I've noticed that some people are thinking about popping over to the pub across the road from the station, it called the Howard but in my personal opinion it isn't that good so I'd just thought I'd mention that in the station itself there is the Sheffield Tap that is also an 'ale' pub.

Within a 5 minute Taxi drive from the station and on route to Hillsborough are both the Kelham Island Tavern and almost opposite just round the corner sits the Fat Cat.

Alternatively you could go in the New Barrack Tavern which is on Penistone Road just before you get into Owlerton, you can walk it to the ground from here and it probably would take you 20 mins.

Taxis are also available and frequent but don't leave it the last minute as obviously traffic is busy heading to Hillsborough along the A61

The Howard is decent! not so much in January though. Sheff Utd away in 30 degrees when we won 0-2 2011 was in there for 3 hours before and an hour n half after the game, was one of the best away days I've had.
Was in there for your lot the 2-2 game, and after Barnsley away last season. Simply Red lookalike barmen always takes a bit of stick well.
  • how far a walk is it to the ground from the train station op

Not walking distance mate, think it's about 4 miles.

I'm biased a little bit, it's a Blades pub but I suppose in decent weather you can always take the drink outside, But then again i've not been inside that place for over 10 years!

About 5 miles, so if you walked at 5mph it would take you an hour lol.

    Tram it!

  • Sheff Utd game will be moved.

How bad are Fulham though? Pigs lost to Crewe 3-0 on Saturday!

Hopefully 3 London clubs will go down from the premiership. :-)

    Come on you reds!!!

Agreed, although any self-harmers out there who inflicted even 2 minutes of yesterday's Fulham Sheffield United cup replay on themselves would probably have a strong counter-argument. When I flicked through and spotted that on the box I thought for a minute ITV4 were showing live coverage of a Fulham reserve game in the Football Combination.

  • Very tempted by this now. Would be a solo job from the Kent coast though. I'll find Olly Murs and latch on
  • for anyone in the East Sussex area it is hopeful there will be a coach running up from Hastings and picking up en route.

    That was well funny.
  • I'll be going up on the coach from Charlton. I was one of the unfortunate ones who was on the stranded train half way up to Sheffield during the championship season, so I'm looking forward to finally seeing Hillsborough.

Should be a good atmosphere from our lot.
  • Right just decided to go to this one. Anyone got any advice of cheapest way to get there via train? Would be much appreciated!

Train looks to be about £40 from St Pancras but you can do it for £12 return on coach if you're skint.

  • Hope there was not just an early surge which will fade out.
Still got ours to get yet.
Should be taking 2k minimum really.

Look at the total sales figures over the last few days:

    620 day 1
    930 day 2
    1100 day 3

I'd say they are tailing off already. A win on Saturday will bump it up, but personally think 2000 is very optimistic.

Tried em all OP. Usually do The Kelham Island places pre match and the Sheffieldtap at the station when celebrating on the way home (Wicked stuff those Thornbridge Brewery ales). Kelham Island is also easy to get to on the Supertram -5 mins walk from Shalesmoor stop. Two years ago( Do you remember our skippers free kick?), a couple of yorn I met in the Cat, took me to the Hillsborough hotel. Also a decent place with its own brewery next door. Got into the ground 5 mins after KO totally pissed.
Tell us, do you spend as much time on other clubs forums as ours or is it just that CAFC is your real true love. Come and join us in the Leppings next week and enjoy some real atmosphere.b
