What exactly would we be protesting against? The board? If so, are you saying you want them out?

    Absolutely, 100% yes.
    Absolutely YES again!!
Well that's now 5 of you

Turning around in the lower west at half time will mean facing the directors box: but nobody will be there to see the protest. Not a good idea...Support the team!

Wouldn't mind turning round to face the Directors Box if Katrien is sitting there!

  • Get behind the team - any negative protest will be very damaging to the team at an absolutely crucial time. The players deserve our support and should get it.
  • Charlton don't do protesting on a school night.
  • anyone interested in making some form of a protest and if so what idea's do you have

And what will that achieve. It won't change the chairman's mind and it won't even bother him. It will just have a negative effect on the player's
  • I don’t know how we would organise it, as it was spontaneous with Curbs, but I think the 7 or 8 minute sustained standing and hand clapping is a special honour we should reserve for legends. I have no doubt that Chrissy falls into this category whatsoever, so if some got us started on say 85 minutes by singing stand up for Chrissy Powell, and we clap till the final whistle– I think it would be a fitting a moving gesture.

Not sure it is a protest as such, but it will send a message to Chrissy and if anybody else recieves it, all well and good.
  • The Valencia fans behind one goal in the match against Swansea all left for the last ten mins or so of the first half, leaving a large empty space in the ground. They then came back second half and made 45 minutes of constant noise.

    That was very effective

Not enough Charlton fans with enough feel for the club for something like that to work at the Valley though
  • Protest? Fucking hell, people were nearly in tears on here when someone suggested a pitch invasion when we won the league.

  • Singing "Chrissy Powells Red Army", "Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell" etc during the game should make the point without being abusive or offensive.

Reckon this is the way to do it. Send the message but stay positive.

  • If you want to protest, and I admit I'm sitting on the fence here as I haven't really figured out what I make of it all yet, the only type of protest that will make any difference, especially as it'll be KM and RM at the ground not RD, would be to stay away from the ground completely. Don't buy a ticket, don't buy a pint, don't buy a programme or a pie or a jackpot ticket. Stay away and cut the clubs revenue. That'll get noticed. Singing CPs name by the Sam Bartram statue, while well meant, will be water off a duck's back if the duck even hears it. By turning up you'll effectively saying that your not happy with the decision but you'll put up with it, which is fine if it's how you feel but if it is why bother with a half hearted 'protest'.
  • The problem is, there are too many fickle fans out there....

My other half just reminded me of Cardiff's situation. The directors sacked their manager after he got them promoted and changed their kit.... Fans still attended though!

Our fans are patheticly clueless, this news doesn't just mean a new manager, it means RD is doing everything and anything he wants. Feels disgusting to say but we are now a nothing club who will bat around lower leagues for donkeys years.

He isnt getting any of my cash the sod.

Cancelled CAFC player this morning, glad I hadn't renewed my ticket yet.
Think you will find that your money doesnt go to the club for CAFC Player, its a media company that host the service as they do alot of football clubs.
  • What are we protesting against?

The fact that pretty much everything our new owner has done so far has been to the detriment of the club and the benefit of Roland's pocket. But you just go along and clap the lads, most of whom will be reserves and cast-offs from Roland's other interests. Nevermind that we're now destined for a completely unnecessary relegation because of the actions of a chairman who doesn't give a toss about the welfare of the club.
  • Ok, so lets so you all hold a protest (it won't happen, but lets say it did) - what would be the exact outcomes you would want on the back of it?

He knows this isn't a popular decision. Telling him at the game will make zero difference!

I'm absolutely up for singing SCP's name as a celebration for what he has done for us. Chucking an empty bovril mug at the Director's Box will cause bedlam on here the next day so its not worth the energy!

Disagree. By not being there you would be, literally, unseen.

If people want to protest let them. Others don't want to which is also fine although it does make be laugh that some can't see that you can both protest against the owners AND support the players. They are not mutually exclusive.

Thing is Paulie or whoever you need to do it and not wait for someone else to do it for you

Sing Chris's name, get a banner made that will be photographed by the press looking for a protest (and see how long before the stewards remove it) but if you want it to happen don't talk about it on here expecting others to do it. They won't. It has to be you doing it.

  • This should do it

Agreed. Until enough fans who care realise what is happening and the protest is organised it needs to be individual and however that individual sees fit.

Exactly. The Cardiff supporters just bent over and let him get away with it and now they've got what they deserved - a farce of a club.

And now we're about to do exactly the same (but with League 1 football rather than Premiership football as the reward). RD should be sitting in a theatre of hatred tomorrow evening, but at worst he'll get a couple of half-hearted boos. Our current support would never have got us back to The Valley.

Didn't the Southampton fans have all these ideas when Adkinson was sacked, full house every week now, playing better football and higher up the league.

Give us strength! But Southamptin are not part of some mad businessmans way to make his next packet by tying in a newtwork of clubs to feed Liege!

Cardiff have gone through a gradual process of alienating their traditional fan base year on year and replacing them with the happy clappy type who don't have the experience of what Cardiff once were.

Once you supress and push out those that do care and replace them with those who lap up the corporate football model then it's easier to push through your ideas.

Success also helps convert those less trusting and Cardiff managed to get promotion which has obviously helped. Sadly for the Cardiff fans who were going prior to the recent few years, their club will never be the same again but they are just a vocal minority. Don't think they just bent over and took it.

I don't recall Nicola Cortese selling off Southampton's best players, bringing in inadequate replacements to suit his own agenda and trying to influence Adkin's team selections.

  • Great respect for Chrissy as a player, manager and true gent!! Gutted in fact at his leaving, but something had to change.
We still have games in hand and still have something to play for. The games this week will be critical to our survival in this league.
I'm as frustrated and upset as everyone, but I'm a supporter of CAFC (past, present and future) and will be there Wednesday evening, cheering those players wearing my club's shirt, regardless of who they are.
Let's unite, but if you must indeed 'protest', just vote with your feet rather than unsettle the new manager and team who need us backing them at this time.
Good luck to us all eh!!
  • For those "voting with their feet", I don't really know what point it is you are proving? Its only our players who suffer in that case. Roland has already made his decision. He isn't going to go back on it just because 200-300 who would usually go didn't turn up to watch us play against Huddersfield on a Wednesday night.
