Early days, early days, but I didn't think Diego was ready to make the step up just yet. Got that totally wrong. The thing is even if there is an issue with Diego's contract or something, when I have seen him play outside the first team he has seemed like a good player amongst many not the only decent one coming through. If we are going to switch emphasis on to (you can't win anything with) kids, it represents a plan, actually not such a bad plan, and it may better suit our good young players to stick around for the ride.
I thought Diego looked real quality today. Can't see him and Jordan Cousins both playing in the centre of a 442 formation as they are both defensively minded. Could see them together in a 4-2-3-1 line up though. Great to have such good youngsters coming through and hope they don't fade so badly like Callum H.
Biggest compliment I can pay him is of all the youngsters that have come through he looks the best by far. Composed on the ball, never wastes it, goes looking to pick it up from the defence can hit a range of passes puts a tackle in, good engine if he can chip in with a few we have some player on our hands. Build the team on Poyet and Cousins
it would be nice to play with either Hamer or Thuram in goal then

Like lots about that team, NLA. In an ideal world, I would just swap unproven Pete for that Breton bloke who left...then I would be confident we could get out of this. (Big assumption that Wiggo and Solly are fit, though.)
Thought he was outstanding today. Will he be able to take the pressure that a regular team place will put on his young shoulders? I think he will but then we have the problem of retaining him on a decent contract. No doubt his father will be advising him!
Seems to have good awareness of those around him and has good anticipation. Few times in the first half defenders got dragged out of position and Poyet was quick to drop in and cover.
Made some difficult stuff look easy, but also made some easy stuff look difficult. On balance though, he played well above his years and I look forward to him making that place in the middle his own.
Poyet’s contract with the South Londoners is up at the end of the season. He is prepared to wait until the end of the campaign before weighing up his options.
Poyet said: “I’m looking forward to seeing what happens and where we are at the end of the season. Then we can sit down and talk about contracts. You never know, they might not want me to sign and I’ll have to find a new club.
“At the moment I’m happy. I don’t want to rush into anything I regret.”
I don't think that is necessarily the case. I just think he wants to keep his options open. Bearing in mind the club have signed some other youngsters on longer term deals, I expect they have offered him a longer contract. I don't blame him for waiting and see, he is obviously confident in his ability and knows he wouldn't be without a club if he didn't extend his contract with CAFC. I sincerely hope he does extend of course as he is definitely one for the future and the compensation the club would get would probably be peanuts.
Sounds a bit like the jenkinson scenario. Club fails to offer a contract when they should have (Last summer at least) youth with potential reviews his options. On both occasions it is the fault of the out going regime.
i think we are starting to see a new golden generation. however we need to expect that youth players have dips in form like callum harriot and so will poyet, but it is how they react to it. if callum h just turns into a fustrating, inconsistent player who plays occasionally and doesn't take his chances, that is because he didn't bounce back from this season. if diego does this don't start getting on his back. i think our formation will have to change to accomodate our qualities. thuram solly morrison wood wiggins cousins poyet reza adjarevic harriot parzsyzek if this team can come together and play as one which i believe we can then we will do well. poyet will shine and whilst i believe he should stay here to develop, money screams.
Most worrying. I hope they get him to sign a contract. Hopefully with some ownership stability we can get these promising kids signed up earlier. I think he will leave in the summer. His father's agent probably has had a word in his ear already.
I would have thought playing time would be a major factor in whether he stays. I would have thought his father would be planning his future based on getting 1st team action at a decent level, rather than sitting in the reserves at a larger club.

Shame he doesn't play 20 yds further up the pitch though as he has a pass on him
Will be sold in the Summer
