Went to the Beer festival at brick lane also. Had a couple of beers from a new brewery called Old Kent Road Brewery. It was their first 'show' and from what I remember it was good.
@ChiAddick I met those guys at UBrew a couple of weeks before CBR at Brick Lane....they were rushing to get the brews ready for the show....was all OK but not 'great' (IMO)...they are helped by one their team also being a journalist at Time Out....great for promotion... If anyone gets a chance to check out the Canopy Beer taproom in Herne Hill, I would recommend it...proper 'grass roots' stuff, good beer and an interior that takes shabby chic to a whole new level :-)

I was speaking to one of them who gave up a job being a mental health nurse to brew. I think the one I had was Haygate Pale Ale. He said they were based at Old Jamaica Road so may give them a visit sometime.
Heard that taproom is excellent. I think its the last stop on the South London Taproom Trail.
Had a few pints of Propper Job in the Railway (Blackheath) yesterday...very good....then a pint of the Dark Czech beer in Zero Degrees, with a Jamaican Pizza...highly recommend both the beer and pizza.
Proper Job is excellent from St Austell - very hoppy. Tried Smash #2 yesterday from their small batch collection. Was OK.
However, love Spun Gold - a 4.5˚golden ale from the small family run Twisted Oak Brewery down here in North Somerset.

The Brick Brewery in Peckham has a good tap room, open Thursday-Sunday.

A few minutes away is the Bullfinch brewery tap room, open at weekends. A discerning drinker can then pop on to the no 3 bus (or walk a mile and a half) and go to tap rooms at London Beer Factory and Gypsy Hill brewery, both on the same industrial estate.
It's a good little area for breweries - and they are supported by a lot of the local pubs

I think all of those are on the south London tap room trail. Someone posted the route on here a while ago. On the 'to do list' in the summer.
Popped in there last night and had a nice pale ale called Raspberry Belter by Leatherbritches (Derby). Also had half of Darley's Ghost by Axholme (Crowle, Lincs) - a spiced red ale with hint of cinnamon. Returning tonight for a proper session!
Today I discovered that the pub near Aldgate I discovered Proper Job in - and subsequently went there quite a bit during summer and autumn lunch breaks last year - no longer serves it.
Recommend dropping in to the Brockley Brewery - they have a bar open Friday and Saturday. You can also buy take away fresh from the barrel - recommend the IPA and Golden ales - porter is favourite but not at this time of the year! http://brockleybrewery.co.uk/home/

OK @PragueAddick my daughter has returned from a business trip in Prague with a random selection of beers. The fact that you enjoy the offerings of @Riviera in the Long Pond suggest you have a taste for reasonable beer:
We have:
Bakalar Medouy special
Bakalar Svetly Lezak
Bakalar Rezane Vycepni
Bernard Bohemian Ale
Prazacka Charm of Czechia
Svijany Svijansky Maz Soetly Lezak
We will probably start on them later today! Your comments as to the 'good' and not so good would be appreciated in the meantime please!
Well of those, Bernard is the most respected brewery, but the trouble is that the ale is an attempt to do something different. I dont like "ales" from Czech breweries. But this one is made with craft so hope you enjoy it. Svijany is a good one. The others I havent tried. Check the alcohol content, some will be stronger than a typical Brit lager. Enjoy!

Superb drop of stuff.
Really gets those taste buds tingling.
