I can't see him moving abroad at 18. If we stay up there is a 10% chance of him staying otherwise there is a 90% chance he's off. At least no-one can blame RD on this one. We've tried to get him to sign but at the moment, as is his perogative, he has decided to wait and see. He'll leave on a free and we will get about 400k as a development fee. And let's not forgot we were one of the few Clubs, under PV's reign, that voted against the development fee structure so even TJ etc can't be blamed.
He's worth money, he has tweeted with intentions to leave (saying he won't go to anyone within RDs network).. would eat a shit sandwich if he is here for much longer.. he is the exact definition of RD's work, he's the sort of player he thinks can easily be replaced for a lot cheaper than he is sold for
He's not worth much at all as he's out of contract in the summer. He's the sort of player RD would want tied down on a long term contract so if we do sell we get a big fee.
I don't think that tweet means says a great deal really. Had he ignored it people would assume he's going to Liege. All he's said is "promise" meaning he won't sign for another of RDs clubs. Hardly surprising as only Liege could really be considered a step up.
Stay up and I think we've got a chance of keeping him. It's really down to what he wants. Some players think they can break into a bigger clubs first team quickly. Others won't want a season of u21 football with say West Ham with perhaps a few months on loan in the Championship.
If Barcelona or Inter come in then fair enough he can hardly turn that sort of opportunity down.
Shame he isn't on a long term deal like other young players, but we don't know the full story. It sounds like he probably never wanted to sign one. It seems Powell saw him breaking through this season so I can't imagine we didn't try to get him on a longer contract. We've given others 3 year deals and some of them weren't/aren't as close as Poyet to the first team.
I hope he gets some good advice before he makes his choice. That's all I think we as Charlton fans can hope for. I think the fact that his dad is a successful football man might help because I doubt his head will be turned by the shiney shiney but the chance to train with much better players on a daily basis will I think be telling.
If he leaves it will be just another in a long line of players that we never got to see enough of before they were off. If he should decide to stay it will be a great day for the club.
I saw that he gave Riga a big hug at the end of the game. Hopefully that's an indication that he gets on well with Riga and that if Riga stay's there may be some hope of keeping him.

He did say when interviewed for the Valley Review a couple of matches ago that he was definitely enjoying being under Riga and that personally he was learning a new style of play

The more measured passing style we are now playing, with Diego seeing a lot of the ball, would definitely help his game more than the direct, get it up to Yann/ANO game.
My fear is the fact that there is a boring mid table premiership club just a few miles down the road. He could move there for free with little or no disruption to his personal life and would probably get a game in the first team most weeks.
“I’m really enjoying it at West Ham” Poyet wrote on Kicca.
“I think there have been a few clubs call up about taking me on loan but I’m not one of those who is calling my agent all the time to find out what is happening and ask if anything is going on.
“People sometimes think I’m not enjoying it as I’m not playing as much as I was last year at Charlton but I’m part of a great team and a great club who are doing well in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
“I’m very, very happy here and happy to be a squad player for now and wait for my chance.
“If I need game time I play for the club’s Under-21 side so it keeps me ticking over, get minutes under my belt and then I’ll be ready should my chance come. I’m only 19 and there a lot of quality players in front of me but I’ll just keep training and be prepared when I get my chance.
“Quality wise it’s been a big step up from Charlton but now I’ve got used to it. It was quite tough as a new player at the start but now I really feel part of it. The new strikers have been on fire.”

Well done Diego.

The blame lays firmly at MS & TJ's feet. Suspect both were responsible for his "delayed" debut this season as well.
To get him sales worthy meant games, which in turn meant a wage increase
I think that means there is/was only a 10% chance we'd keep Poyet no matter what.

That way if someone is serious in buying him we get a decent transfer fee.
