Wine is ok (don't like Red, it gives migraines within an hour of a glass)
A decent Red wine won't give you a headache.
It's the cheap shit that does that - the first pressings of grapes have all gone to make the more quality wines. The weak residue that's left is then fortified with additives to bring it up to the minimum requirements.
Headache in a bottle.
And any alcohol will dehydrate you. Drink plenty of water after.
Spent last Saturday night at Craft Beer Rising - micro/craft beer festival on Brick Lane...had some amazing brews (I like hoppy, keg based APAs/lighter IPAs etc)...too many to name but a long time favourite is what the guys at Bad Seed Brewery are doing...their 'Cascade' is a great beer... (In other news I hope to be able to announce a new micro brewery in our part of south east London in the coming months....). Cheers
Brings back great memories of a little pub a 5 minute walk from Aldgate ststion. During lunch times me and two mates would grab street food near Spitalfields and eat it en route to the pub for a Proper Job or two.
I can remember one afternoon we had meetings booked from 3 till 5. We decided to conduct them in the pub... 7 proper jobs later we were merrily heading back to our office to grab our belongings and call it a day.. At 6. (IIRC we then went and spent the evening in another pub with the rest of the office)
Saturday afternoon stroll to the Fourpure Brewery and Partizan Brewing in Bermondey. Sadly, the beers were too hoppy for our tastes. Finished up in The Hand and Marigold on Bermondsey Street to watch England beat Wales at rugby football. The only real beer on offer was Doom Bar by Sharpe's. This was an excellent pint, very well kept, fresh and tasty, and I say that as someone who was very miffed to hear of Sharpe's being taken over by Coors.
3500 miles away, and with nothing much to add on football side, I've taken the Beer thread as my personal challenge.
Tonight, with boys netball everywhere(the worst three week in the US sporting calendar) I'm drinking Singlecut Beersmiths Heavy Boots of Lead Imperial Stout. For 11.2% it's very drinkable. Dangerously so. Very chocolate - which is odd, as they don't claim to be a chocolate stout

Was that part of the Bermondsey Beer Mile?
I was meant to do a walk along that route as part of my leaving do at work, about a year ago. Unfortunately it was at a weekend and nobody had bothered to check if I was free, and I wasn't. The guys who went all loved it and said it was a brilliant time.
Fourpure and Partizan are the first (or last) stops on the mile...they're a little detached from the rest of the breweries though, which are closer to London Bridge (3 stops on Druid St alone) and so there is a bit of a walk on to the next - Brew by Numbers - especially since the Kernel has removed itself from the mile and closed its taproom.... It's well worth doing though @LuckyReds
Had a bottle of Gravitas (Vale) last night.....very nice. Excellent range of ales in M&S @ Bluewater......so got a bottle of JHB (Oakham), Bitter & Twisted (Harviestoun) & Punk IPA (Brewdog)
Not a big fan of Partizan... but the Fourpure taproom is awesome... was over that way at the weekend and noticed that there is now a Southwark brewery taproom open as well... not been there in a while, so no idea where that came from. Hadn't realized that Kernal had moved either - think I need to spend more time there drinking beer.... On a beer related note.. was in Whitstable yesterday, and picked up some nice looking IPAs from some Kent based breweries in Deal and New Romney... I'll keep you posted as the whether they're any good!
Had a few pints of Propper Job in the Railway (Blackheath) yesterday...very good....then a pint of the Dark Czech beer in Zero Degrees, with a Jamaican Pizza...highly recommend both the beer and pizza.

We have 8 Southwark beers coming later this week. They have only been going just over a year but from my experience they are the best SE London independent brewery. They have a full range of beers which are also very reliable.

I'll take the hangover/headache thanks!
It was disgusting stuff.

Not a fan of the cans they've started selling though.
I have a mate who hates beer, if we go out he generally brings desperados over and we'll drink them with a few whiskeys.

Who on earth can they be talking about?
Though I'd rather have Grappa than bother with the beer again.
