For those going via Doncaster, there's a bloody replacement bus service between there and Sheffield. It takes about 50 minutes.

Yeah, you have to be on your toes after the game even to get the 19.36 from Doncaster. Allow for an hour from final whistle to get to Sheffield station

I'm staying overnight thankfully. I will moan about it on Saturday and there's a tight connection on the way up but at least train tickets for Leeds aren't going to waste.
  • how long will it take on tram to meadowhall
  • how long will it take on tram to meadowhall

1/2 hour, but after the game it is usually a scramble to get a tram, would not imagine you would bet to Meadowhall much before 5.45

    Wednesday have come good lol.

You are never round here when you are doing shite, have a little run and you're on here like it's smack.
Last time they played Sheff Utd he had it on his toes. Wasn't seen for weeks. When they finally did find him he looked like forrest gump and had a load of the Sheff Utd firm behind him.Run him all over Sheffield they did.
    Weird

Thaks for bringing the memories back, the last time we played the Pigs - a 1-0 win at Hillsborough that sparked our good run that ended up with us piping them to promotion, 38k at Hillsborough on the final day.

    Once again, thanks.
  • Was trying to think how many we took to Bristol City 20 years ago in round 5.
I'm guessing it must have been well over 2,000....

Oh do I remember that match. Finally persuaded my wife to come to a game with me and drove down to Bristol from Stockport. Arrived early, parked up and got whacked proper by some Bristol knobs before I had chance to lock the car. Persuaded the wife I was ok, cleaned up the blood and managed to convince her to still attend the game. Decided to move the car elsewhere as I didn't fancy a 2nd good hiding after the match. I needn't have bothered. On getting back to my (prized 6 months old beemer) car, I realised I had left my CAFC badge in the back window and every panel had a size 9 DM print imbedded in it.

First and only time I have ever been twatted at a football match or had my car done and it is still the only football match my missus has been to lol

I'd click LOL, but it seems a bit cruel really.

  • 38k? How many in the bus tour for 2nd place?
  • Not sure we can comment on league position right now.

I'm quite happy to go into this game as underdogs and have Wednesday underestimate us. Fancy an upset like at Huddersfield.

Wasn't a bus tour Guinness but a civic reception, which I refused to go to as I found it embarrassing as it rewarded failure.

Your aim was to get out of league 1. A bit over the top celebration but a promotion season should never be seen as a failure.

wow after seeing that video I'm going to try get a refund, we can't compete with that quality, thanks for the heads up owlsadmin would have been a wasted journey.

To be fair that was a great move, I saw that on the Football League show and thought it at the time. Would love to see us knocking it about like that resulting in a shot on target.
What, like we did at Huddersfield?
No, our passing wasn't that fast and slick.

Being in the third tier should be seen as a failure for the likes of us and you.
  • you know how everyone always says that we try and make up rivals..........

The effort our players put in that year was fantastic. They deserved every bit of praise and every second of their moment of glory. The players we had on the way down were the failures.
  • Parked in a car park in Clay Wheels Lane last time, anybody know if its still there/open?

  • Chances of getting back to the station for the 17:49 train OP? Anyone else?
  • I'm reckoning very slim...
  • Pretty reasonable....you could walk to town in an hour never mind public transport.
  • cheers.

Pretty reasonable....you could walk to town in an hour never mind public transport.

That's a fair old walk and.... I wouldn't walk, but if you miss the first or second tram just get the one after you'll be okay.

I didn't see it like that, I saw it as more a celebration of pipping United to the second spot, lets not forget, they all thought it was theirs until seeds of doubt were cast when O'Grady scored that winner against them at Hillsboro' they would of been 8 points clear if they had won us and from that moment onwards they never recovered, 1979 all over again.

If i was boggzy i'd walk to Hillsborough corner anyway and have a choice of trams and buses, particularly the blue 'Halfway' tram which takes you direct to the station. My point was that is walkable, i've done it myself.

I just saw it as tinpot and after the way we'd mocked them for having a civil reception for losing in the play-offs in 2009 it just seemed a bit false.

I remember seeing us having a proper bus tour mind when we won summat that was worth shouting about back in 1991.
