i think we are starting to see a new golden generation. however we need to expect that youth players have dips in form like callum harriot and so will poyet, but it is how they react to it. if callum h just turns into a fustrating, inconsistent player who plays occasionally and doesn't take his chances, that is because he didn't bounce back from this season. if diego does this don't start getting on his back. i think our formation will have to change to accomodate our qualities. thuram solly morrison wood wiggins cousins poyet reza adjarevic harriot parzsyzek if this team can come together and play as one which i believe we can then we will do well. poyet will shine and whilst i believe he should stay here to develop, money screams.
Thats a quality team... Even with Wilson replacing Solly with his injuries
Think some are automatically expecting the worst case scenario based on Poyet's comments. He clearly states in that interview that if the club don't want to re-sign him then he'll have to find somewhere else.
That's the case for ALL out of contract players, its the harsh reality of being a player. Doesn't necessarily mean he is looking elsewhere whatsoever. I'd be surprised if a player was already considering angling for a bigger move after just two league games.
The Jenkinson scenario was entirely different. He didn't sign the new contract as he knew his beloved Arsenal were interested in him.
Whats more worrying than his comments is the fact that piggot (who powell clearly dosent feel is ready for the first team) has signed a new deal. That tells me Poyet (who powell must rate more highly if hes playing him in the first team - in arguable a much more improtant role) must have been offered a deal at the same time. That and his comments in the interview mean he can only be waiting to see if we stay up...if we do i'd imagine he'll sign a new deal for the playing time if we don't he's off
With the new players that we now have up front, I would be extremely surprised to see Joe Piggot make it at Charlton any time soon. I thought a three year deal was very generous at the time.

Might be more a case of seeing how involved he is with the team at the moment rather than the League we'll be in
i.e. he's getting game time at the moment but he might think that if he signs the Contract now then we're just playing him as a sweetner to sign it and once done we'll just say thank you and chuck him back into the U21s

Equally plausable but whatever the reason I think given Piggots deal Poyet has difinitely been offered a deal as well...he hasnt signed it for whatever reason and that automatically puts his future at the club in doubt

Perhaps harsh to drop Poyet given his promising start but these are Prem players. Wouldn't mind Diego in the middle and Cousins RB but we must have pace and mobility all over the pitch.

He did not sign a new contract Poyet as yet has not signed a new contract seems pretty similar to me.

Yawn , yawn. Change the record.
For the record, if correctly managed Pigott is the future.
For me it's a litmus test of all the waffle we're hearing from the new management. If we let a player of Diego's quality slip through our fingers, it really shows how little the new junta are involved, and how little faith we can place in their words about bringing through youth players. RD put your money where your mouth is. That's all!

Can't make the lad sign. He's made a breakthrough now and probably thinks quite rightly that his stock has risen enough to deserve something more than what he would have taken six months ago. That my friends is down to TJ and MS not RD who has been in control for what ? Seven weeks.
I agree that I want Diego signed up but we might just have missed the boat with this one. I suspect he will get offers from clubs with far greater pulling power than Charlton both in terms of money and stature.
It looks like the tweet came from an article in which the editor mentioned Poyet's name, not RD. The example he talked about was Eden Hazard. We can't loan players from abroad at the moment so I assume we also can't loan them out.
There is a large technical talent at Charlton (Diego Poyet, ed.) , all the flashy type of Eden Hazard. That boy is missing, however, some body for physically demanding English football. Then he can better develop his skills in the Spanish second division. " Aldorcon so.
Poyet isn't a small winger/attacker, he's a central midfielder who looks like he'll be more than comfortable physically in English football in time. He's competing just fine at the moment in a physical league.
Nothing to worry about. Only concern I have is that he may turn down a contract offer and leaves us in the summer. We've started signing young players on long term deals this season, hopefully that will continue to avoid situations like this.
People are reading far too much into the article. Sounds to me more like a lighthearted comment that many would say... Ie, who knows, charlton may not want to re-sign me.
Diego Poyet, Tik a bow son!!! Absolute brilliant performance today!! Anyone see his challenge which lead up to the corner for JJ to head home ?! Absolutely brilliant!

stevey brown at wembley esque that challenge was! Top performance from the young man, him and cousins are going to be a quality pair.

Just like the Steve Brown tackle in the play off final.
Incredibly mature & dominant performance today from such a young man. We need to build our team around him & Cousins over the next few years. He is going to be a quality player & I really fear he will leave at the end of the season for Premiership riches. Shame on our previous owners for not signing him up much earlier.
Perhaps Poyet is waiting to see if he becomes a regular in the first team rather than sign a contract to warm the bench? I hope that he is reassured and signs a very long contract asap.

It's a bloody shame all the same.

Poyet looked very solid indeed, and him and AA combined brillinatly in the time AA was on...
We need to get safe and then drive forward next year as we will get a proper offer for this guy..
