Yann

I know it's not the best nor most original idea in the world, but I was thinking wouldn't it be a good token if we gave Yann a standing ovation in the 18th minute when he returns? Just an idea feel free to share opinions

I'm more gutted than most seem to be about Yann leaving but that is a ludicrous idea. Ffs I know we are pitiful at home anyway but cheering on opponents during the middle of the game at the Valley really is taking welcoming way more than a step too far. He's already a dead cert to score against us. Why don't we ask Morrison and the rest of the defence (who knows what that will be by the time we get to Bournemouth) to stop playing and join in the applause so that Yann can score in front of the Covered End one last time? It's not like we'll need the points... we'll be down by then anyway.

Nah. Big round of applause before the match (and if he gets subbed), and an absence of booing every time he touches the ball is enough. While he may have been a cult hero, he's still going to be an opposition player on the day. We've only sold him, he hasn't died! And I say that as one who's gutted he's gone.
  • Having said that I do recollect singing Robert Lee's name at the Valley when he came with Newcastle, but regardless it's still crazy. Clap him when the teams are read out and maybe at the end depending on how much he celebrates his goal(s) against us.
  • Has he died

When he scores a world class free kick towards the covered end I will scream and cheer as a reflex action. (Haven't all his free kicks at home been scored towards the covered end?)

Love Yann but wouldn't cheer anyone playing against Charlton, while they're playing against Charlton.

Can't he just be booed and pelted with missiles every time he's on the ball?

Seriously though, arguably our best player fucks off and the first thing we start doing is talking about his round of applause when he returns. Tell you what I'm gonna do, make AFC Bournemouth me 2nd team. Hope the club do scarves with half Charlton and half Bournemouth written on it too! Also, let's start a petition to get the Jimmy Seed stand renamed the Kermorgant Kop and stick his full sized bronze between CP's bronze and the Sam B statue in the car park. In fact, close the car park and make it to into the CAFC Terracotta Bronze Army and when the car parks full up, knock the ground down and put more there, full of people who have played or worked for the club and left. Be amazing!

    Er, no.

We are struggling in relegation fight. It's all about charlton as soon as that whistle blows. I want him to get a good reception, he deserves it, but 18th minute thing is a bit weird.

He will get a good reception, FACT. Clapping after 18 mins is the most stupid thing i have heard during this stupid week.

A spontaneous murmur of applause if he's subbed is what it should be imo

Non - there's a way to leave a club, with dignity or without, Kermit chose the latter!

    Please explain!!

His interview was very dignified. He clearly stated that following the takeover it became clear to him that he was not part of the clubs plans going forward. He made the usual comments about loving the fans who had been very good to him and said that he had become a Charlton supporter.

What more did you want him to say or do?

  • No chance. He made his choice and is a Bournemouth player now. He did well but is in the past now.

When Christian Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford he was given the full applause...but when he first touched the ball they all booed....

I loved yann as much as the next charlton fan but I'd just stick to a normal warm round of applause at the start of the match.

    Nothing more. Nothing less.

Codfish Junior (note the junior bit people). It's a nice idea but he'll get a round of applause at most.

Well not from everyone it seems.

Greenie. What on earth could Kermie have done to leave with dignity --in your eyes?
