    Picture this

Sub comes on with 15 mins to go, takes a corner and doesn’t clear the first defender, ball comes back to him and the resulting cross doesn't clear the first defender.

This guy gets paid to play football FFS.

    What goes on in training?

Think he is trying to score from the corner, still is was a bit better than his free kick that hit the wall.
Yeah, and he took a massive run up for that free kick, as well. I stupidly thought, 'He's gonna wallop this in. Look at the run up.' Followed by, 'For f*ck's sake!'

Green was actually ok until those incidents previously stated. Moved and passed well and wanted to get involved.

I thought the same as he lined up for the free kick... THEN..(the angle he hit it at (and straight at the wall) ...I just burst into hysterical laughter and could not stop. You either laugh or you cry.

I swear supporting Charlton is bad for my mental health!

  • Katrien will be fully aware after watching yesterday's match and will have passed on her concerns regarding lack of goals etc.

All I know is that Katrien is in very regular contact with RD & am sure will have reported back the shortcomings & plus points from the B'Ham game.

Don't mean to be picky, but I find these points (from Fanny's earlier posts) a little disconcerting. Katrien is first and foremost a lawyer. Chris Powell is our manager and he really ought to have both a trusting relationship and regular and open face to face communications with the owner, so that RD gets it direct from a real football man about what the team's deficiencies are and what needs to be done to address them. Katrien has a key role in supporting CP and then handling the negotiations and finances - but if RD is trusting KMs views more than CPs on footballing matters I think that is unfair to both of them and a recipe for disaster.
  • Thought some of the new faces looked decent. Reza looked very lively in the first half making some good intelligent runs in between defenders. AA looked very good on the ball. We still don't look much like scoring.

Hoping a week away from the league will allow us to try and accommodate the better players in their best positions and see how that works. I'd like to try this team. If Wiggins is fit replace Jackson.

    Hamer?

    Dervite Morrison Wood

    Wilson Cousins Poyet Jackson

    AA

    Reza PP

Oh dear. This is exactly why some Lifers decide not to share their thoughts with others on here, I'm afraid. Words are examined in minute detail & honest statements picked to pieces at times.

Not pointing the finger at you in particular, Davo, but as one of the "faces of Charlton" ( together with RM), Katrien will be in regular contact with RD and hence I believe that she will have talked to him about Saturday's game that evening.

That is not to say that RD & SCP will ALSO have spoken on the phone that same evening. Face to face communications may be not as regular due to RD's base in Belgium. In the current world of business, I would expect communication by email/phone/Skype etc is an ongoing & regular occurrence.

Of course I realise that we are all worried about the current situation at our Club & liable to react to every nuance or poorly worded statement....I'm probably one of the worst. But I assure you that, from what I heard at the recent FF meeting & on Saturday, communication between all parties involved is not the problem it appeared to be within the previous regime's "reign".

No doubt, the gaffer will be asked about his relationship with RD at Bromley Addicks' forthcoming mtg and again at the VIP evening , just as he was questioned at the November 2012 Q & A at Dartford FC when TJ & MS were on board....

This is exactly it. If this is the idea then they should get a DoF in. Either that or RD actually speaks directly to Powell. Just an idea.

Do you really think he doesn't ?

  • It doesn’t matter who has spoken to who – we know that RD will be fully aware of our current limitations – given the amount of money he has invested in us. What we don’t see – and hopefully it is going on – is how desperate we are to find the solutions in the loan window. I don’t think there is a cut price option- but it will be cheaper to find than the results of relegation!

Fair enough Fanny, and apologies for any unintended offence caused. I'm just anxious to see some tangible evidence of a positive relationship between CP and RD, and communication via a third party, even the respected KM, would be concerning.

Well, he didn't on the Kermorgant sale did he?

Do you know that for sure, RR ?

IMHO there were some misleading "statements" about that issue.

Thanks for your response, Davo. We're all hurting , I know.

No one knows "for sure" either way do they.

edit: but I'm more inclined to believe Kermorgant.
  • Nearly got there last Saturday, thought we played some attractive football at times, but for me still left it too late, changing strikers
Moving forwards I want to see…

Thuram / Hamer, with Phillips cover

Back 4 with Solly and Wiggins out at present for me it has to be Nego RB his natural position, Morro / Wood RCB Lennon LCB his best position, Fox LB his natural position

Midfield Poyet Cousins with AA and Wilson/Harriot and B Jordan on bench with …Green?

Up front Gucci PP Church... take your pick

dont want to hear about 'how they are here' and 'how they have to get used to the team', for me AA was a breath of fresh air out there on Saturday and to a point Gucci too, they were pact, worked hard and looked like they wanted to be there so for me thas a good start. I also think they will align better with the youth players style of play. Christ, we've tried everything else, give the development players their head and lets see what they can do, I genuinely believe they will deliver better than we have seen so far this season and will suit the new signing style of play a lot better.

Time for a big change... are we up to it?
  • Posting late but thought Poyet looked excellent otherwise I have to say I thought we still lacked a cutting edge and please somebody tell CP two things 1) JJ can't cut it any more and 2) Cousins is not a wide player.
The new boys looked OK Reza needs to man up a bit though oh and Sordell should never get on the pitch again lazy and demotivated, whatever is causing that I don't care he is a waste of space. Preparing myself for League 1 as we are probably down unless we kick into another gear.
  • If we win the game in hand against Barnsley, we are out of the bottom 3. If we do strengthen a bit it is still possible, but you get the feeling we are at a crucial stage.

well no we aren't. Millwall have 2 games before we next play. We could be about 7 points in the zone
  • You're a happy bunny Mike.
  • The Wall Spanners could just as easily lose their games and we could have three games on them and a few points behind ... being an optimist
  • Or win 9 of our games and we don't worry what other teams are doing

They'll probably only win 1 more match all season.

    Isn't that right, Oohaaah ?

  • We are in the relegation zone so I s'pose it makes sense to play 3 at the back.
Haven't we conceded at least twice late on shortly after Dervitte being introduced as a 3rd centre half.
Dervitte created confusion as we sit even deeper with the extra defender in no mans land ahead of the two centre halves.
Don't see AA in the hole behind strikers. Tried that many times before with little success eg Pritchard.
a 3rd striker must play that role as they understand the movement required to make the role effective.
Unless of course you're looking for that guy to simply charge around which is not really AA game. Type of player to be given the ball as opposed to searching it out.

  • Church is quite good at charging around!

Thought Dervite comes on as a defensive midfielder, not a 3rd CB???

You can't compare AA to Pritchard, completely different style of footballer all together. Seems to me AA is perfect for that role.
  • The reality is that apart from all the other problems, we have no championship level centre-backs.

I wouldn't agree with that. Morrison and Cort definitely are. Not sure on Wood. Dervite isn't. Midfield and width is our problem.

That a boy Kap - I'm a glass half full type of guy too whereas poor Mike is going through a half empty period of his life. It will pass Mike ;-))

I pity the good folk of Bournemouth after you know who are consigned to tier 3 on the last day of the season! Cue all police leave suspended for the weekend!!

  • The match I presume you're referring to is at millwall

Millwall v Bournemouth is their last game of the season
  • Right! That will teach me not to trust anything posted on this site ;-)))
