You'd forget we just beat QPR and got the FA Cup quater finals by reading some of the posts on here, I remember Wigan away when everyone in the ground was talking about how good Reza was and suddenly because he's gone more than 4 games without scoring (Hitting the woodwork twice) people "aren't sure" about him. Ridiculous, I liked Yann as much as the next guy but we can't look at every clean sheet Norwich keep and wonder how different things might have been if we kept Michael Turner. I happen to think the players are more prone to a safe pass rather than an aimless hoof without Kermo on the pitch
You're right we are through to FA cup semis, feel free to gloss over the Yann equaliser against Oxford all you like :-)
Without him it would have been yet another humiliating "team didn't show up performance"
For gods sake people. Do some research. The more I see the Yann detractors clutching at straws to say he isn't all that the more your argument falls down.
We are a worse team without him. Simple as that. We could have kept him and not spent 800k on a kid who bangs them in for fun (in the Dutch second tier for Christs sake) and done much better.
The Dutch second tier.... Come on...
What an ignorant comment to make "The Dutch Second tier" Remind me where Charlie Austin came from? What about Ian Wright? What about Rickie Lambert the English 4th tier....come on. Did I ever say that Yann is a bad player? No. He gave us some fantastic memories and will always be remembered with a fond heart. Constantly talking about RD "screwed up" doesn't help anyone. But let's just ignore the fact he's bought in a few good players and remember that he let go of a 32 year old inhury prone striker and received money for a player that was 6 months away from being a free agent.
Who are these good players that RD has bought in? Only AA has impressed me so far, goalkeeper iffy, and Reza too lightweight! As for the other to PP and AC seem only OK for the under 21's. At least Tudgay seems OK (one of Chris'es).

Well you can keep singing RDs praises in league one whilst Yann is still in the champ. Then again though at least Piotr is the next lewandowski so we should storm league one!
We are not even supposed to know how much we got for him. The Cherries are open about the £400k fee - we get told on the OS that it was "undisclosed".
He wanted a 2 year deal, we bottled it, and offered a one year deal after he had spoken to Howe. At £10k a week, then we are talking about an extra £500k.
We have Gower/Pritchard/Evina/Sordell all on wages and not contributing and we are in the entertainment business. (feel free to replace with any other player names to illustrate the point about £10k a week wages).
We let a proven Championship and L1 goalscorer walk away, to be replaced by players of unknown ability.
Remember when YK sat in the dugout after the Stevenage defeat, full of despair - many (including me) though it was just badge-kissing. Fast-forward to the home wins against Leicester when he stood Cantona-esque in defiance at their fans. Or think-on to Watford away, where their filth kept stamping on his injured ankle - but still he refused to leave the field until the point was safe.
We have replaced him with a bloke who must be thinking more about the World Cup in June than the Spanners away in March, and a bloke who has scored 467 goals in 5 matches for Polka Dot Rovers but can't get in our matchday squad.
I will be available for face-to-face discussion on this in August at Crawley away, because that's how it is looking.
Yes, it is too late to cry over spilled milk - but "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next", so I'm not letting the club off lightly over this........ Cup or no Cup.
As Gore Vidal said "It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail". Bournemouth are away to Blackpool next week, then away to Barnsley, Yeovil and then Millwall on the last day of the season. If Yann can bang in the goals against those teams as a result of the service he's getting at Bournemouth, then that can only help our chances of staying up. However, it does rather depend on our remaining strikers getting their eye in pretty quickly.
So did yann refuse to play before leaving, therefore avoiding an automatic contract extension.. Or did it turn out to be a myth ?
People directly involved in negotiating Yann's contracts with his agent don't think the automatic extension clause ever existed. I asked the same question of our source for Yann's account in VOTV and that person denied it too.
I can't help but laugh at huskaris posts about Yann. Everytime I read one I envision him rocking backwards and forwards in a corner singing 'we all dream of a team of kermorgants'
Pleased for Yann, but it gutted me to see him smash them in for Bournemouth on the FLS. Just hope he doesn't score against us when they come to the Valley. That would be hard to take - one thing being dumped by the love of your life but even worse when you see her with the new fella and she kicks you in the nuts.
I actually think Yann is underrated by some on here and fans of other clubs, he didn't score that much for us but in a team that creates a lot of chances (Bournemouth) I can see him getting close to 20 in a season.
Love the denial from some on here. So transparent it's pathetic. He was our best player, and he hasn't been replaced.
From a short-term business point of view I understand why RD made the decision not to improve the deal. From a footballing (and long-term financial) point of view it's utter madness, unless RD explicitly wants to get relegated.
Anyway, it's all been said. All I will say is, yes we play more to feet now (tho was not at yesterday's game), as we don't have anyone who can win headers. Ironically If we'd done this while Yann was here, we'd probably have more points on the board now.
I think there is more underlying to the discussion on here - in once vastly larger camp is the pro-Charlton, pro-Powell camp who are bewildered by the sale & although coming round to RD still wary of what the future holds, in the other is a small band of self-styled outsiders who are anti-Powell, anti Charlton Life & hoping that the sale of YK hastens CP's demise - possibly not because they are particularly anti-CP but more because they have had their noses put out of joint & probably banned on here & would revel in the upset it would cause to the majority of this board.

Or maybe we're all completely different people with completely different views?

You only have to spend time browsing elsewhere to see that there is for some reason a silly little game going on here which is getting a bit tiresome...diverse views are necessary but when thinly disguised as point scoring they lose their validity.
Pleased for the big man 3 good goals and puts Donny back in the Mire with us, keep scoring against them teams yann its just as helpful as scoring for us (well nearly)

I noticed that this was missing from the Voice of the Valley piece so looked it up - From the Eltham Addicks YK meeting thread Henry Irving states: YK not entirely happy with contract. There is an option but depends on him making a number (unstated) of starts. If injured won't make enough starts. Would like the situation settled ASAP. Wants security. DD OK with one year as has problems before with long deals at other clubs. charltonlife.com/discussion/56923/yann-kermogant-dorian-dervite-eltham-addicks-10th-sept-2013/p2 (lower down people report he didn't want to finish his Charlton career without beating Millwall so he owes us!) It appears, from reading the different accounts, that in January Yann secured an offer from Bournemouth and wanted a pay rise AND an extra year from CAFC on top of the option. Whatever Yann might have been worth to the team this season I expect the new owner felt that the numbers did not look like good value over 2 and a half years. The problem is that we have not replaced him so that in 12 months we have lost Fuller, Obika and Kermorgant. On the upside we played well in the couple of games before Leicester but some people seem to have forgotten that. And there is a chance to sign a premier league striker on loan plus we have FA Cup cash covering the losses right now. Seems like a no brainer that we should go and get a decent striker for three months whatever the cost because beating Sheffield United is worth £1.4M !

But the club specifically stated that it offered Yann a contract to 2016, which is also disputed. Indeed on the numbers pushed into the public domain by the club, it offered him an increase. However, we are never going to get to the bottom of this, I think.
What matters is that we need to have the players to stay up. I don't think the fact we beat QPR and Sheffield Wednesday shows that we do, welcome as those results were. Neither can anyone know we we will strengthen the squad until we do - everything else is just talk, wherever it comes from.
In the meantime, we've scored 24 goals in 30 matches.

Is there anything we can do about it? No
Do some people miss pounds, shillings and pence? Yes
Is there anything we can do about it? No
Time to move on. I guess you have to decide if you believe CAFC's story of events or Yann's - alternatively not get worried either way.
is this the thread just to collect flags
