Hi OP, serious question, are there any decent hotels to stay at in Sheffield?
Depends what you want, Garrison is decent close to the ground and there's your usual chain hotels in the City Centre. I'd recommend the Leopold or perhaps the Hillsborough Hotel if you want a bit of real ale.
You'd have to ask Chef Wendy I think about that. I think I am right, although AB will correct me I'm sure, but they set the prices although we would have some input if we thought the pricing too prohibitive. I can only assume that they think we will take thousands and that this way it somehow rewards loyal fans, ie season ticket holders. How many red card holders wouldn't know a season ticket holder who could get them one though?
Both clubs have to agree to pricing, it's still cheaper than most games even at 'full price'
They don't. The rules have changed for the FA Cup. The home club only needs the away club's agreement to charge away fans more than home fans in corresponding areas.
My mistake AB but I don't see the issue with rewarding ST holders myself.

Stayed at the hilsborugh hotel a few years ago. Definitely one for ale enthusiasts.

I don't have an issue with it myself, except having been in charge of ticket sales I can tell you it's a pain in the arse to administer. For example, it will be the reason - coupled with antiquated systems - Charlton are not selling tickets online.
The other likely difference at Charlton is that a big chunk of our crowd is season-ticket holders, probably a higher proportion that most other clubs even now, and certainly a high percentage of travellers.
When we sold out the Putney End at Fulham two years ago we just decided to treat every sale as a season ticket sale by default and there wasn't much they could do about it!
@operationpig is parking up at Meadowhall mall and then getting the tram to Leppings Lane a decent way to go? Just me and my young boy. Can you get away from the ground sharpish on the tram?
It's a good way to do it plus it's free to park at Meadowhall, car would be safe too as it's a big mall covered with CCTV.
The actual tram stop is located across the road from the Meadowhall shopping complex, with a bridge leading to M&S, so I'd park in the M&S carpark area, it will save your legs with your young lad. The Bus/Train and Tram are all next to each other, just note where they are going.
Getting the Tram back might be an issue straight away as it will be packed, like Sheff Red said, just wait a while at the Tram stop until you think you'll get a seat, it'll not take long they run every 10 minutes or so.
Undecided on this one, can't really afford it but really fancy it. The last time I was at Hillbrough I was a steward and had the job of stopping lads peeing against a wall behind the seats! Lol at Northerners...it was seriously hard to pursuade them to put "it" away!

Loads mate, depends what you want, if staying in the heart of Sheffield centre then yeah, like the others have said the Leopold is nice, St Pauls on Surrey Street is too, then you have others
Can I also say fantastic effort by selling 620 tickets, that some first day that, I don't want to sound patronising but I reckon you'll surprise a few of us up here with the numbers that you might bring up.

That would work, parking at Meadowhall is free too (guessing that's what you've opted for this). I've never got the tram back, they look pretty packed as you'd expect, but don't think you'll have to wait around for too long.

Thanks to all for the info, looking forward to this.
Whatever your opinions on the Hilllsbrough disaster, or Liverpudlians in general, that was easily the most disgusting thing I have read on here since 2006.
Anyway, I am hoping to go to this, I think we will sell 3k+.

I'm just intrigued as to what Rothko said!
