  • I am unsure we will get him. I know he is enjoying himself but also know he is one of those players that really rates himself - he probably thinks he can do a job somewhere bigger or better.

Oh - and he hates being a target for headers! HE says "I need to use this after my football career"

I made my feelings known when creating this thread - he has future captain potential. Could be as influential as Andy Reid was so we should look to keep him
  • Ajdarevic - Quality player, much better than Stephens

    Agree 100%

Ajdarevic - Quality player, much better than Stephens

    Agree 100%</blockquote

Disagree 100% showboating unfit bigheaded twat.
  • Not sure if I'd put him down as Captain material... Doesnt seem to have a cool head and argues with players (not the best attributes for being a leader)

Certainly want him on a perm deal though as since Riga has come in... AA has been our creative force and its simple... AA plays we stand a chance of winning if he goes off or if he's not in the eleven then we've got to put in a proper defensive display and any win would be a smash and grab
  • I am a big fan. What a contribution already he has made already and I prefer him to Dale Stephens. I only wish he could play a whole game, but then that is probably the reason that he is playing at this level and not higher up.As others have said the he is best creative player we have had since Andy Reid. Like I once heard said about Reidy ,he has the touch of a champions league player but the fitness of a Sunday league player. I agree in the era of 3 subs this can be managed because for 60 / 70 minutes last night he more than did his job.

The three assists against QPR , Forest and Leeds will have gone a long way to earning us 6 extra points as well as last night's goal quantify his massive contribution . I would love to see him here next season.

As a left footer maybe Jacko and him can be rotated with each other. I like the balance that having two lefties gives us in midfield and hopefully the more direct Harriott can become more consistent and U21 players Kadell Daniel ,Harry Gerard and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis can break through and give us more even more left footed options.
  • Maybe he's just not made to last 90 minutes of intense football.

He has probably made it as a football based on pure class, whereas in England most of our players make it on physical attributes.
  • Ajdarevic - Quality player, much better than Stephens IMO - just a shame he cannot last longer than 70 mins at the moment.
Would love to see him sign in the summer although he does moan alot at other players, did anyone notice him giving it to Wood last night?

Which you have to admit is better than seeing him give wood to someone!
  • By the end of the season he might be able to manage 90 mins in the odd game but not Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday/Tuesday. Like a lot of new foreign players, he is definitely a player that needs a full week to recover. Plus had he actually played much football this season before joining us?
  • I talk about Ajdarevic's recent performances in my latest blog piece:

  • I think his fitness must be quite good when you consider he was bench warming before; and now he's been thrown in to a team who are getting run ragged playing two games a week in a relegation battle.

He's already improved in my mind, he's adjusted to Championship football really well. I think with a decent pre-season behind him he could really be a positive force in our midfield.

Ambition; I like that. I hope he's not so ambitious that we can't get him for a bit longer/perm.

His history is a bit checkered in the UK, and obviously RD sees the UK as a good market for improving the resale value of players. So it makes business sense.

  • The stamina side of his game is puzzling - especially as he's already had a good grounding in England.

He came through a number of seasons in the Liverpool youth and development teams, plus afterwards a season or 2 at Leicester.

I'm wondering if it even is a fitness thing at all, I am sure the coaches and physios have been working to get him up to speed, when he's firing on all cylinders he is quite probably the most talented player at the club but after about an hour you can almost see him just run out of energy. It's not even particularly gradual, he seems to go from active to almost stationary in about thirty seconds. What the answer is I do not know!
  • He had an ice pack on his ankle after the yeovil game...maybe he is carrying a knock?
  • I think it's a genetic thing with AA. Just like some people are long distance runners, some are sprinters. Rarely is one also the other. With AA you get little more than 30 minutes and then changes are needed. Tactically we start with him or bring him on or, less likely play him for 30 minutes in the middle, which would use up 2 subs.

I sit a few rows behind our dugout. I watched him coming off and didn't notice any limping but he was blowing out his arse. I've never seen a professional footballer that knackered. He looked worse that Andy Hunt in his last game for us and he transpired to be seriously ill!

He's had enough continuous game time to get match fit and he's young and has previous experience of the English game so it's difficult to believe they're reasons. Could be a lack of effort in training but I find that unlikely. As Swords said, may just be a genetic thing that has to be accepted. Very odd for a professional footballer.

Didn't one of the players, Hughesy maybe, say that he'd not worked hard in training and the lads had needed to have a chat with him?
  • Ajdarevic is struggling with the aftereffects of flu.

"I've been ill and I've still got a cough," he said. "But I'm playing, I'm doing my best. If I have to play 50 or 60 minutes and then cough for three days then I will do that."

  • I like him and think he's our most talented player, someone who can turn a game, but he has a stamina problem. Watching him on Saturday he looked knackered in the warm up. You could see he wouldn't last the whole match.

I don't think he's that unfit. He can last 70 and that's enough if we are lucky enough to keep a player of his quality.

At his best, 30 minutes, clear evidence of that to date I think in the home games I've seen anyway.

    Alright 30 then.
  • Maybe he has got a similar condition to Andy Hunt... Got to remember that we all thought he was simply unfit or having a mare against Coventry City in his last performance and it was minutes before he was due to be subbed that he scored the winning goal, he then went off and never played for the First-Team again

Things aint always black and white with performances as they seem

You've just read that he said he's still getting over the flu and your still coming up with conspiracy theories , he's played 90 minutes a couple times this season , hope we do sign him permanently because with a full pre season behind he'll be a great player.

I think some of you are overstating his fitness issues. I reckon you could get him past the hour mark - and then it maybe time to replace him. Admittedly, it's not great having a player like that on the pitch - as it immediately limits your potential substitutions somewhat.

I agree with @Yann897 though; he could be a great asset with a pre-season under his belt.

That said, as an avid smoker who hasn't been for a run in about 2 years.. he does give me hope that I too could earn a living running around..
  • I definitely want Ajdarevic to sign on a permanent deal... We've proven we cant create anything without him

My comment about possibly being in a situation to Andy Hunt wasnt a conspiracy theory just saying that those getting on his back because of his fitness need to get off him because we dont know the full story (another example is Chris Solly where people were saying only a few days before Brighton that he would be out for the season)
  • He's a show pony!
