I think (no inside knowledge at all) that Cousins will go. However i do think that RD will invest the money in the squad. any thing between £3mil and £5 mill and he will defo be sold.
RD's reputation does seem to suggest he would be more than happy to sell at that kind of price, though from a business perspective it would make sense for him to use at least part of that money to reinvest in the squad - relegation suits him no better than any of us after all, and JC would be a big loss if unreplaced.
Where do Huddersfield get their money from? They've made some fantastic signings over the last year.
There are officially 15 Teams in this division with a bigger budget than us.
We are shrewd in the transfer market (now Lee Clark has left!).
£8m for Rhodes £2m for Jack Hunt
£400k for Jonathan Hogg £600k for Vaughan (rising to 1 million) £400k for Adam Clayton (our best Player and to quote a Leeds fan, we can have their whole Midfield to have him back) Tommy Smith & Duane Holmes both development Team products £1.3m for Nahki Wells Adam Hammill - 250k (absolute bargain) Martin Paterson - free transfer (offered new deal at Burnley)
Rumoured Oliver Norwood to Celtic for over a million to help balance the books, 'fair play and all that (1/5 with bookies to go).

Clayton is a quality player and has the ability to control games in this division.

you've got a totally committed local boy chairman (how did he make all that money selling cards and wrapping paper?) a very good manager and a decent stadium .. but smallish crowds ... I always enjoy my Huddersfield days out .. selling Rhodes for all that cash was a master stroke and has set you up nicely .. as with Cousins (IF he is sold!!) at CAFC, it is always annoying (to say the least) when a star is sold, but in the longer term for medium sized clubs like ours, money shouts not talks and a few million can finance team building as well as paying off a few bills. Look at Crewe. Over the years, the original N W Nursery. Alas, with the influx of foreign players at all levels, Crewe is feeling the pinch through lack of consistent income from selling young players. Congratulations by the way in signing Wells .. he is a definite good un, possibly better than Rhodes? .. we will see
Would be disappointed with that. We need to be keeping our best players and not selling them. Building on what we got. Cousins will be worth a lot more than 5 million in the future.
Thought talk of Cousins to Everton was just one of those random Twitter accounts but seems it was in the Sunday People.
Everton, however, are said to be closing in on the £7million signing of Standard Liege's Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi according to the Sunday People, with the same paper also linking the Blues to Charlton's £5million-rated teenager Jordan Cousins.
Just a feeling but not convinced it'll happen. He's only been in the first team for a few months and he'll be cheaper if we get relegated. No doubt there will be teams watching him though.
I really hope Jordan will be here for as long as possible, I would be fantastic to see him one day wear the band as captain, as he has done for the youth teams both for the club and the English youth squad!

If we sell him and other of our best players without replacing or replacing with not quite so good ones, there is a strong risk of relegation. If Leige Michy Batshuayi goes and they fail to win the league, Liege fans will be less than happy. Similarly if RD sells Cousins to Everton and we get relegated than it is not going to well either.
I think Cousins will be better off getting lots of game time with Charlton rather than spending a lot of time in Everton's reserves or hoiked out on loan somewhere.
I do dispair at the number of people on here prepared to to see Cousins sold for £3-5M.
I remember the same talk when we had the chance to sell Andy Reid and what hapened, we got relegated. Palace on the other hand, got bought by new owners, got offers for Zaha, turned them down and ended up a) selling for £15M and b) having him help them to the PL.
If RD has bought us just to flog our best players to the first club to come knocking then I don't really get why he bothered?
Except full backs, CM is one of the few areas we are sort of ok with him & Stephens. Start to break that up and unless you are bringing in provien quality and getting them to gel quickly we will be playing MKDons again next season

We will always be a selling club whatever division we are in. Fact. I'm sure Duchatelets plans are to develop players and sell on at a profit whilst progressing the club on the whole and it can be a good plan. I don't want to see JC sold but it fits the model and has probably come much earlier that RD would have expected. If SCP sees the lions share of the money then I think it would be good albeit sad business.
No way is he the finished article and I doubt if Everton are seriously considering £5m in this transfer window just to have the lad in their Development team.
No doubt Everton have been tracking his progress, but then I guess most Prem clubs would be aware of his emergence this season. It's what their scouts do.
It Everton's interest is real, IMO more chance of them making an offer in the summer.

100% Agree. Sell our best players and condemn us to life in this league or lower. I remember us thinking what a good deal it was to sell Mike Bailey to Wolves for £40000 and spending the cash on some descent players. What nonsense. Keep our best players and develop the team around them. In a couple of seasons if he gets playing time he will become a very good footballer.

Do a Zaha I say, sign a contract to sell at £5m in the summer or sell now and in the contract, loan back to us till the summer... Sorted.
If I remember correctly, the Jenkinson money from Arsenal helped fund the side that won the Division One title comfortably, so would not be adverse to selling a player of Cousin's potential if monies received were to similar use. However, like others have posted, I cannot see any Premier side paying £5m for a lad who has only played 20 games or so during this transfer window. Most teams willing to pay that sort of money would surely want a player that could make an instant impact/strengthen their squad.
Leeds held out for big wonga when they sold Delph to Villa and Villa are now reaping the rewards of the development of him, and he did not play that much for leeds before he was sold

No doubt if he continues to develop he'll move on from Charlton but the timing is crucial in getting the best deal for CAFC.
No lack of opportunity!

Not only that - he'd be financially sorted. Probably get half a million signing on fee and move to 10-15k a week.
He's been loyal to us and seems to have his head screwed on but It's a short career and the chance to play for Martinez would be hard to reject.
