Charlton sale off table American billionaire Joshua Harris has pulled out of talks to buy Charlton, who are being kept afloat by Mayfair property developer Kevin Cash. It is understood Harris, who owns basketball’s Philadelphia 76ers and ice hockey’s New Jersey Devils, and associates withdrew their interest at the due diligence stage. Charlton’s claim to own land on the Greenwich peninsular near the O2 Arena is said to be an issue.
The british group who bid 18m were simply a fabrication. A crude attempt to get the real bid to up their price. Things like that are what are costing us, not the acv.
I completely understand the tentative calls for supporters to protest but the toxic atmosphere that will create will be disasterous for the team IMHO. Relegation would look more likely.

Surely the fact that they are all out of contract at the end of the season is enough of a toxic atmosphere to get us relegated. A big protest of unhappy fans directed at the board would surely drive their asking price down and maybe make these two arses cut their losses and move on.
As it stands, spending the rest of the season with players who will have their heads turned is going to be an absolute disaster.
I'd heard the Harris mob weren't showing any interest in the peninsular side of things whilst overlooking the club Which makes them pulling out even worse to us Valley lovers
The trust are like the ref , whatever they do someone will moan at them , impossible job Keep up the good work When you look at our moaning bitching fans that's prolly the reason anyone of a sane mind would run a million miles from going anywhere near a football fans freak show

The ACV has no relevance in this saga at all as it it does is give the trust 6 months to try and find funds to purchase the ground. If new owners wanted us to move, they would without a second thought. All what the ACV does is delay them getting their money by a maximum of 6 months.
Raz, I in no way want to degenerate what you are doing. However you don't necessary speak for the majority of Charlton fans. My parents have not missed a home game for ages. They no nothing of the Trust. They live in East Sussex, don't use the net, don't listen to local radio obviously, are not a member of a Supporters Group, wouldn't have a clue what twitter is etc etc. The two people who sit in front of us likewise. I come up on Valley Express and people ask me what is going on with certain things. I also hear other talking on the coach who also have no clue about what is going on about a great many things. I think that actually our fan base is quite old and the above is not isolated in that fan base but actually quite widespread.
So no I don't ignore facts that don't suit my view but it seems you quite likely are ignoring great swaths of our fanbase. I'm quite sure you could arrange for each coach to have copies of your magazine on board for each traveller to have a copy etc etc, hand out leaflets at turnstiles other than those at the North Stand.
As said I'm not against what you are doing at all but I don't think you can in any way say you speak for the majority of Charlton fans as a great many know nothing about you at all.
What do you expect the Trust to do Large, come round and knock on your Mum and Dad's front door?
If you do can you ring first to see if they need any milk, bread etc ;-)
Exiled Addick said : 'If people live outside the club's main catchment area and don't make any effort to communicate with the world using modern means it's going to be very hard for the Trust to reach them.'
I've tried to get them to use the net but they are 80 now and my Dad's only just sussed how the Hoover works !!
I am not anti trust. I don't think the takeover collapsing has anything to do with either the Trust or the ACV being granted. All I am saying is that although 2,000 signatures on the petition is great it shouldn't be seen as an absolute endorsement of what you are doing. I applaud those involved and know the hard work that is being done by a good number of people and I'd never diss that. It is true though that a great many fans know nothing of the Trust or what an ACV even is.
Large.
You know a bit about Swansea's recent history I am sure.
At Swansea, membership of the Trust means that you are part of the 20% fan ownership of the club. Yet currently, full membership stands at less than 1,000, so the CAS Trust is already as big as the Swans Trust. Because they were worried about legitimacy (and the fan apathy others have mentioned above), they introduced a lower level of membership, without voting rights, for free to all season ticket holders. This way they can say to the Council and others, "we represent 15,000+."
It is really difficult to get the majority of fans to engage with more than the 90 minutes, until a club is actually in danger of going under, by which time it is too late.
Anyway, the Daily Mail grenade will hopefully kill off the "Trust/ACV destroyed the bid" accusations, which have been pretty hard to take, speaking for myself. I am sorry if I let myself down on here last night.
Ridiculous diversion to blame ACV or the Trust. Why can't people see what's in front of them?
This this this this and this.
Anyone would think we'd not seen previous approaches get to DD stage and fail. There's something amiss in there, and the common denominator is the sellers, their message and their approach to valuation and negotiation.
Firstly, ACV won't stop us moving if the owners are intent, and it really isn't a concept lost on brilliant business brains such as Miller and his team. Much more powerful is the long long standing open space designation, which was our lifeline previoisly. This is unlikely to be the same problem now as it once was, fitting in with Borough Plan and all that, but the ACV gives notice and little more.
Frankly I don't think the Trust has helped our understanding with the way this has been communicated. Many misleading and overblown claims for ACV in my book. But...
The Trust as I see it represents an opportunity for the supporter base to have a voice. Rather than stand on the sidelines and criticise it for not speaking for everyone, why not all take our seats and make sure our personal views are part of it, shape what its voice is. If it's no longer the voice for The Valley then so be it, but an organised united voice is surely better than those fragmented when it comes to issues key to the fans.
As for older fans not getting engaged, the two 70 year olds next to me at the Valley are both Trust members, fully understand the ACV and want stronger devices to ensure we reach the Valley's centenary and beyond. Personally I suspect they're pretty representative of those who have been going for 60 years plus.
If - big if - the club owns land on the peninsula, which I highly doubt, why would that stop a takeover ? Is this maybe why the asking price was so high ? Is this why TJ/KC really bought us in the first place ?
Really don't understand people constantly pointing fingers at TJ & Slater. Don't get me wrong, I'll be glad to see the back of em, but this, the latest in an ever growing line of fuck ups is all down to one man..............step forward Mr Cash.
He had a decent offer on the table then heard of another interested party, so to try and push up the price a touch, he leaked the story to the mail. The yanks then realised he's fucking them about and walked away. How these city wide boys ever made their fortune is beyond me.....................
(For legal reasons, my lawyer has instructed me to inform you the above is all fiction and everything is all good with the club)
If the acv has stopped us being taken over and moved then good. Might be short sighted, narrow minded or whatever but to me, the valley is charlton. Would rather watch us in the conference at the valley than the champions league at some new prefab.
This is not a criticism but I genuinely do not understand this mindset. I really don't. Am I the only one? I'd choose Champions League in a packed new stadium (within Greenwich) for our football club every time - and yet some on here have left me wondering if I am a Charlton supporter at all.
As a former shareholder during the years we received a full breakdown on what the club was worth , income, debts etc--------------------IT WAS NEVER STATED ANYWHERE WE OWNED LAND AT THE O2.
Love all this in fighting-cant we all meet in the car park and fight it out ? fill in the pot holes with the fallen .
With no inside knowledge at all----non, zip, zilch, feck all------------even if there was a bogus claim re the O2 it dosnt mean the take over is over-----they could adjust the bid etc etc.
There has to come a time when the twonks in charge have to understand that their choice is a loss or a mega loss.
How could they ever think they'd get away with claiming to own something they clearly don't? It's going to get discovered at some point....
Don't believe everything you read in the papers and even less in the Mail. I am not saying the Mail story is wrong but the evidence does not stack up, if we were claiming ownership surely it would have come up in the leaked prospectus or been leaked through Airmans sleuths. Maybe this is a leak from the withdrawing parties or a misinterpretation or just lies by the Mail.

That's exactly what did come out in the leaked prospectus.
The Daily Mail and SLP are constantly slated on here, yet some people are using a snippet from a DM story to beat our owners over the head with.
How do we know that's what has potentially led to a deal falling through. We don't. Nobody does apart from TJ/MS and the yank.
And yet you've also got some people saying 'why can't you see what's in front of you?'. Well yes, I can see f*ck all happening apart from conflicting rumours from different sources, blaming different people. I guess it's a lot easier to see what's in front you if you know more info than the run of the mill fan that doesn't know what to believe.

Wiwlb posted on this thread weeks ago that the yanks had gone
So when no More noise was coming through it was always going zabeel
I had no inside info at all other than knowing wiwlb and know that he don't post bs
Others ignored that post
Which makes them pulling out even worse to us Valley lovers

MS/TJ let slip little snippets to the press to say there is interest in the Club to try and up the offer on the table.
The proposed buyers let snippets out to the press to say they are pulling out to force the current owners hands.
Sooner or later someone's going to blink.
