Okay decided to mega bus this trip rather than valley away as half the price.
Problem is mega bus goes to meadow hill interchange and I am not familiar with the city of steel. What's the best way to get from there to Hillsborough, how long will have it take and how much will it cost?

If Valley away is £22 & Megabus is £11.
If Megabus goes from London (say Victoria), it'll probably cost £9 return to Victoria & then add on say £3 for the tram & it may cost you more & a lot more faffing around ?

I got 12 pound return on mega bus. Another thing is, valley away gives no time for pubs!!
@killerandflash A lot of the good beer pubs won't show the game or if they do it will be on small screens. The Riverside might be the best bet, decent beer and has shown matches on a big screen before. It's at Kelham Island behind the Fat Cat. Failing that go up to West Street and most of the pubs will have the game on big screens and serve something drinkable.

Train/ tram (/ bus) into town then tram to ground Ask for a day pass (has another name which I can't remember, but they will know what you mean) on tram and then you can jump on and off as you like, handy if meeting mates in town, ~£3/4
So if you do get the coach what time do they aim to get to the ground? Is it really the case as Lewyaddick says that you don't get time for the pub?
Basically. I don't use it much now but from experience they'll give you a long, boring hour in a service station and aim to arrive at the ground about 60 minutes before kickoff. It's not ideal but it gets the job done.

Thanks, I suspected as much. I was thinking about The Devonshire Cat as an alternative, as I think that has tv screens, but also a decent ale selection
Any news on how many Charlton fans are coming up for this? £15 quid to come and see one of the best grounds in the country and believe me, we are absolutely buzzing!
Cannot wait for this game.
It still baffles me why you post on another clubs forum???

By the way it's Meadowhall and that's where the tram terminates. Hope you're going to the right place, lol. I don't get the tram that often but it's about £4 for a day saver (which is cheaper than two singles) which means you can get on trams all day. It's about 30-40 minutes to get to Leppings Lane, or if you're dropping in to any pubs like Hillsborough Hotel or New Barrack Tavern, get off at Bamforth Street and walk down. Both pubs are within 10 minute walk of the ground. Don't get off at Leppings lane and think of walking into the pubs there as they're all home pubs. Well, 'The Park' is all that's there really.

Walk up Wadsley Lane, past 'the park' pub and there is the Horse&Jockey, that's an away pub and you will be able to roll down the Hill after your 10 pints.
By the way I never knew you lived in Sheffield, are you close to Hillsborough?

Primrose View not Bamforth St for Hillsborough Hotel.
