Loan Window expectations...

  • If there was a plan in place, surely we would have brought in any decent loan signings by now , given the fact of our league position, and how many games we've got coming up?
  • Given up now expecting decent loan signings. To be honest If I were a manager of another club with someone to loan or a player thinking about being loaned out I would give us a miss as well.

We've got most of our player contracts and our management contracts coming to an end in the Summer, we're bottom of the league, we've got no discernable pattern of play, there's scant evidence of any decent coaching and we've got new owners who are at best an unknown quantity. We're a complete basket case of a club at the minute.

I don't blame Roland but haven't seen much evidence that he's that concerned about us going down. And yet I still check the loans thread twice a day. What a mug!

I blame Roland and his football advisors have got it badly wrong. Still checking the loans page is quite worrying though VM.

We assumed there must be a plan - there was of course but it had one small flaw - as Blackadder would say......It was bollocks!
  • Cmon, do you really think there is going to be any loan signings ?? Of course there isnt.
Duchatelet doesnt care about us or the club - all he cares about is making money. As mentioned lots of times, if there was any hint of 'care' then Kermy/Stephens and Alnwick wouldnt hjave been sold.
He dosent care about us or the team - all he cares about is bringing along youth that he can then sell at a profit.

Do you know the background stories on why those players were sold? I do, Kermy was offered a new contact (but turned it down), Stephens wanted to leave(and would have gone for free in the summer) and poor Alwnick had a few personal issues which meant he couldnt train.
  • I think we will get two or three in, expect them to be of the Tudgay standard though.

also if i'm right in thinking that when RD took over Liege he

    1. Sold their two best players (sound familiar?)
    2. Replaced them with a bunch of unknown youngsters (hmmmmm)
    3. Fans got all crazy and angry about it (i say nothing....)
    4. Sacked the manager and brought in his own (depends on CP resolving the 'footballing' issues)
    5. Topped the league the next year (I'll have a bit of that!)

maybe just maybe he has got a formula that works......

I have seen this formula in operation several times in the workplace with varying results. The irony is that if the club had the correct resources and strategy last summer then we would not be where we are now licking our wounds after yesterday. Granted the team and management had to get there in the first place but we have certainly gone through steps 1 and 2 above.
I wonder are the fans crazy and angry about the result, the performance, team selection or the inability to sign adequate reinforcements.

Many comments about finance but our cup run was worth nearly £1M which can't have been in the budget. It would have been worth £2.5M if we had won! That's about the same as our season ticket sales just to put it in perspective.

  • It is a worry that RD might be stupid enough to think that if that scenario worked out well in the end for SL, it will probably work for us. He may not be, but we have no evidence to the contrary so it can't be ruled out.
  • Who in their right mind would come to us now, knowing foreign players will be in ahead of them.
  • This is what worries me the most about this appointment.

Riga will not have the contacts or knowledge of English players to know who might come in and make a difference.

I normally try to stay positive ,but I think we are relegated now.

That would be the same Tudgay held up as proof that CP still had some influence on transfers? Hmm...
  • Might explain lack of activity in getting in loans that CP identified ? I wonder if now that RD's man is in place we might just see us pushing the boat out a little. Doubt the new man fancies relegation any more than we do. Grasping at straws ?
  • One possibility is Jose's namesake at the Bridge. If it is true the he did some coaching for Real Madrid. Would Chelsea be more likely to look favourably on us now as an option to loan players to ?

    We need reinforcements for Saturday.
  • Nobody wanted to come before- so in that respect at least nothing has changed!

But was that in spite or or because of Powell ? The Dr Kish blog claimed we had been blacklisted by some clubs/agents.

  • It is irrelevant - I doubt it would be because of him - but whatever the reasons, they are not more likely to want to come now!
  • Mates with Jose?

We'll have Hazard, Oscar, Matic and Torres please.

Oh and Lukaku next season regardless of league.

Oh why not send Lampard to us for some match fitness for a few weeks.
  • becchio to millwall is a possibility ive heard
  • Isn't it only domestic loans this window? Can't see us getting anything extra now.
  • Not going to attract anyone now after the Powell saga... Unless Waffle can play??

Good our network is an elusive club. We don't want or need any outsiders coming in and ruining it. Look how bad Polish Pete has turned out to be.

  • Luke Young looked good for QPR U21's yesterday. Would mean Wilson could move forward into right midfield.

Rich Cawley on twitter: Also sounds like Derek Boateng to #cafc could be back on. Reason it didn't happen before is that CP not keen on a deal.

?? The ghananian player mentioned on the other thread ??

Leicester are top of the league. That is the standard of this division. We are nowhere near it. I suspect Standard were closer than bottom of their league when he took over and had already qualified for the Europa League. Can you really see us going form 24th to 1st by this time next year? Not a chance.

Would be a good option, would also reduce the need for a right winger if Wilson playered there.

Love to get someone like Beechio in

Why would we be blacklisted by clubs/agents? maybe it was TJ/MS not paying bills?

Possibly , the other theory was around SCP not giving them enough game time. We had the problem at the start of his reign with the young Fulham Goalkeeper and Mark Hughes , it was said that others were not impressed with the lack of game time some had.
  • hope the scum don't get Bechio, but wish we had an owner like there's,dont seem worried in giving his manager some dosh ,ours just give forein fringe players
  • Martin Paterson has gone on loan from Huddersfield to Bristol City.

He knows how to put the ball in the net, usually against us.

Would have been a decent signing. I think it's creative players we need as well as a half-decent forward.

He was good in his day, but maybe a bit too old for us now ;-)
