The trust have put a massive nail in the future of Charlton, Harris does not want any hussle when he moves the club to a new stadium, he don't need it got so much money he just go and buy someone else who want to move to the next level. Who invented these figures, I know 6 ST holders who all think it would be the right thing for the clubs future to move to a new stadium. So I think this for and against figure are incorrect. But well done guys, div 1 next season then Admin or even no club at all, but at least The Valley will be standing .
Good evening Mr Sams. While you are here, do tell me if you now regret your strident weekly criticisms of Alan Curbishley.
Classy response. Jeez, you really need to learn to stop sledging everyone and anyone who dares disagree with you. No idea who Mr Sams is and I care even less; but he is entiteld to his anonymity under forum rules. You may be right and he might be a total plank. But that's not the point. Your personal and petty animosities add nothing but rancour and ill-will to the debate.
ACV has nothing to do with the takeover falling through imo, it's not like a new stadium on the peninsular would pop up overnight anyway so fans would most likely be consulted anyway
Lets be very clear on ACV, it was backed by both Slater & Jimenez, the club supported the application for ACV and that is FACTUAL. Surely if they'd thought it would detrimental they would not have backed it. There are known cases where clubs haven’t backed applications for ACV so they wouldn’t have been the first to do so.
What percentage of ST holders backed it? Or don't they matter?
Again I will say there was a petition online as well as outside the ground on match days, I am sure Majority of people signed it otherwise they would not of gone through with the ACV
You think 51% of ST holders signed?
Just playing devils advocate
I believe they got enough signatures to warrant putting it through.
do you mean enough signatures to apply? I think if you asked most fans what an ACV is they wouldn't know.
Who signs a petition they don't agree with? Easy to get yes votes on a petition outside the ground but not so easy to register your no vote. Not a big enough mandate in my opinion to justify the acv and I feel it is pointless too as all it does is give notice of something that can't be stopped.
Well I, my parents, Golfie and a couple of friends all sit in the East Stand and none of us have ever been asked to sign a petition.
It's quite clear that the deal fell through due to too high an asking price and the owners are trying to blame the ACV on the collapse. By doing this they (TJ) hope it will turn fans against the trust. Divide and conquer and all that.
Individuals will know individuals with varying points of view regarding the ACV and other things Charlton. The facts are that a formally organised supporters trust was formed, under the umbrella of a wider trust movement. The trust got active, and the ACV was widely supported during those activities, and action was taken. It is open to supporters to also get organised in whatever way they wish, but the Trust has more credibility in speaking for fans than gainsaying individuals who have not done very much more than observe matters.
If the acv has stopped us being taken over and moved then good. Might be short sighted, narrow minded or whatever but to me, the valley is charlton. Would rather watch us in the conference at the valley than the champions league at some new prefab.

My fear is we won't have anything unless a buyer is found soon.
Nothing's over to the fat lady sings so I'm clinging to the Daily Mail's 'poised' to pull out line and hoping it's Harris piling on a bit of pressure to focus a few minds in various related deals. Might just be the first time I've ever relied on The Mail... :-o

This is not a criticism but I genuinely do not understand this mindset. I really don't. Am I the only one? I'd choose Champions League in a packed new stadium (within Greenwich) for our football club every time - and yet some on here have left me wondering if I am a Charlton supporter at all.

I find the ACV a bit ironic in that the Trust want us all to have a say if the Club were to try and leave The Valley but fail to canvas the support as a whole before applying for it. For all they now the majority may have been against the whole idea but heyho eh.
I'm not sure if the ACV has proved a stumbling block or not but I can quite conceivably see how it might not gave helped.
Considering there was a petition online for this and outside the ground there was also a petition I am sure the majority agreed otherwise I don't feel they would of gone through with it
Do me a favour two blokes on a pasting table outside the north stand unless you are a forum user yoi wouldn't have a friggin clue.

I suppose there could be a generational thing here. Those involved in the battle for the Valley are very much once bitten twice shy.
I have tried explaining ACV and its limitations to Toby as he wasnt aware of it, but he still doesn't seem to get it.
So let me get this straight the theory goes that a billionaire with some very expensive lawyers thought acv which actually only requires notification and a delay of 6 months if the ground was put up for sale was a deal breaker... Hmm
So how long does it take to build a new ground, I would think more than six months. So announce a sale then wait til the ground is built (more than six months) then move if that is the plan of course.
Really if that were true would you want them running our club? What else night they miss? Perhaps a vital rule of English football of some kind? Perhaps Financial Fair Play regs (seems far more likely to me), or indeed something else perhaps another offer who knows
I should also point I spoke to a member of the Charlton board flagging the likely announcement of ACV and asked if it would affect the takeover and if they wanted us to sit on it (as it was something we would possibly consider if possible) he declined. We did precisely this when we first applied and delayed our application on request. Maybe the timing which you can blame Greenwich council for taking so stupidly long, but I seriously doubt it, and I think people on here are smarter than to believe some 'creative' (to put it mildly) journalism.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Do you want to put some money behind them to raise their profile?

Well you saw them, there was the phenomena right before your eyes. Did you sign, or agree/disagree, or did you leave it?

Fair enough. I shouldn't have named him. Although many people here know him because he has driven them off Glynne Jones mailing list in despair.
However having worked hard with many others to get ACV you might possibly allow my frustration at his ignorant comment to spill over.
I am not aware that I have sledged anyone else this evening in any of my comments. Do feel free to point it put if so. You however called me naive and in response I tried my best to clarify that I and other Trust people have had private discussions with CAFC over ACV, while doing my best to avoid sounding self important.

Sorry mate to sentimental we could never survive in the conference at the valley.

I know that mate, we'd be out of business before we sunk that low. Still don't want to move though.

That's my theory anyway.

Why is he breaking this and not our usual correspondent Rich Cawley?
