That's my view and it seems Seth and I aren't far removed. There's plenty of evidence for it, my conclusion may prove to be misfounded, but it's not an unreasonable one to draw given events since RD took over.

Maybe it's as simple as Powell being stubborn and wanting control. If it isn't, the future looks dark indeed.
